Although a higher incidence of ectopic pregnancy has been reported after in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer, three ectopic pregnancies in the same woman is very rare. A patient of 32 years underwent IVF-embryo transfer six times within 3 years. Three of four conceptions resulted in ectopic pregnancies. The first involved simultaneous intrauterine and left tubal pregnancy, the second was a right tubal pregnancy, and the third was a right interstitial pregnancy. In IVF-embryo transfer, bilateral salpingectomy does not remove the risk of interstitial or cornual pregnancy. 相似文献

We recently cloned IRS-4, a new member of the insulin receptor substrate (IRS) family. In this study we have characterized IRS-4 in human embryonic kidney 293 cells, where it was originally discovered. IRS-4 was the predominant insulin-elicited phosphotyrosine protein in these cells. Subcellular fractionation revealed that about 50% of IRS-4 was located in cellular membranes, and immunofluorescence indicated that IRS-4 was concentrated at the plasma membrane. Immunoelectron microscopy conclusively established that a large portion of the IRS-4 was located at the cytoplasmic surface of the plasma membrane in both the unstimulated and insulin-treated states. IRS-4 was found to be associated with two src homology 2 (SH2) domain-containing proteins, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and Grb2, the adaptor to the guanine nucleotide exchange factor for Ras. On the other hand, no significant association was detected with two other SH2 domain proteins, the SH2-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 2 and phospholipase Cgamma. Insulin-like growth factor I acting through its receptor was as effective as insulin in eliciting tyrosine phosphorylation of IRS-4, but interleukin 4 and epidermal growth factor were ineffective. 相似文献

In this investigation, two novel multifunctional initiators for ring-opening polymerization were synthesized in three steps starting from cholic acid. Thus, cholic acid (1a) and its methyl ester (1b) were quantitatively transformed, via solvent-free reaction with succinic anhydride, to the corresponding 3, 7, 12-tri-hemisuccinate derivatives (3a-b). The polyacidic compounds (3a-b) were treated with thionyl chloride affording the corresponding acyl chlorides 4a-b which, in turn, were reacted with ethylene glycol to give the derivatives 2a-b having three and four primary alcohol end groups. These compounds, fully characterized by 1H, 13C NMR and mass spectrometry, have been assessed as initiators in the ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide using stannous octanoate as catalyst. The resulting three- and four-armed star-shaped poly(L-lactide)s, which were characterized by 1H NMR, SEC, DSC and TGA analysis, were amorphous, and their glass transition temperatures ranged from 13.7 to 36.5 °C. Additionally, some cholic acid-based star-shaped polylactic structures recently published have been critically reconsidered showing that these molecules, described as star polymers, were actually linear polymers. 相似文献

We present a photogrammetric endoscope to measure three dimensional (3D) shapes of inner cylindrical surfaces by fringe projection. The basic configuration includes two identical cameras aligned with the optical axis and facing each other, conical lenses, and a 360 degrees helical fringe projector. The helical fringe pattern is phase shifted and acquired by both cameras. The phase patterns are used to acquire data from the surface in a regular cylindrical mesh. A prototype was built, calibrated, and tested. We present the results and an application to inspect internal welding seams and misalignment of welded joints in 150 mm (6 in.) diameter pipelines. 相似文献

This study quantifies the environmental impact of milk production of Italian Mediterranean buffaloes and points out the farm characteristics that mainly affect their environmental performance. Life cycle assessment was applied in a sample of 6 farms. The functional unit was 1 kg of normalized buffalo milk (LBN), with a reference milk fat and protein content of 8.3 and 4.73%, respectively. The system boundaries included the agricultural phase of the buffalo milk chain from cradle to farm gate. An economic criterion was adopted to allocate the impacts on milk production. Impact categories investigated were global warming (GW), abiotic depletion (AD), photochemical ozone formation (PO), acidification (AC), and eutrophication (EU). The contribution to the total results of the following farm activities were investigated: (1) on-farm energy consumption, (2) manure management, (3) manure application, (4) on-farm feed production (comprising production and application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides), (5) purchased feed production, (6) enteric fermentation, and (7) transport of purchased feeds, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides from producers to farms. Global warming associated with 1 kg of LBN resulted in 5.07 kg of CO2 Eq [coefficient of variation (CV) = 21.9%], AD was 3.5 × 10−3 kg of Sb Eq (CV = 51.7%), PO was 6.8 × 10−4 kg of C2H4 Eq (CV = 28.8%), AC was 6.5 × 10−2 kg of SO2 Eq (CV = 30.3%), and EU was 3.3 × 10−2 kg of PO43− Eq (CV = 36.5%). The contribution of enteric fermentation and manure application to GW is 37 and 20%, respectively; on-farm consumption, on-farm feed production, and purchased feed production are the main contributors to AD; about 70% of PO is due to enteric fermentation; manure management and manure application are responsible for 55 and 25% of AC and 25 and 55% of EU, respectively. Methane and N2O are responsible for 44 and 43% of GW, respectively. Crude oil consumption is responsible for about 72% of AD; contribution of CH4 to PO is 77%; NH3 is the main contributor to AC (92%); NO3− and NH3 are responsible for 55 and 41% of EU, respectively; contribution of P to EU is only 3.2%. The main characteristics explaining the significant variability of life cycle assessment are milk productivity and amount of purchased feed per kilogram of LBN. Improvement of LBN production per buffalo cow is the main strategy for reducing GW and PO; improvement of the efficiency of feed use is the strategy proposed for mitigating AD, PO, AC, and EU. 相似文献

There are 104 hydroelectric facilities proposed to be installed in the watersheds that feed the Pantanal, a vast floodplain wetland located mostly in Brazil. The Pantanal is host to 23 long‐distance migratory fish species that ascend upland tributaries to spawn. A Geographic Information System was used to predict the impact of hydroelectric dams on potential migration routes for these species. Both anthropogenic (hydroelectric dams) and natural barriers were included in the analysis. Natural barriers were identified by river slope. Critical river slopes of 10 and 25%, above which fish were predicted to be incapable of ascending, were modeled as natural barriers. Based on this model, we show that between 2 and 14% of rivers in the Pantanal watershed are naturally blocked to fish migration. An additional 5 to 9% of rivers are currently blocked due to 35 existing hydroelectric facilities. If all proposed dams are built, the area flooded by new reservoirs will triple and the river kilometers blocked will double, blocking 25 to 32% of the river system to fish migration. The Taquari and Cuiabá River sub‐basins will be the most impacted, each having more than 70% of their rivers blocked. The impact of individual proposed facilities on the loss of migration routes is related to their proximity to existing barriers. Fourteen of the proposed dams are upstream from existing barriers and will therefore not further restrict long‐distance fish migration routes while proposed dams are predicted to close an additional 11,000 to 12,000 km of river channels. 相似文献
