A 2-GHz direct-conversion receiver for wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) is presented. It includes two low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), an I/Q demodulator, and two sixth-order baseband channel select filters with programmable gain. Quadrature local oscillator (LO) signals are generated on chip in a frequency divider flip-flop. An external interstage filter between the LNAs rejects transmitter leakage to relax demodulator linearity requirements. A low-voltage demodulator topology improves linearity as well as demodulator output pole accuracy. The active-RC baseband filter uses a programmable servo loop for offset compensation and provides an adjacent channel rejection of 39 dB. Programmable gain over 71-dB range in 1-dB steps is merged with the filter to maximize dynamic range. An automatic on-chip frequency calibration scheme provides better than 1.5% corner frequency accuracy. The receiver is integrated in a 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS process with metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors. Measured receiver performance includes a 6.5-dB noise figure, IIP2 of +27 dBm, and IIP3 of -8.6 dBm. Power consumption is 45 mW.  相似文献

In the context of object interaction and manipulation, one characteristic of a robust grasp is its ability to comply with external perturbations applied to the grasped object while still maintaining the grasp. In this work, we introduce an approach for grasp adaptation which learns a statistical model to adapt hand posture solely based on the perceived contact between the object and fingers. Using a multi-step learning procedure, the model dataset is built by first demonstrating an initial hand posture, which is then physically corrected by a human teacher pressing on the fingertips, exploiting compliance in the robot hand. The learner then replays the resulting sequence of hand postures, to generate a dataset of posture-contact pairs that are not influenced by the touch of the teacher. A key feature of this work is that the learned model may be further refined by repeating the correction-replay steps. Alternatively, the model may be reused in the development of new models, characterized by the contact signatures of a different object. Our approach is empirically validated on the iCub robot. We demonstrate grasp adaptation in response to changes in contact, and show successful model reuse and improved adaptation with additional rounds of model refinement.  相似文献

The sewage sludge dewatering produced by wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is a multifaceted process due to the presence of colloid fractions. Electro-osmosis could be a suitable technique to reduce the water content of the final sludge. Electric fields of 10, 15, and 20?V/cm have been studied for electro-osmosis tests under the pressure of a static or rotating piston, obtaining a dry solids content up to 40–45%, with respect to 25–30% obtained by mechanical methods. In order to optimize the process, the corrosion behavior and the wear of the anodic material appear to be the main critical aspects, due to the high circulating current density and the use of a rotating electrode. We compared the efficiency and the corrosion resistance of dimensionally stable anodes (DSA) with respect to bare stainless steel (AISI 304) and stainless steel coated by PVD technique with TiN, AlTiN, and DLC. Characterization of the anode surfaces by SEM and potentiodynamic tests show that DSA is the most suitable material for our application. However, efficiencies of the electro-osmosis processes have been found comparable, in terms of developed current densities and total energy consumptions, for short-test duration.  相似文献

When advising farmers on how to control Johne's disease in an infected herd, one of the main recommendations is to avoid feeding waste milk to calves and instead feed calf milk replacer (CMR). This advice is based on the assumption that CMR is free of viable Mycobacterium avium ssp. paratuberculosis (MAP) cells, an assumption that has not previously been challenged. We tested commercial CMR products (n = 83) obtained from dairy farms around the United States by the peptide-mediated magnetic separation (PMS)-phage assay, PMS followed by liquid culture (PMS-culture), and direct IS900 quantitative PCR (qPCR). Conventional microbiological analyses for total mesophilic bacterial counts, coliforms, Salmonella, coagulase-negative staphylococci, streptococci, nonhemolytic Corynebacterium spp., and Bacillus spp. were also performed to assess the overall microbiological quality of the CMR. Twenty-six (31.3%) of the 83 CMR samples showed evidence of the presence of MAP. Seventeen (20.5%) tested positive for viable MAP by the PMS-phage assay, with plaque counts ranging from 6 to 1,212 pfu/50 mL of reconstituted CMR (average 248.5 pfu/50 mL). Twelve (14.5%) CMR samples tested positive for viable MAP by PMS-culture; isolates from all 12 of these samples were subsequently confirmed by whole-genome sequencing to be different cattle strains of MAP. Seven (8.4%) CMR samples tested positive for MAP DNA by IS900 qPCR. Four CMR samples tested positive by both PMS-based tests and 5 CMR samples tested positive by IS900 qPCR plus one or other of the PMS-based tests, but only one CMR sample tested positive by all 3 MAP detection tests applied. All conventional microbiology results were within current standards for whole milk powders. A significant association existed between higher total bacterial counts and presence of viable MAP indicated by either of the PMS-based assays. This represents the first published report of the isolation of viable MAP from CMR. Our findings raise concerns about the potential ability of MAP to survive manufacture of dried milk-based products.  相似文献

