Handheld and other battery-powered ICs require process scaling to increase functional integration and reduce active power consumption. Scaling also increases leakage current components to the point where standby power is frequently a limiting design factor. A scheme combining low-leakage thick-gate shadow latches and high-performance transistors is presented that decouples performance from standby power in sub-130-nm technologies. Circuit design and operation, including pulse-clocked latches, use of dynamic circuits, and inclusion of scan is presented. The approach is validated by experimental results on a 90-nm process.  相似文献

Two bisphenols, viz., 4,4′‐[1‐(2‐naphthalenyl)ethylidene]bisphenol and 4,4′‐[1‐(2‐naphthalenyl) ethylidene]bis‐3‐methylphenol were prepared by condensation of commercially available 2‐acetonaphthanone with phenol and o‐cresol, respectively. A series of new aromatic polyesters containing pendent naphthyl units was synthesized by phase‐transfer‐catalyzed interfacial polycondensation of these bisphenols with isophthaloyl chloride, terephthaloyl chloride, and a mixture of isophthaloyl chloride/terephthaloyl chloride (50 : 50 mol %). Inherent viscosities of polyesters were in the range 0.83–1.76 dL g−1, while number average molecular weights (Mn) were in the range 61,000–235,000 g mol−1. Polyesters were readily soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, m‐cresol, pyridine, N,N‐dimethylformamide, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and 1‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone at room temperature. Tough, transparent, and flexible films were cast from a solution of polyesters in chloroform. X‐Ray diffraction measurements displayed a broad halo at 2θ ≅ 19° indicating the amorphous nature of polyesters. Glass transition temperatures of polyesters were in the range 209–259°C. The temperature at 10% weight loss (T10), determined by TGA in nitrogen atmosphere, of polyesters was in the range 435–500°C indicating their good thermal stability. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ambrisentan is an US FDA approved drug, it is the second oral endothelin A receptor antagonist known for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, but its oral administration is limited due to its poor water solubility. Hence, the objective of the investigation was focused on enhancement of solubility and bioavailability of ambrisentan by solid dispersion technique using natural Daucus carota extract as drug carrier. Drug carrier was evaluated for solubility, swelling index, viscosity, angle of repose, hydration capacity, and acute toxicity test (LD50). Ambrisentan was studied for the saturation solubility, phase solubility, and Gibbs free energy change. Compatibility of drug and the natural carrier was confirmed by DSC, FTIR, and XRD. Solid dispersions were evaluated for drug content, solubility, morphology, in vitro, and in vivo study. Screening of the natural carrier showed the desirable properties like water solubility, less swelling index, less viscosity, and acute toxicity study revealed no any clinical symptoms of toxicity. Drug and carrier interaction study confirmed the compatibility to consider its use in the formulation. Formed particles were found to be spherical with smooth surface. In vitro studies revealed higher drug release from the solid dispersion than that of the physical mixture. Bioavailability study confirms the increased absorption and bioavailability by oral administration of solid dispersion. Hence, it can be concluded that the natural Daucus carota extract can be the better alternative source for the preparation of solid dispersion and/or other dosage forms for improving solubility and bioavailability.  相似文献

A high speed dual-phase dynamic-pseudo NMOS ((DP)2) latch using clocked pseudo-NMOS inverters is presented. Compared to the conventional D-latch, this circuit has a higher maximum operating frequency and consumes lower dynamic power at a given operating frequency. The latch has been demonstrated by utilizing it in the synchronous counter section of a dual-phase dual-modulus prescaler implemented in a 0.8 μm CMOS process. The maximum operating frequency for the prescaler at 3 V supply voltage is 1.3 GHz, while the power consumption is 9.7 mW. This power consumption is significantly lower than those of the previously reported prescalers implemented in 0.8 μm CMOS processes. The 9.7 mW power consumption at 1.3 GHz also compares favorably to the 24 mW power consumption of the 1.75 GHz prescaler using MOS current mode latches implemented in a 0.7 μm CMOS process. A 25% reduction of the maximum operating frequency for a ~60% reduction of the power consumption should be a useful tradeoff  相似文献

Automated segmentation of retinal vessels plays a pivotal role in early diagnosis of ophthalmic disorders. In this paper, a blood vessel segmentation algorithm using an enhanced fuzzy min-max neural network supervised classifier is proposed. The input to the network is an optimal 11-D feature vector which consists of spatial as well as frequency domain features extracted from each pixel of a fundus image. The essence of the method is its hyperbox classifier which performs online learning and gives binary output without any need of post-processing. The method is tested on publicly available databases DRIVE and STARE. The results are compared with the existing methods in the literature. The proposed method exhibits efficient performance and can be implemented in computer aided screening and diagnosis of retinal diseases. The method attains an average accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of 95.73%, 74.75% and 97.81% on DRIVE database and 95.51%, 74.65% and 97.11% on STARE database, respectively.

