This paper is an investigation into the performance of E-commerce applications. E-commerce has become one of the most popular applications of the web as a large population of web users is now benefiting from various on-line services including product searches, product purchases and product comparison. E-commerce provides users with 24-7 shopping facilities. However, the consequence of these benefits and facilities is the excessive load on E-commerce web servers and the performance degradation of E-commerce (eCom) requests they process. This paper addresses this issue and proposes a class-based priority scheme which classifies eCom requests into high and low priority requests. In E-commerce, some requests (e.g. payment) are generally considered more important than others (e.g. search or browse). We believe that by assigning class-based priorities at multiple service levels, E-commerce web servers can perform better and can improve the performance of high priority eCom requests. In this paper, we formally specify and implement the proposed scheme and evaluate its performance using multiple servers. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the performance of high priority eCom requests. 相似文献
This paper studies the thermal behavior of a wireless powered micropump operated using thermo-pneumatic actuation. Numerical analysis was performed to investigate the temporal conduction of the planar inductor-capacitor (LC) wireless heater and the heating chamber. The result shows that the temperature at the heating chamber reaches steady state temperature of 46.7°C within 40 seconds. The finding was further verified with experimental works through the fabrication of the planar LC heater (RF sensitive actuator) and micropump device using MEMS fabrication technique. The fabricated device delivers a minimum volume of 0.096 μL at the temperature of 29°C after being thermally activated for 10 s. The volume dispensed from the micropump device can precisely controlled by an increase of the electrical heating power within the cut-off input power of 0.22 W. Beyond the power, the heat transfer to the heating chamber exhibits non-linear behavior. In addition, wireless operation of the fabricated device shows successful release of color dye when the micropump is immersed in DI-water containing dish and excited by tuning the RF power.
Ten wells (EW-4, EW-5, EW-6, EW-7, EW-8, EW-9, EW-10, EW-12, EW-13 and EW-15) were interpreted using the composite well logs, data of core analysis, gamma-ray logs, formation micro-imager logs (FMI), and 3D seismic data in SEGY format to understand the stratigraphy of the onshore, Nile Delta, Egypt. The amplitude analysis of 3-D seismic horizon slice of Lower Abu Madi rock unit together with the lithostratigraphic correlation through the study area depending on the gamma-ray log “HSGR” (left to right increasing), and the identification of type of bed geometry, nature of bed contacts, type of the sedimentary structures and the dominant formative paleocurrents by using some available borehole micro-resistivity images (FMI) and core photos. All of these techniques are used together to define the different depositional facies and depositional environment of the Messinian clastics (Lower Abu Madi rock unit), which is considered to be the main reservoir in the El-Wastani gas field, onshore Nile Delta, Egypt. The present study of depositional pattern of the Upper Miocene clastics reservoir (Lower Abu Madi rock unit) revealed that it is represented by high sinuous meandering channels or paleo-valley and three types of fluvial facies were defined; channel fill, channel margin, and floodplain basin. 相似文献
Power saving represents a vital role in mobile communications networks such as IEEE 802.16m and LTE. Modern user equipment (UEs) require high data rates and low power consumption. It is found that arranging sleep mode mechanisms ensures UE battery longer lifetime. In this paper, different sleep mode mechanisms are investigated for both IEEE 802.16m and LTE networks. The analyses are based on Markov and Semi-Markov chains. It is focused on the determination of UE transition state. Web traffic model parameters were considered in MATLAB simulation and a comparison assessment was conducted between WiMAX IEEE 802.16m and LTE DRX. It was found that LTE DRX sleep mode provides more power saving than WiMAX IEEE 802.16m sleep mode. The study is now implemented for 5G networks with encouraging results. 相似文献
With integration of advanced long term evolution networks (LTE networks) in mobile technology, 5G networks are introduced due to broadband spectrum extension which requires higher power consumption. Discontinuous reception (DRX) sleep mode mechanism is provided to accommodate lower power consumption of user equipment terminals (UEs). For mmWave directional communication air interface in LTE between UE and LTE eNB, UE performs beam searching and alignment with LTE eNB (4G base station) after every short/long DRX cycle during ON duration. Dual connectivity of UE to both LTE eNB and NR NodeB (5G New RAN base station) is a hybrid-directional system. This allows us to propose a sleep mode mechanism which is called hybrid directional-DRX (HD-DRX). In HD-DRX, UE performs beam searching and alignment with NR NodeB during ON duration only if data packet intimation. A semi-Markov chain process is introduced to describe UE state transition. Depending on this chain, power saving factor and average delay are calculated. HD-DRX power saving as compared to LTE DRX and Directional-DRX (D-DRX) is conducted. Due to different beam searching procedure, another comparison of average delay is assigned between D-DRX and HD-DRX. Data traffic model parameters are considered and numerical analysis is validated using MATLAB program simulations. 相似文献
This paper investigates into the performance and load management of web servers that are deployed in commercial websites. Such websites offer various services such as flight/hotel booking, online banking, stock trading, and product purchases among others. Customers are increasingly relying on these round-the-clock services which are easier and (generally) cheaper to order. However, such an increasing number of customers’ requests makes a greater demand on the web servers. This leads to web servers’ overload and the consequential provisioning of inadequate level of service. This paper addresses these issues and proposes an admission control scheme which is based on the class-based priority scheme that classifies customer’s requests into different classes. The proposed scheme is formally specified using \(\Pi \)-calculus and is implemented as a Java-based prototype system. The prototype system is used to simulate the behaviour of commercial website servers and to evaluate their performance in terms of response time, throughput, arrival rate, and the percentage of dropped requests. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the performance of high priority requests but without causing adverse effects on low priority requests. 相似文献
