The synthesis of linear frequency sweeps or chirps is required, among others, in frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar systems for object position estimation. Low phase and frequency errors in sweeps with high bandwidth are a prerequisite for good accuracy and resolution, but, in certain applications where high measurement rates are desired, the additional demand for short sweep cycles has to be met. Transient phenomena in dynamic synthesizers as well as nonlinear system behavior usually cause unknown phase errors in the system output. For the class of phase-locked-loop (PLL)-based frequency synthesizers, a novel output phase-measurement method and dedicated circuitry are proposed that allow significant reduction of phase errors by adaptive input predistortion. The measurement procedure is implemented within the PLL control circuitry and does not require external equipment. The application of this method to PLL system identification and linearization of extremely short frequency sweeps is shown  相似文献

A cascadable, optical differential amplifier with an active output is realized in AlGaAs-GaAs by the monolithic integration of three devices: A photodiode (PD), a light-emitting diode (LED) and a combination of a photodiode and a junction field-effect transistor (PINFET). A minimum optical switching power of 15 pW, an optical gain of more than 106, a contrast ratio greater than 1000 and an optical output power of 17 μW are obtained. For a contrast ratio of 10, a switching energy of 2 pJ is required, resulting in a unity gain bandwidth of 4.2 MHz  相似文献

Work carried out by European Associations on Safety and Environment inside the EC Fusion Technology Programme and by NET has been concentrated on safety-related guidance and on safety assessment of the NET Predesign. Emphasis has been put on analysis of accident sequences of regulatory concern up to worst case accidents, including quantification of consequences to components, systems, and plant, and of doses to the public. Probabilistic safety studies for the most important systems and broadly for the entire plant have been performed to supplement the calculated accidental doses by expectation values for their occurrence rate, and to check the relevance of the reference accident sequences selected initially by judgment. Waste masses per year of operation and for decommissioning have been quantified. For two countries and according to the practices and regulations of these countries, volumes of radioactive waste packaged for final disposal have been determined.Presented at the IAEA Technical Committee Meeting on Developments in Fusion Safety, Toronto, June 7–11, 1993.  相似文献

In this paper, the novel inverse synthetic aperture secondary radar wireless positioning technique is introduced. The proposed concept allows for a precise spatial localization of a backscatter transponder even in dense multipath environments. A novel secondary radar signal evaluation concept compensates for the unknown modulation phase of the returned signal and thus leads to radar signals comparable to common primary radar. With use of this concept, inverse synthetic aperture radar algorithms can be applied to the signals of backscatter transponder systems. In simulations and first experiments, we used a broadband holographic reconstruction principle to realize the inverse synthetic aperture approach. The movement of the transponder along a short arbitrary aperture path is determined with assisting relative sensors (dead reckoning or inertia sensors). A set of signals measured along the aperture is adaptively focused to the transponder position. By this focusing technique, multipath reflections can be suppressed impressively and a precise indoor positioning becomes feasible. With our technique, completely new and powerful options for integrated navigation and sensor fusion in RF identification systems and wireless local positioning systems are now possible.  相似文献

Several aspects of swine-confinement farming appear to be leading to adverse respiratory effects. This study was set up in a longitudinal design to study the association between certain characteristics of farms or the way they are run and a decline in lung function. A cohort of 171 pig farmers was observed for 3 years. Lung function was measured. Exposure to farm characteristics was determined at the start of the observation period, using data from standardized farm surveys and from diaries kept by the participants. Mean decline in lung function was 73 mL/year for forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and 55 mL/year for forced vital capacity (FVC). A longitudinal decline in FEV1 was significantly associated with the use of quaternary ammonium compounds as disinfectants (an additional 43 mL/year) and also with the use of an automated dry feeding system (an additional 28 mL/year). The association with the use of wood shavings as bedding material was not statistically significant. The impact of these characteristics in a longitudinal study provides stronger evidence for causal inference than that shown in previous cross-sectional designs. This may be useful in promoting preventive measures.  相似文献

This paper will summarize highlights of the safety approach and discuss the ITER EDA safety activities. The ITER safety approach is driven by three major objectives: (1) Enhancement or improvement of fusion's intrinsic safety characteristics to the maximum extent feasible, which includes a minimization of the dependence on dedicated safety systems; (2) Selection of conservative design parameters and development of a robust design to accommodate uncertainties in plasma physics as well as the lack of operational experience and data; and (3) Integration of engineered mitigation systems to enhance the safety assurance against potentially hazardous inventories in the device by deploying well-established nuclear safety approaches and methodologies tailored as appropriate for ITER.  相似文献

Mimicking natural tissue structure is crucial for engineered tissues with intended applications ranging from regenerative medicine to biorobotics. Native tissues are highly organized at the microscale, thus making these natural characteristics an integral part of creating effective biomimetic tissue structures. There exists a growing appreciation that the incorporation of similar highly organized microscale structures in tissue engineering may yield a remedy for problems ranging from vascularization to cell function control/determination. In this review, we highlight the recent progress in the field of microscale tissue engineering and discuss the use of various biomaterials for generating engineered tissue structures with microscale features. In particular, we will discuss the use of microscale approaches to engineer the architecture of scaffolds, generate artificial vasculature, and control cellular orientation and differentiation. In addition, the emergence of microfabricated tissue units and the modular assembly to emulate hierarchical tissues will be discussed.  相似文献

The investigations will deal with the mechanical behavior of a free standing spherical containment shell built for the latest type of a German pressurized water reactor. The diameter of the containment shell is 56 m. The wall thickness is 38 mm. The material used is the ferritic steel 15MnNi63.The investigation program includes theoretical as well as experimental activities and concerns four different accidents which are beyond the scope of the common design and licensing practice: containment behavior under quasi-static pressure increase up to containment failure; containment behavior under high transient pressures; containment vibrations due to earthquake loadings (consideration of shell imperfections); containment buckling due to earthquake loadings. First results concerning the containment behavior under quasi-static pressure increase are presented. It turns out that the mechanical failure of the containment shell is controlled by plastic instability. A computer program to describe this problem has been developed and membrane tests to check the computational methods have been carried out.  相似文献

In this paper, work is described on the fabrication of highly uniform 8×8 arrays of GaAs-AlGaAs vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL's). Oxide-confined VCSEL arrays show an average threshold current of 0.74±0.02 mA, an average output power of 2.05±0.03 mW at 8 mA and an average power conversion efficiency of 14.3%. Their wavelength is measured to be 967±0.35 nm over the array. In addition, we describe the alignment and integration of these device arrays with arrays of refractive microlenses to allow beam shaping typically required in system applications  相似文献
