Bioelectrical Impedance (BIA) derived phase angle is increasingly being used as an objective indicator of nutritional status in advanced cancer. Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) is a subjective method of nutritional status. For millennia, countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region have developed laws, regulations and other rules to govern their scarce water. These laws have been updated in recent years. This review of the legal frameworks (including regulations, decrees and other rules) reveals both progress and gaps in managing water quality, water quantity and procedural aspects. Of note, while the general frameworks are usually in place, in many instances the necessary details are lacking to give effect to the goals. However, in some instances the legal frameworks governing water lack certain key principles or approaches. In order to effectively meet the growing demands on their water resources, MENA countries will need to further strengthen and develop their legal frameworks.  相似文献

Various definitions exist for what constitutes family therapy. In this article, we consider family therapy to encompass any intervention that targets family interactions and conceptualizes problems as existing beyond individual clients. Numerous individual studies and several quantitative reviews have established family therapy as an effective treatment modality and the treatment of choice for many disorders. However, critiques of existing service provision highlight the unfortunate fact that numerous barriers to treatment exist at multiple levels of the broader ecology, preventing many families from benefiting from these services. The cohesive, mode I (tensile cleavage) fracture energy (or fracture toughness), G Ic, of bulk tapered double cantilevered beam (TDCB) samples of a series of three epoxy thermoset networks was determined using a linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) analysis. Networks of different crosslink density were obtained by mixing various amounts of an aromatic epoxy novolac and an aliphatic epoxy and crosslinking with an imidazole catalyst. Brittle, stick-slip fracture was observed for all formulations, with G Ic increasing as the amount of aliphatic epoxy increased. However, fracture surface morphologies exhibited evidence of increasing plastic deformation as G Ic increased. In the investigation of structure-property relationships for this series of thermoset networks, G Ic was found to be inversely related to both network crosslink density and glass transition temperature (T g). It was also found that the room temperature frequency of the glassy state transition (-transition) increased as fracture toughness increased.  相似文献

All human cells use O-GlcNAc protein modifications (O-linked N-acetylglucosamine) to rapidly adapt to changing nutrient and stress conditions through signaling, epigenetic, and proteostasis mechanisms. A key challenge for biologists in defining precise roles for specific O-GlcNAc sites is synthetic access to homogenous isoforms of O-GlcNAc proteins, a result of the non-genetically templated, transient, and heterogeneous nature of O-GlcNAc modifications. Toward a solution, this review details the state of the art of two strategies for O-GlcNAc protein modification: advances in “bottom-up” O-GlcNAc peptide synthesis and direct “top-down” installation of O-GlcNAc on full proteins. We also describe key applications of synthetic O-GlcNAc peptide and protein tools as therapeutics, biophysical structure–function studies, biomarkers, and as disease mechanistic probes to advance translational O-GlcNAc biology.  相似文献

An electrodiffusional three-segment probe was developed with which local axial and radial liquid velocities can be determined. Application of this probe in gas-liquid flow yields information on local gas hold-up. In coalescing media the commonly used redox-system Fe(CN) 6 3− /Fe(CN) 6 4 should be replaced by dissolved oxygen as depolarizer. Measurements of local axial and radial liquid velocity and turbulence intensity in different bubble columns (D = 150 and 600 mm) showed good agreement with data obtained by hotfilm anemometry.
