Continuously reducing transistor sizes and aggressive low power operating modes employed by modern architectures tend to increase transient error rates. Concurrently, multicore machines are dominating the architectural spectrum today in various application domains. These two trends require a fresh look at resiliency of multithreaded applications against transient errors from a software perspective. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a new metric called the Thread Vulnerability Factor (TVF). A distinguishing characteristic of TVF is that its calculation for a given thread (which is typically one of the threads of a multithreaded application) does not depend on its code alone, but also on the codes of the threads that share resources and data with that thread. As a result, we decompose TVF of a thread into two complementary parts: local and remote. While the former captures the TVF induced by the code of the target thread, the latter represents the vulnerability impact of the threads that interact with the target thread. We quantify the local and remote TVF values for three architectural components (register file, ALUs, and caches) using a set of ten multithreaded applications from the Parsec and Splash-2 benchmark suites. Our experimental evaluation shows that TVF values tend to increase as the number of cores increases, which means the system becomes more vulnerable as the core count rises. We further discuss how TVF metric can be employed to explore performance–reliability tradeoffs in multicores. Reliability-based analysis of compiler optimizations and redundancy-based fault tolerance are also mentioned as potential usages of our TVF metric. 相似文献

Four novel metal organic framework (MOF) structures containing acesulfame (ace) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands of Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ metal cations were synthesized. The crystal structure analysis of three compounds (1, 2, and 3) was also performed. The structural formula for complex 4 is proposed based on spectroscopic and thermal analysis data. It has been determined that structures 1, 2, and 4 are in a distorted octahedral geometry. It has been suggested that the charge balance of the coordination sphere with 2+ is provided by two monoanionic ace ligands located outside the coordination sphere as counter-ion. In structure 3, there are two CuII metal cations, two phen ligands coordinated as bidentate to each metal cation and ace ligand that provides monoanionic-monodentate coordination. The Cu2+ cation has distorted bipyramidal geometry. The maximum hydrogen gas adsorption has been found 1.4575 mL/g (0.046 wt%) for the Ni complex. 相似文献

In this paper, we report the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations on the incorporation of Ti transition metal element into β-SiAlON crystal structure in a bulk β-SiAlON–TiN composite material. Considering our energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and electron energy loss (EEL) spectroscopy results acquired by using nanometre-scale focused electron probe in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) mode, the Ti-K characteristic X-ray lines and Ti-L3,2 edges were detected in the chemical composition of the β-SiAlON grains. These results clearly reveal that Ti can enter into the β-SiAlON crystal structure. It is anticipated that this data will provide the new engineering insights on the production of transition metal element doped SiAlON-based materials for different applications. 相似文献

Objective: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of surface treatments on the shear bond strength of resin cements to zirconia. Material and methods: Sintered zirconia specimens (n = 192) were divided into four different surface treatment groups: control (no treatment); airborne-particle abrasion; glaze layer and hydrofluoric acid (HF) application, and hot etching solution application. Then, each group was divided into four subgroups (n = 12), and three different resin cements were applied to the zirconia surfaces. The shear bond strength value of each specimen was measured after 5000 thermo cycles. The failure types were examined with a stereomicroscope and the effects of the surface treatments were evaluated with a scanning electron microscope. Results were analyzed using analysis of variance and Tukey’s post hoc tests (α = 0.05). Results: The surface treatment and resin cement type significantly affected the bond strength results (p < 0.05). For all resin cements, the airborne-particle abrasion treatment increased the shear bond strength values (p < 0.05). The glaze layer & HF application increased shear bond strength values for all groups, except the Single Bond Universal-RelyX Unicem Aplicap group (p < 0.05). The surface roughness values of airborne-particle abraded specimens were similar to comparable values for specimens from the control group and the hot etching solution group (p > 0.05). The glaze layer & HF application group produced the highest surface roughness values (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study recommend using the appropriate combination of surface treatment and adhesive/silane coupling agent to achieve durable zirconia-resin bonding. 相似文献

