We present a series of test metrics, artifacts, and procedures for characterizing and verifying the operating limits of a short-range non-contact three-dimensional imaging system. These metrics have been designed to correspond to dimensioning and tolerancing metrics that are widely used in industry (e.g. automotive, aerospace, etc.). We introduce operating limit metrics that correspond with the geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) metrics of Form (Flatness and Circularity), Orientation (Angularity), Location (Sphere, Corner, and Hole Position Errors), and Size (Diameter, Sphere-spacing, Plane-spacing and Angle Errors). An example is presented to illustrate how these metrics, artifacts, and associated test procedures can be used in practice.  相似文献

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has developed and patented three high‐resolution 3D imaging systems and processing algorithms which have been applied to a wide range of museum and heritage recording applications. The systems have been designed for different imaging applications and, in collaboration with a number of national and international museums and cultural agencies, have been used to scan a wide variety of objects and sites. The objective of this paper is to present a summary of the 3D technology and examples of its heritage applications. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Size and scale issues present a complexity problem in visualizing detailed 3D models built from sensor data. A model of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, with its thin pictorial layer, illustrates the need for intuitive real-time processing tools that are seamlessly integrated with a multiresolution visualization environment.  相似文献

Because of their complex genesis, rocks and geomaterials are commonly polycrystalline heterogeneous systems, with various scale-level chemical and structural heterogeneities. Like most other μ-analytical techniques relying on scanning instruments with pencil-beam, the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) technique allows elemental oxidation states to be probed with high spatial resolution but suffers from long acquisition times, imposing practical limits on the field of view. Now, regions of interest of sample are generally several orders of magnitude larger than the beam size. Here, we show the potential of coupling XANES and full-field absorption radiographies with a large hard X-ray beam. Thanks to a new setup, which allows both the acquisition of a XANES image stack and the execution of polarization contrast imaging, 1 to 4 mega-pixel crystallographic orientations and Fe oxidation state mapping corrected from polarization effects are obtained in a couple of hours on polycrystalline materials with submicrometric resolution. The demonstration is first carried out on complex metamorphic rocks, where Fe(3+)/Fe(total) images reveal subtle redox variations within single mineralogical phases. A second application concerns a bentonite analogue considered for nuclear waste and CO(2) storage. Proportion mappings of finely mixed phases are extracted from hyperspectral data, imaging the spatial progress of reaction processes essential for the safety of such storage systems.  相似文献

The design and fabrication of a position-sensing photodetector that is sensitive to a wavelength of 1.55 μm are reported. This device is based on the photo-lateral effect and uses an In0.53Ga0.47As absorbing layer that is lattice matched to an InP substrate. The output signal (I1- I2)/(I1+I2) varies linearly with respect to the position of the incident beam. The responsivity of 0.75 A/W is uniform over the length of the photodetector. The device is intended for video rate applications and has a -3-dB cutoff frequency of 7 MHz  相似文献

In a previous study, milk iodine concentration from 501 farms across Canada was found to vary considerably and appeared to be influenced by feeding practices. Farms with contrasting levels of milk iodine from a subset of 200 participating farms were used to determine the relationship between milk iodine concentration and the concentration of this mineral in different feeds and complete diets given to lactating dairy cows. The 30 farms with the lowest levels of iodine in milk (low group) and the 30 farms with the highest levels (high group) were selected. Samples of bulk tank milk, all feed ingredients, and water were collected. Additionally, each farmer completed a questionnaire providing information on feeding management. The iodine offered on each of the farms was estimated from the amount of the feed in the diet recommended by the Ration’L software (Valacta, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC, Canada) and the iodine concentration in the feed sampled and analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The dietary concentration of iodine offered daily was 33% lower for the low group compared with the high group; that is, 1.20 ± 0.099 versus 1.81 ± 0.195 mg/kg of dry matter (DM), respectively. Milk iodine concentrations averaged 146 ± 13.9 μg/kg for the low group and 487 ± 44.6 μg/kg for the high group. A linear relationship was found between dietary iodine concentration and milk iodine level, as follows: milk iodine (μg/kg) = 145 (±66.9) + 113 (±39.4) dietary iodine concentration (mg/kg DM). However, the low R2 value (0.15) indicates that other factors, such as milking management and the presence of goitrogens, may have affected the concentrations of iodine in milk. Forages supplied approximately 17% of iodine requirements in the average lactating cow diet. Therefore, variations in the iodine content of forages are unlikely to cause iodine overfeeding. In contrast, 27% of the mineral mix samples presented iodine concentrations >100,000 μg/kg of DM (and up to 322,000 μg/kg of DM). More than 85% of the farms tested were feeding iodine levels higher than the dietary iodine recommendations (0.5 mg of iodine/kg of DM). Iodine supplements should be used with caution in lactating cow diets.  相似文献

