Ni-rich layered LiNixCoyMn1−xyO2 (LNCM) with Ni content over >90% is considered as a promising lithium ion battery (LIB) cathode, attributed by its low cost and high practical capacity. However, Ni-rich LNCM inevitably suffers rapid capacity fading at a high state of charge due to the mechanochemical breakdown; in particular, the microcrack formation has been regarded as one of the main culprits for Ni-rich layered cathode failure. To address these issues, Ni-rich layered cathodes with a textured microstructure are developed by phosphorous and boron doping. Attributed by the textured morphology, both phosphorous- and boron-doped cathodes suppress microcrack formation and show enhanced cycle stability compared to the undoped cathode. However, there exists a meaningful capacity retention difference between the doped cathodes. By adapting the various analysis techniques, it is shown that the boron-doped Ni-rich layered cathode displays better cycle stability not only by its ability to suppress microcracks during cycling but also by its primary particle morphology that is reluctant to oxygen evolution. The present work reveals that not only restraint of particle cracks but also suppression of oxygen release by developing the oxygen stable facets is important for further improvements in state-of-the-art Li ion battery Ni-rich layered cathode materials.  相似文献

Low‐temperature anionic ring‐opening homopolymerizations and copolymerizations of two glycidol derivatives (allyl glycidyl ether (AGE) and ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE)) are studied using a metal‐free catalyst system, 3‐phenyl‐1‐propanol (PPA) (an initiator) and 1‐tert‐butyl‐4,4,4‐tris(dimethylamino)‐2,2‐bis[tris‐(dimethylamino)phosphoranylidenamino]‐2Λ5,4Λ5‐catenadi(phosphazene) (t‐Bu‐P4) (a promoter) in order to obtain well‐defined functional linear polyethers and diblock copolymers. With the aid of the catalyst system, AGE is found to successfully undergo anionic ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) even at room temperature (low reaction temperature) without any side reactions, producing well‐defined linear AGE‐homopolymer in a unimodal narrow molecular weight distribution. Under the same conditions, EEGE also undergoes polymerization, producing a linear EEGE‐homopolymer in a unimodal narrow molecular‐weight distribution. In this case, however, a side reaction (i.e., chain‐transfer reaction) is found to occur at low levels during the early stages of polymerization. The chemical properties of the monomers in the context of the homopolymerization reactions are considered in the design of a protocol used to synthesize well‐defined linear diblock copolyethers with a variety of compositions. The approach, anionic polymerization via the sequential step feed of AGE and EEGE as the first and second monomers, is found to be free from side reactions at room temperature. Each block of the obtained linear diblock copolymers undergoes selective deprotection to permit further chemical modification for selective functionalization. In addition, thermal properties and structures of the polymers and their post‐modification products are examined. Overall, this study demonstrates that a low‐temperature metal‐free anionic ROP using the PPA/t‐Bu‐P4 catalyst system is suitable for the production of well‐defined linear AGE‐homopolymers and their diblock copolymers with the EEGE monomer, which are versatile and selectively functionalizable linear aliphatic polyether platforms for a variety of post‐modifications, nanostructures, and their applications.  相似文献

Materials research is being conducted using an electromagnetic levitator installed in the International Space Station. Various metallic alloys were tested to elucidate unknown links among the structures, processes, and properties. To accomplish the mission of these space experiments, several ground-based activities have been carried out. This article presents some of our ground-based supporting experiments and numerical modeling efforts. Mass evaporation of Fe50Co50, one of flight compositions, was predicted numerically and validated by the tests using an electrostatic levitator (ESL). The density of various compositions within the Fe-Co system was measured with ESL. These results are being served as reference data for the space experiments. The convection inside a electromagnetically-levitated droplet was also modeled to predict the flow status, shear rate, and convection velocity under various process parameters, which is essential information for designing and analyzing the space experiments of some flight compositions influenced by convection.  相似文献

Cable-driven parallel robots (CDPRs) have many advantages over conventional link-based robot manipulators in terms of acceleration due to their low inertia. This paper concerns about under-constrained CDPRs, which have a less number of cables than six, often used favorably due to their simpler structures. Since a smaller number of cables than 6 are employed, however, their payloads have extra degrees of motion freedom and exhibit swaying motions or oscillation. In this paper, a scheme to suppress unwanted oscillatory motions of the payload of a 4-cable-driven CDPR based on a Zero-vibration (ZV) input-shaping scheme is proposed. In this method, a motion in the 3-dimensional space is projected onto the independent motions on two vertical planes perpendicular to each other. On each of the vertical plane, the natural frequency of the CDPR is computed based on a 2-cable-driven planar CDPR model. The precise dynamic model of a planar CDPR is obtained in order to find the natural frequency, which depends on the payload position. The advantage of the proposed scheme is that it is possible to generate an oscillation-free trajectory based on a ZV input-shaping scheme despite the complexity in the dynamics of the CDPR and the difficulty in computing the natural frequencies of the CDPR, which is required in any ZV input-shaping scheme. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a series of computer simulations and experiments were conducted for 3- dimensional motions with a 4-cable-driven CDPR. Their results showed that the motions of the CDPR with the proposed method exhibited a significant reduction in oscillations of the payload. However, when the payload moves near the edges of its workspace, the improvement in oscillation reduction diminished as expected due to the errors in model projection.