Cobalt-doped willemite is a promising blue ceramic pigment, but some important aspects concerning crystal structure, optical properties and technological behaviour are still undisclosed. In order to get new insight on these features, willemite pigments (Zn2?xCoxSiO4, 0 < x < 0.3) were synthesized by the ceramic route and characterized from the structural (XRPD with Rietveld refinement), optical (DRS and colorimetry), microstructural (SEM, STEM, TEM, EDX, EELS) and technological (simulation of the ceramic process) viewpoints. The incorporation of cobalt in the willemite lattice, taking preferentially place in the Zn1 tetrahedral site, induces an increase of unit-cell parameters, metal–oxygen distances, and inter-tetrahedral tilting. It causes shifting and enhanced splitting of spin-allowed bands of Co2+ in tetrahedral coordination, implying slight changes of crystal field strength Dq and Racah B parameter, but increasing spin-orbit coupling parameter λ. Willemite pigments impart deep blue hue to ceramic glazes and glassy coatings with a colouring performance better than commercial Co-bearing colorants in the 800–1200 °C range. Detailed SEM-TEM investigation and microanalysis proved that no diffusion phenomena occur at the pigment–glassy coating interface and that willemite pigments are chemically inert during firing at 1050 °C. 相似文献

Black iron-chromium (Fe-Cr) bearing oxide pigments are generally utilised as effective colourants in a wide variety of applications. However, in the case of their use within ZnO-containing glazes, they yield an undesirable brown colour instead of expected black colour. In order to understand the colour change in this system, we report the use of focused ion beam (FIB) sample preparation technique followed by the use of analytical transmission electron microscopy (TEM) characterisation techniques. According to the results, the formation of a reaction layer between the pigment and glaze was identified with an average composition of Zn0.48Fe0.79Cr1.32O4. Additionally, the valance of Fe was determined as 3+ in the pigment grain, whereas 2+ in the reaction layer and the glaze, respectively. Therefore, it was concluded that the colour change is occurring as result of the valence variation of Fe, the formation of Zn0.48Fe0.79Cr1.32O4 compound and the outward diffusion of Fe into the glaze. 相似文献

With the availability of more different robot types and models along with their separate specifications, selecting the most appropriate robot is becoming more difficult and complicated for companies. Furthermore, a common set of robot selection criteria is not available for the decision makers. In this study, a two-phase robot selection decision support system, namely ROBSEL, is developed to help the decision makers in their robot selection decisions. In development of ROBSEL, an independent set of criteria is obtained first and arranged in the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) decision hierarchy. In the first elimination phase of the decision support system, the user obtains the feasible set of robots by providing limited values for the 15 requirements. ROBSEL, then, uses FAHP decision hierarchy to rank the feasible robots in the second phase. ROBSEL is illustrated and tested and several critical issues in its practical usage are explored in the paper. The applications of ROBSEL show that ROBSEL is a useful, practical and easy to use robot selection tool and improves robot selection decisions in the companies. 相似文献

Between 10 and 11 years after children were vaccinated with Vi capsular polysaccharide of Salmonella typhi or meningococcal A + C control vaccine in a double blind randomized trial, we traced 83 subjects, aged 16-20 years. A blood sample was taken for determination of Vi antibody titres in both groups by radioimmunoassay. TO and TH titres were also done to assess if the participants had had recent exposure to typhoid fever. Fifty-eight percent of subjects in both groups had protective levels of Vi antibody against Salmonella typhi (a titre greater than 1 microgram ml-1). There was no significant difference in the levels of Vi antibodies in the cases versus the controls (p = 0.5). Two of the children who had received meningococcal A + C vaccine had recently had typhoid fever. Our data show that adolescents in typhoid endemic areas have high levels of Vi antibodies regardless of previous vaccination status, suggesting that Vi antibodies are acquired in adolescence by a large percentage of the population in this area. Moreover, Vi vaccination has led to ongoing antibody production in greater than 50% of Vi vaccinated children in an endemic area for a period of 10 years. Ongoing antigenic exposure may have contributed to these antibody levels. 相似文献