An embedded RISC microprocessor core fabricated in a six-layer metal 0.18-μm CMOS process implementing the ARMTM V.5TE instruction set is described. The core described is the first implementation of the Intel XScale MicroarchitectureTM. The microprocessor core, which includes caches, memory management units, and a bus controller, comprises a hard-embedded block 16.77 mm2 in size. The implementation is primarily custom logic in a variety of circuit styles. The processor dissipates 450 mW at 1.3 V, 600 MHz, and scales between 55 mW at 0.7 V, 200 MHz, and 900 mW at 1.65 V 800 MHz. Architectural performance is 1000 MIPS at 800 MHz with efficiency ranging from over 850 MIPS/W at 1.65 V to over 4500 MIPS/W at 0.75 V. Architectural and circuit design approaches for low power and high performance are described and measured results from the initial implementation are shown. OBJECTIVE: To compare incidence rates of childhood-onset IDDM among black African-heritage populations age 0-19 years in the Caribbean region. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Population-based registries for IDDM were established on the eastern Caribbean islands of Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Tortola using standardized criteria from the World Health Organization (WHO) Multinational Project for Childhood Diabetes (DiaMond). Average annual incidence rates (IR) with 95% CI for 0-19 years olds were computed using the DiaMond Registry program for the 5-year period from 1989 to 1993. Poisson regression analysis was used to determine differences in incidence rates. RESULTS: The highest incidence rate for 0-19 year olds was for the black African-heritage population of St. Croix (IR 10.09 per 100,000; 95% CI 4.35-19.89), one of the U.S. Caribbean islands. A significant (P < 0.05) 3.9 variation in IDDM incidence across the registries was found when the IR for St. Croix was compared to the IR for Barbados (IR 2.57 per 100,000; 95% CI 0.90-4.64). CONCLUSIONS: The variation in childhood-onset IDDM incidence rates among the black populations of the eastern Caribbean islands is consistent with the geographic variation in IDDM incidence seen among African Americans in the U.S. Variation in incidence rates of childhood diabetes in black populations may reflect differences in level of white genetic admixture or exposure to environmental diabetogenic agents.  相似文献

STUDY DESIGN: Case reports. OBJECTIVES: To define the radiologic characteristics, management, and results of Zone III fractures of the sacrum. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Zone III fractures of the sacrum are rare. There are few case reports of longitudinal fractures of the sacrum involving Zone III. METHOD: The authors report eight (four transverse, four longitudinal) Zone III fractures of the sacrum. Seven patients were treated surgically by posterior sacral decompression with or without transiliac bar fixation, and one neurologically intact patient with undisplaced longitudinal fracture was treated conservatively. RESULTS: Two neurologically compromised patients had return of normal bladder and rectal function, and another had bladder recovery only. The rest continued to show neurogenic bladder and required intermittent self-catheterization. The patient with bilateral foot drop had partial motor recovery and did not require an ankle-foot orthosis. CONCLUSIONS: These fractures may be difficult to diagnose in polytraumatized patients and require a high index of suspicion. The longitudinal fractures may not be apparent on anteroposterior radiographs, and computed tomography scan may be necessary for establishing the diagnosis. The transverse fractures may show a characteristic step ladder sign on anteroposterior radiographs when the fracture is displaced severely. Proper lateral radiographs often are difficult to obtain, particularly in obese polytraumatized patients. Routine computed tomography scan may overlook the diagnosis. Therefore 2- to 3-mm computed tomography cuts are recommended, which may show double neural foramina in presence of significant anteroposterior displacement and overriding of the fracture fragments. Sagittal computed tomography reconstructions are useful in evaluating the transverse fractures. Posterior sacral decompression is safe and probably promotes nerve root recovery. Longitudinal fractures may be stabilized satisfactorily by transiliac rod fixation.  相似文献