Three-dimensional digital modeling of Heritage works of art through optical scanners, has been demonstrated in recent years with results of exceptional interest. However, the routine application of three-dimensional (3-D) modeling to Heritage conservation still requires the systematic investigation of a number of technical problems. In this paper, the acquisition process of the 3-D digital model of the Maddalena by Donatello, a wooden statue representing one of the major masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance which was swept away by the Florence flood of 1966 and successively restored, is described. The paper reports all the steps of the acquisition procedure, from the project planning to the solution of the various problems due to range camera calibration and to material non optically cooperative. Since the scientific focus is centered on the 3-D model overall dimensional accuracy, a methodology for its quality control is described. Such control has demonstrated how, in some situations, the ICP-based alignment can lead to incorrect results. To circumvent this difficulty we propose an alignment technique based on the fusion of ICP with close-range digital photogrammetry and a non-invasive procedure in order to generate a final accurate model. In the end detailed results are presented, demonstrating the improvement of the final model, and how the proposed sensor fusion ensure a pre-specified level of accuracy.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel multi-modal three-dimensional (3D) laser scanning system that combines high-accuracy 3D laser imaging, very high-resolution perspective color projection, and on-site geometric calibration of the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. Motion compensation directly from the range measurements using ICP and a 6-DOF self-built model tracking is also used to eliminate the need for stable mechanical structures and external positioning sensors. We show that scanner performances, modeling, and visualization are intimately linked and must be considered as an integral part of the modeling chain. This is particularly important in the field of heritage where the acquisition must adapt to the environment. Equations and charts are presented to compute the optimum color camera and laser scanner configuration for a given 3D modeling application in terms of camera settings such as optimum lens aperture, focal length, optimum range, and total range depth. These equations are general and can be used for most 3D acquisition systems including time-of-flight laser scanners. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the validity of the approach.  相似文献

A total of 154 food composite samples from the 2008 total diet study in Quebec City were analysed for bisphenol A (BPA), and BPA was detected in less than half (36%, or 55 samples) of the samples tested. High concentrations of BPA were found mostly in the composite samples containing canned foods, with the highest BPA level being observed in canned fish (106 ng g(-1)), followed by canned corn (83.7 ng g(-1)), canned soups (22.2-44.4 ng g(-1)), canned baked beans (23.5 ng g(-1)), canned peas (16.8 ng g(-1)), canned evaporated milk (15.3 ng g(-1)), and canned luncheon meats (10.5 ng g(-1)). BPA levels in baby food composite samples were low, with 2.75 ng g(-1) in canned liquid infant formula, and 0.84-2.46 ng g(-1) in jarred baby foods. BPA was also detected in some foods that are not canned or in jars, such as yeast (8.52 ng g(-1)), baking powder (0.64 ng g(-1)), some cheeses (0.68-2.24 ng g(-1)), breads and some cereals (0.40-1.73 ng g(-1)), and fast foods (1.1-10.9 ng g(-1)). Dietary intakes of BPA were low for all age-sex groups, with 0.17-0.33 μg kg(-1) body weight day(-1) for infants, 0.082-0.23 μg kg(-1) body weight day(-1) for children aged from 1 to 19 years, and 0.052-0.081 μg kg(-1) body weight day(-1) for adults, well below the established regulatory limits. BPA intakes from 19 of the 55 samples account for more than 95% of the total dietary intakes, and most of the 19 samples were either canned or in jars. Intakes of BPA from non-canned foods are low.  相似文献

Many cultural heritage applications require 3D reconstruction of real-world objects and scenes. Over the past few years, it has become increasingly common to use 3D digitization and modeling for this purpose. This is mainly due to advances in laser-scanning techniques, 3D modeling software, image-based modeling techniques, computer power, and virtual reality. Our approach integrates several technologies based on our experience over more than a decade of trying to accurately and completely model large-scale heritage monuments and sites. Using both interactive and automatic techniques, we can model a highly detailed structure or site at various levels of detail. We use image-based modeling for basic shape and structural elements, and laser scanning for fine details and sculpted surfaces. To present the site in its proper context, we use image-based rendering for landscapes and surroundings. To apply this approach, we created hundreds of models from sites all over the world for documentation, walk-through movies, and interactive visualization. The results were compelling and encouraging.  相似文献