Wireless systems equipped with distributed antennas can provide enhanced data throughput as well as improved signal quality when appropriate cooperative transmission schemes among antennas are employed. In this paper, the performance of distributed antenna systems (DAS) under the influence of Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing effects is investigated for different cooperation strategies, and corresponding statistical distributions for both the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and the capacity are presented. Specifically, the ergodic capacity per remote antenna (RA) is determined when n RAs cooperatively transmit the desired signal to the target receiver, which is compared with the non-cooperative single-antenna transmission (SAT) case. Using the results, a preferable mode of operation for given geographic locations of the receiver is determined. We further propose to perform an adaptive operation between the cooperative and non-cooperative modes under the capacity maximization criteria, and quantify exact amounts of capacity gain over individual transmission modes.  相似文献

It is a truism that today’s simulations of mobile wireless networks are not realistic. In realistic simulations of urban networks, the mobility of vehicles and pedestrians is greatly influenced by the environment (e.g., the location of buildings) as well as by interaction with other nodes. For example, on a congested street or sidewalk, nodes cannot travel at their desired speed. Furthermore, the location of streets, sidewalks, hallways, etc. restricts the position of nodes, and traffic lights impact the flow of nodes. And finally, people do not wander the simulated region at random, rather, their mobility depends on whether the person is at work, at lunch, etc. In this paper, realistic simulation of mobility for urban wireless networks is addressed. In contrast to most other mobility modeling efforts, most of the aspects of the presented mobility model and model parameters are derived from surveys from urban planning and traffic engineering research. The mobility model discussed here is part of the UDel Models, a suite of tools for realistic simulation of urban wireless networks. The UDel Models simulation tools are available online.  相似文献

The hyperthermophilic archaeon Thermococcus onnurineus NA1 has been shown to produce H2 when using CO, formate, or starch as a growth substrate. This strain can also utilize elemental sulfur as a terminal electron acceptor for heterotrophic growth. To gain insight into sulfur metabolism, the proteome of T. onnurineus NA1 cells grown under sulfur culture conditions was quantified and compared with those grown under H2-evolving substrate culture conditions. Using label-free nano-UPLC-MSE-based comparative proteomic analysis, approximately 38.4% of the total identified proteome (589 proteins) was found to be significantly up-regulated (≥1.5-fold) under sulfur culture conditions. Many of these proteins were functionally associated with carbon fixation, Fe–S cluster biogenesis, ATP synthesis, sulfur reduction, protein glycosylation, protein translocation, and formate oxidation. Based on the abundances of the identified proteins in this and other genomic studies, the pathways associated with reductive sulfur metabolism, H2-metabolism, and oxidative stress defense were proposed. The results also revealed markedly lower expression levels of enzymes involved in the sulfur assimilation pathway, as well as cysteine desulfurase, under sulfur culture condition. The present results provide the first global atlas of proteome changes triggered by sulfur, and may facilitate an understanding of how hyperthermophilic archaea adapt to sulfur-rich, extreme environments.  相似文献

We present a microfabricated 10 by 10 array of microneedles for the treatment of a neurological disease called communicating hydrocephalus. Together with the previously reported microvalve array, the current implantable microneedle array completes the microfabricated arachnoid granulations (MAGs) that mimic the function of normal arachnoid granulations. The microneedle array was designed to enable the fixation of the MAGs through dura mater membrane in the brain and thus provide a conduit for the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Cone-shaped microneedles with hollow channels were fabricated using a series of microfabrication techniques: SU-8 photolithography for tapered geometry, reactive ion etching for sharpening the microneedles, 248 nm deep UV excimer laser machining for creating through-hole inside the microneedles, and metal sputtering for improved rigidity. Puncture tests were conducted using porcine dura mater and the results showed that the fabricated microneedle array is strong enough to pierce the dura mater. The in vitro biocompatibility test result showed that none of the 100 outlets of the microneedles exposed to the bloodstream were clogged significantly by blood cells. We believe that these test results demonstrate the potential use of the microneedle array as a new treatment of hydrocephalus.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel actuation method for a smooth impact drive mechanism that positions dual-slider by a single piezo-element is introduced and applied to a compact zoom lens system. A mode chart that determines the state of the slider at the expansion or shrinkage periods of the piezo-element is presented, and the design guide of a driving input profile is proposed. The motion of dual-slider holding lenses is analyzed at each mode, and proper modes for zoom functions are selected for the purpose of positioning two lenses. Because the proposed actuation method allows independent movement of two lenses by a single piezo-element, the zoom lens system can be designed to be compact. For a feasibility test, a lens system composed of an afocal zoom system and a focusing lens was developed, and the passive auto-focus method was implemented.  相似文献
