Microalgae can efficiently fix carbon dioxide through their phototropic metabolism, and have been recognized as a promising bioresource for animal feed, health food, fuel, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products. However, since microalgae in cultivated medium have a low biomass concentration (0.1–1% w/w), both harvesting and concentration of microalgal biomass are often required prior to the production of commercial products. Efficient and cost-effective dewatering and drying methods for microalgae heavily affect the overall energy consumption and production cost of microalgal products. This review describes the characteristics of commonly used dewatering and drying technologies, and critically evaluates the feasibility for their use to treat microalgal biomass. No single dewatering or drying method can satisfactorily handle all types of microalgae. The suitability of each method depends on the properties of the microalgae suspension, the required process design, the quality of the end product, and the related capital and production costs.  相似文献

The peer-to-peer (P2P) network structure is widely employed for video streaming applications because of its high stability, flexible extensibility, and ability to distribute data stream loading among different peer nodes. Numerous P2P schemes have been proposed for video on demand (VoD) applications. High video source searching cost and long response latency are always issues in dealing with VCR functionality, such as jump and fast-forward/rewind, because of asynchronous interactive and random join/leave behaviors of end users. To overcome this bottleneck, an interleaved video frame distribution (IVFD) scheme is proposed to support full VCR functionality in a P2P environment without searching for new sources. Instead of acquiring video stream data from a single parent peer in the published schemes, each child peer in the IVFD scheme can simultaneously acquire interleaved video data from multiple parent peers. When a client peer carries out arbitrary VCR operations, such as jump or fast-forward/rewind, its parent peers are still able to provide intermittent video stream data for the client peer; thus, no video source search is necessary. Simulation results reveal excellent load distribution performance and response latency for VCR operations in the proposed IVFD scheme.  相似文献

After industrial wastewater sludge passed through an acid-extraction process to reclaim most of the copper ions in it, the residue may still need to be treated by stabilization technologies. The common method for the stabilization of hazardous waste in Taiwan is by cement solidification. However, this method has the disadvantage of an increase in waste volume. In this study, it was tried to combine the advantages of sulfur anions and phosphate anions with the characteristics of microwave energy to offer a new method which can avoid the disadvantage of cement solidification. From the results, it was found that the assistance of heating in sludge stabilization with additives was effective. Huge amounts of additives were saved. Compared with the assistance of the traditional electrical-heating in sludge stabilization with additives, that of the microwave process saved much time and was more powerful. However, when the reaction time was longer, a re-leaching situation would occur. The hybrid microwave process, a procedure of leading an inert gas into the microwave process, could overcome the disadvantage of the microwave process with regard to the long reaction time. Finally, a modified hybrid microwave process which reduced the use of gas was performed and recommended.  相似文献

Human suffering from vertiginous might experience their body tilting and may eventually fall over. The analytical understanding and applications of human posture control could possibly be extended to understand the postural sway. On the basis of a simplified human body model with two stiff segments and articulation at the hip and ankle, this paper presents a two stage feedback control law for assisting balance in the human’s standing posture under interference of subjective verticals. A robust control law is developed from a control-theoretical point of view to guarantee posture stability under disturbances caused by vertigo. In understanding the task of posture control feedback, the control theory based on the human model could be a source of inspiration to physiologists for physiological modeling and understanding of complex mechanical and neurological interactions. The results developed are to be used as a basis for stance posture control of bionic robots and motion-aid robots.  相似文献

The success of the Internet and the use of broadband in homes have caused a gradual shift in traffic on the Internet from data to multimedia communication. Multimedia applications typically include a large quantity of video/audio information. Streaming technology is normally adopted to handle the transmission of multimedia traffic and thus reduce the buffer requirement on the client side and the service request/response time. This work focuses on the transmission of MP3 music which has a constant bit rate characteristic. The design of both the server side and the client side of the MP3-music on demand (MoD) system with streaming technology, is considered to meet the quality of service (QoS) requirements of MP3 music. A stream buffering technique is used and an adaptive rate control mechanism is applied in combination with a client feedback packet to prevent stream buffer overflow or underflow on the client side, and thereby accommodate the network delay, jitter, and timing deviation between the server machine and the client host. A server self-timing revision scheme is used to reduce the network overhead of the feedback mechanism. The adaptive rate control mechanism is developed and verified using a computer simulation. Finally, for completeness a MoD system is constructed with a low-cost embedded network system to which an Altera FPGA is applied to provide cut-through data movement and an adaptive rate control mechanism is realized to evaluate QoS.  相似文献

Microwave stabilized heavy metal sludge was used as an adsorbent to remove the copper ions from aqueous solution. The adsorption characteristics of copper on the stabilized-sludge were studied by various models, such as Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equation. Results show that the pH(zpc) of stabilized-sludge was at 9.2-9.5. Moreover, the adsorption of copper ions onto the stabilized-sludge surface was mainly on account of the heterogeneous surface of the stabilized-sludge. In the dynamic study, the experimental data was fitted to the intraparticle diffusion model, pseudo-first order model and pseudo-second order model. However, the experimental data was only well correlated with pseudo-second order model with the correlation coefficient>0.995. Furthermore, both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equations were found to represent the measured adsorption data well. From the Langmuir equation, the adsorption capacity increased from 18 to 28 mg/g as the temperature rose from 15 to 55 degrees C, since this adsorption process was an endothermic reaction. After this adsorption process, copper ions can be concentrated on and in a small bead and recovery efficiently.  相似文献

A series of polyaniline (PANI)/Na+-montmorillonite (MMT) clay and PANI/organo-MMT nanocomposite materials have been successfully prepared by in situ emulsion polymerization in the presence of inorganic nanolayers of hydrophilic Na+-MMT clay or organophilic organo-MMT clay with DBSA and KPS as surfactant and initiator, respectively. The as-synthesized Na+-PCN and organo-PCN materials were characterized and compared by Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, wide-angle powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).Na+-PCN materials in the form of coatings with low loading of Na+-MMT clay (e.g., 3 wt.%, CLAN3) on cold-rolled steel (CRS) were found much superior in corrosion protection over those of organo-PCN materials with same clay loading based on a series of electrochemical measurements of corrosion potential, polarization resistance, corrosion current and impedance spectroscopy in 5 wt.% aqueous NaCl electrolyte. The molecular weights of PANI extracted from PCN materials and neat PANI were determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with NMP as eluant. Effects of material composition on the gas permeability, optical properties and electrical conductivity of neat PANI and a series of PCN materials, in the form of free-standing film, solution and powder-pressed pellet, were also studied by gas permeability analyzer (GPA), ultraviolet-vis spectra and four-point probe technique, respectively.  相似文献

Cu-SiO2 films were prepared by the sol-gel method. Two-dimensional fractal copper films were formed after the films were thermally treated in reducing atmosphere. dc resistances of the films decrease 12 orders of magnitude as the content of copper increases from 70 to 80 mol%. During the resistance measurement under argon atmosphere, samples showed a sharp increase or decrease of resistance at a transition temperature which is ascribed to the oxidation of Cu into CuO. The oxidation was also observed in the in situ high temperature X-ray diffraction under vacuum condition. The evolution of the morphology of the films was studied by scanning electron microscopy. As the content of copper increases, the forms of copper particles change from discrete to aggregate then to interconnecting. The coverage coefficients of the copper range from 23 to 55% and the fractal dimensions range from 1.65 to 1.77. The percolation thresholds for the coverage coefficient and the fractal dimension are about 33% and 1.71, respectively, which corresponds to the sample containing 72.5 mol% of Cu.  相似文献
