Evaluation of kinetic distribution and behaviors of nanoparticles in vivo provides crucial clues into their roles in living organisms. Extracellular vesicles are evolutionary conserved nanoparticles, known to play important biological functions in intercellular, inter‐species, and inter‐kingdom communication. In this study, the first kinetic analysis of the biodistribution of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs)—bacterial extracellular vesicles—with immune‐modulatory functions is performed. OMVs, injected intraperitoneally, spread to the whole mouse body and accumulate in the liver, lung, spleen, and kidney within 3 h of administration. As an early systemic inflammation response, increased levels of TNF‐α and IL‐6 are observed in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. In addition, the number of leukocytes and platelets in the blood is decreased. OMVs and cytokine concentrations, as well as body temperature are gradually decreased 6 h after OMV injection, in concomitance with the formation of eye exudates, and of an increase in ICAM‐1 levels in the lung. Following OMV elimination, most of the inflammatory signs are reverted, 12 h post‐injection. However, leukocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid are increased as a late reaction. Taken together, these results suggest that OMVs are effective mediators of long distance communication in vivo.  相似文献

A new approach to evaluate activation energy for nucleation in metal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is presented. Deposition is performed by laser induced chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) using a low laser power and a high scan speed, so that only discrete particles in the initial nucleation stage are formed. The nucleation activation energy is then obtained from a relationship between the laser-induced surface temperature distribution and the particle distribution. The activation energy is directly related to the nucleation barrier, and hence the difference in the nucleation activation energies on different substrates may be used to explain the chemical selectivity which is often observed during metal CVD processes. This approach is experimentally applied to aluminum CVD using dimethylethylamine alane (DMEAA) precursor, and its nucleation activation energy is found to be 25kcal/mol on silicon surface.  相似文献

The paper presents a robust control law for homing of an autonomous robot. The proposed work aims to solve this problem for practical conditions such as random errors in commanded velocities and unknown distance sensor characteristics. The proposed steering control aligns the robot’s orientation with homing vector using arbitrary real valued distance function providing the capability to work in changing environment conditions. Finite time convergence to the equilibrium using proposed control law is achieved in the presence of bounded random velocity errors regardless of the initial position and orientation. Just the sign information as feedback supports applicability of proposed control law with any distance function. A matching parameter between panoramic images obtained at home and current positions is a function of distance between home and current positions. However, explicit relation between distance and image matching parameter is unknown. This work demonstrates the application of proposed method for visual homing based on image distance function rendering the benefit of minimal image processing. Various simulation and experimental results are presented for visual homing to support the theory presented in this paper. Advantage of proposed visual homing is also explored in changing environment conditions.  相似文献

This study determined the efficacy of silver‐zeolite impregnated into wrapping paper to reduce the bacterial growth on raw beef, pork and turkey cuts. This was compared with that of regular butcher paper. The samples were inoculated with Pseudomonas putida (psychrotrophic spoilage bacterium) and stored on 4% silver‐zeolite and regular butcher paper for up to 4 days at 4 °C and 10 °C. Results showed that P. putida on the beef, pork and turkey samples did not increase in numbers after exposure to all paper packaging at 4 °C during the 4 days of storage. At 10 °C storage temperature, logarithmic growth patterns for the organisms were seen on all paper packaging. However, the growth rate was slower for the organisms on the silver‐zeolite paper. Storage on the silver‐zeolite paper accounted for one log cfu/sample mean reduction in viable cell count for the beef, pork and turkey samples when compared with the samples stored on the butcher paper at 3 days.  相似文献

Recent reports on cocoa are appealing in that a food commonly consumed for pure pleasure might also bring tangible benefits for human health. Cocoa consumption is correlated with reduced health risks of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and cancer, and the health-promoting effects of cocoa are mediated by cocoa-driven phytochemicals. Cocoa is rich in procyanidins, theobromine, (?)-epicatechin, catechins, and caffeine. Among the phytochemicals present in consumed cocoa, theobromine is most available in human plasma, followed by caffeine, (?)-epicatechin, catechin, and procyanidins. It has been reported that cocoa phytochemicals specifically modulate or interact with specific molecular targets linked to the pathogenesis of chronic human diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, obesity, diabetes, and skin aging. This review summarizes comprehensive recent findings on the beneficial actions of cocoa-driven phytochemicals in molecular mechanisms of human health.  相似文献

An extracorporeal bioartificial liver (BAL) device containing viable hepatocytes has the potential to provide temporary hepatic support to liver failure patients, serving as a bridge to transplantation while awaiting a suitable donor. In some patients, providing temporary hepatic support may be sufficient to allow adequate regeneration of the host liver, thereby eliminating the need for a liver transplant. Although the BAL device is a promising technology for the treatment of liver failure, there are several technical challenges that must be overcome in order to develop systems with sufficient processing capacity and of manageable size. In this study, the authors describe the critical issues involved in developing a BAL device. They also discuss their experiences in hepatocyte culture optimization within the context of a microchannel flat-plate BAL device.  相似文献

This paper presents digital signal processor (DSP) instructions and their data processing unit (DPU) architecture for high‐speed fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The proposed instructions jointly perform new operation flows that are more efficient than the operation flow of the multiply and accumulate (MAC) instruction on which existing DSP chips heavily depend. We further propose a DPU architecture that fully supports the instructions and show that the architecture is two times faster than existing DSP chips for FFTs. We simulated the proposed model with a Verilog HDL, performed a logic synthesis using the 0.35 µm standard cell library, and then verified the functions thoroughly.  相似文献

Cross layer handover schemes are expected to provide seamless services to users on the move. To achieve this goal, a link layer must timely trigger handover protocols of upper layers so that they can finish necessary handover procedures before current wireless link terminates. Therefore, a mobile node needs an appropriate model to predict impending handover to generate link layer triggers in time. In this paper, we propose a mobility model that does not assume any radio propagation environments and movement patterns of a mobile node. Through statistical analysis of the received signal strength index (RSSI) datasets measured in various radio propagation environments, we validate that an adaptive autoregressive process can be used as a handover prediction model. With the proposed model, we also propose a link layer triggering scheme. Since the prediction process inevitably introduces errors, we devise a statistical compensation method to initiate link layer triggers in a timely manner considering the given handover signaling delay bound. Simulation results show that the error compensation method can significantly decrease the rate of late link layer triggers with the reasonable increase in the false alarm rate.  相似文献
