Partial glycerides are widely used ingredients in confectionery products that can be produced from natural fats. In a biocatalytic partial hydrolysis of cocoa butter and palm oil fractions, a product mixture containing 1.5% monoglycerides and 5.5% diglycerides intended for the use in confectionery products was created. This study is a proof of principle that shows the feasibility of monitoring the biocatalytic partial hydrolysis of these two natural fats in situ with ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. An economic approach was utilised for calibration since partial glyceride calibration standards are costly and poorly available. The released compounds were quantified by means of chemometric modelling, and the model was validated with gas chromatography. Resulting root mean square errors were in the low per cent range. Additionally, the results indicate that distinction of the released free fatty acids is possible with ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.  相似文献

This paper summarises the methods and some of the findings of a large cohort study of dementia and cognitive decline in subjects aged over 75 years in Cambridge, particularly regarding the incidence wave. From a sample of 1968 subjects previously studied in a prevalence study in 1985-1987, survivors were restudied at 2.4 years, in a two-stage design employing the Mini; Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Cambridge Examination for Mental Disorders of the Elderly (CAMDEX). High incidence rates of dementia were found, which rose steeply with age, particularly for Alzheimer's disease. New minimal dementia and milder cognitive impairment were also common. Cognitive decline on the MMSE showed a near normal, non-bimodal distribution. The sample has since been restudied at intervals for a total of up to 9 years to document longitudinal cognitive change. Brains have been obtained for post mortem neuropathological and molecular biological study, particularly of the early sequential changes associated with cognitive decline and dementia.  相似文献

Platinum diselenide (PtSe2) is a 2D material with outstanding electronic and piezoresistive properties. The material can be grown at low temperatures in a scalable manner, which makes it extremely appealing for many potential electronics, photonics, and sensing applications. Here, the nanocrystalline structure of different PtSe2 thin films grown by thermally assisted conversion (TAC) is investigated and is correlated with their electronic and piezoresistive properties. Scanning transmission electron microscopy for structural analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for chemical analysis, and Raman spectroscopy for phase identification are used. Electronic devices are fabricated using transferred PtSe2 films for electrical characterization and piezoresistive gauge factor measurements. The variations of crystallite size and their orientations are found to have a strong correlation with the electronic and piezoresistive properties of the films, especially the sheet resistivity and the effective charge carrier mobility. The findings may pave the way for tuning and optimizing the properties of TAC-grown PtSe2 toward numerous applications.  相似文献

In the present work we investigated the most commonly applied methods used for sampling of microorganisms in the field of metabolomics in order to unravel potential sources of error previously ignored but of utmost importance for accurate metabolome analysis. To broaden the significance of our study, we investigated different Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, i.e., Bacillus subtilis, Corynebacterium glutamicum, Escherichia coli, Gluconobacter oxydans, Pseudomonas putida, and Zymononas mobilis, and analyzed metabolites from different catabolic and anabolic intracellular pathways. Quenching of cells with cold methanol prior to cell separation and extraction led to drastic loss (>60%) of all metabolites tested due to unspecific leakage. Using fast filtration, Gram-negative bacteria also revealed a significant loss (>80%) when inappropriate washing solutions with low ionic strength were applied. Adapting the ionic strength of the washing solution to that of the cultivation medium could almost completely avoid this problem. Gram-positive strains did not show significant leakage independent of the washing solution. Fast filtration with sampling times of several seconds prior to extraction appears to be a suitable approach for metabolites with relatively high intracellular level and low turnover such as amino acids or TCA cycle intermediates. Comparison of metabolite levels in the culture supernatant and the cell interior revealed that the common assumption of whole broth quenching protocols attributing the metabolites found exclusively to the intracellular pools may not be valid in many cases. In such cases a differential approach correcting for medium-contained metabolites is required.  相似文献

2D materials display very promising intrinsic material properties, with multiple applications in electronics, photonics, and sensing. In particular layered platinum diselenide has shown high potential due to its layer-dependent tunable bandgap, low-temperature growth, and high environmental stability. Here, the conformal and area selective (AS) low-temperature growth of layered PtSe2 is presented defining a new paradigm for 2D material integration. The thermally-assisted conversion of platinum which is deposited by AS atomic layer deposition to PtSe2 is demonstrated on various substrates with a distinct 3D topography. Further the viability of the approach is presented by successful on-chip integration of hybrid semiconductor devices, namely by the manufacture of a highly sensitive ammonia sensors channel with 3D topography and fully integrated infrared-photodetectors on silicon photonics waveguides. The presented methodologies of conformal and AS growth therefore lay the foundation for new design routes for the synthesis of more complex hybrid structures with 2D materials.  相似文献

Ferroelectric thin film capacitors are promising candidates for non-volatile ferroelectric Random Access Memories (FeRAM's) as they exhibit a switchable polarization. There are three important failure-mechanisms influencing the performance of these capacitors and disturbing the long-term stability and reliability under operation conditions fatigue, retention, and imprint. The imprint effect of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films was investigated in this paper. Establishing and maintaining a polarization state leads to a shift of the hysteresis loop on the voltage axis and also to a loss of polarization. The voltage shift as well as the loss of polarization can cause a failure of the ferroelectric memory cell (read and write failure). The experimental results obtained on PZT films are discussed in view of the predictions of imprint models proposed in the literature.  相似文献