This study explores the nature and extent of Spanish language translation of hospital websites. A quantitative content analysis of 121 U.S. hospital websites located in Hispanic communities was conducted. Results indicate that a significant number of U.S. hospitals fail on their websites to offer equal content for Spanish language users. The study also examines several factors potentially associated with the incidence of website translation. First, organizational factors such as hospital size, ownership type and formal statements of diversity commitment are investigated. Second, demographic factors such as county population size and Hispanic population size are also considered. Hispanics' use of the Internet, the digital divide, culture's impact on Internet use, and eHealth provide a background for discussion of the findings.  相似文献

The criterion used to verify the cathodic protection condition of a structure is based on structure-to-electrolyte potential measurement, which can include an ohmic drop contribution. Among the available techniques, the use of potential probes with internal reference electrode and of corrosion coupons with a so-called soil-access tube represents the most appropriate way to measure the IR-free potential, eliminating the ohmic drop contribution. An alternative is represented by on-off technique if equalising, galvanic or stray currents are not present. Laboratory tests have been carried out in soil-simulating solution on cathodically protected carbon steel in order to evaluate the effectiveness of off-potential for the assessment of cathodic protection. Instant-off potential is not reliable in overprotection condition; moreover, the accuracy of the measurement is strongly influenced by the presence of external current as galvanic or equalising currents. The effect of low-pass filter in the data acquisition system on the potential reading is discussed.  相似文献

An inexpensive modification to a gas chromatography injector liner is reported that facilitates continuous admission of analyte into a gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS) for methods development. The MS methods development liner can be made by making simple modifications to commercially available liners and fits into standard injectors in place of the normal liners without any need to break vacuum in the MS. The injector temperature and gas flow rates are adjusted to provide appropriate analyte levels in the MS, which can be admitted under conditions identical with those of real analyses, including co-admission of column bleed. The device is particularly useful for development of tandem MS methods in GC/MS/MS instruments, which are configured with the GC as the sole sample inlet.  相似文献

Fatty acids with conjugated double bonds have attracted great interest because of their reported potent bioactivities. However, there are currently no rapid methods for their structural characterization. We report here a convenient mass spectrometry-based strategy to establish double bond geometry by analysis of collisional dissociation products of cis/trans and trans/cis conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs), as methyl esters, and to distinguish CLAs from homoallylic (methylene-interrupted) fatty acids in a single-stage mass spectrum. A series of CLA standards with double bond positions 6,8; 7,9; 8,10; 9,11; 10,12; 11,13; 12,14; and 13,15, with all four possible geometries (cis/trans; trans/cis; cis/cis; trans/trans) were analyzed. The m/z 54 (1-methyleneimino)-1-ethenylium ion, generated by self-reaction of acetonitrile under chemical ionization conditions, reacts with unsaturated fatty acids to yield an [M + 54]+ ion, which decomposes in the single-stage mass spectrum by loss of neutral methanol to form [M + 54 - 32]+. The ratio of [M + 54]+/[M + 54 - 32]+ in the single-stage mass spectra of CLA isomers is 1 order of magnitude less than for homoallylic diene FAME. Collisional dissociation of the [M + 54]+ ion yields two diagnostic ions that contain the alpha- and omega-carbon atoms and is characteristic of double bond position in the analyte. The fragment vinylic to the trans double bond is significantly more abundant than that for the cis double bond, revealing double bond geometry. The ratio of alpha to we diagnostic ion abundances is >4.8 for cis/trans isomers, <0.5 for trans/cis isomers, and 0.7-3.2 for cis/cis and trans/trans isomers. This method provides a rapid alternative to conventional conjugated fatty acid analysis and, together with complementary elution time information provided by gas chromatography, enables rapid, positive identification of double bond position and geometry in most CLA FAME.  相似文献
