Free radical fast photo-cured gate dielectric for top-gate polymer field effect transistors

We demonstrated top-gate organic field effect transistors (OFETs) made with free radical photo-cured polymer gate dielectrics and poly(3-hexylthiophene). We introduced a new approach of cross linking dielectric polymers in OFETs by using acrylate monomers cured with UV irradiation directly on the semiconductor. Three different blends were formulated: one self-initiating acrylate oligomer and two epoxy acrylate monomers mixed with 4-phenylbenzophenone as photo initiator and N-methyldiethanolamine as amine synergist. Thin films of these blends were cured in air within one minute. The curing process was monitored with FT-IR spectroscopy and the effect of a wetting agent was studied by measuring the CV characteristics of metal–insulator-semiconductor (MIS) structures made with these formulations. OFETs made with the demonstrated formulations showed high on/off ratios (10⁵–10⁶) and low sub-threshold slopes (0.44–1.42 V/dec).

Pulsed Photoacoustic Spectroscopy of I2 and NO2

A novel approach based on the use of ?? = 532?nm pulsed radiation obtained by the second-harmonic generation from the Q-switched Nd: YAG laser and its application for excitation of acoustic modes in a specially designed multi-resonant high-Q factor photoacoustic (PA) cell is reported. The cell is employed for time-domain spectroscopic studies of gaseous NO₂ and I₂ molecules. The time-resolved spectra of NO₂ and I₂ were recorded up to 8000?Hz and 26?000?Hz, respectively. It has been demonstrated for the first time that excited cavity modes which correspond to different transition lines of the I₂ molecules show different behaviors under different pressure and input laser energy. The lowest limit of detection attained with the proposed PA system for NO₂ buffered in realistic air was 14.6?ppbV.     

Emotional Dynamics and Coping Mechanisms to Generate Human-Like Agent Behaviors

Emotion mechanisms represent an important moderating factor of human behavior. Thus, they are necessary to produce realistic behavioral simulations. This work addresses this challenging issue by incorporating emotional processes into an agent model. We intend to show the potential of emotions and coping mechanisms to produce fast and human-like emotional behaviors, particularly, in emergency situations. We focus on the interplay of emotions and goals and its impact on agent behavior. Emotions constitute heuristics to agent decision making. They induce emotion-specific goals that orient agent goal adoption mechanisms and fasten its behavior selection.
