Stainless steel fibres in ABS plastic form a composite with an anisotropic resistivity. Samples are rectangular shapes with uniform thickness. By assuming two principal resistivities and by using van der Pauw's technique, we find 2 = x y . For rectangular samples, field theory determines y / x and hence fibre direction. Results for three sample geometries agree with the theoretical predictions of the fibre patterns and with X-ray data. Samples formed by a centre-sprue feed are the best for fabricating large, uniform samples, while samples with a large length-to-width ratio have the most uniform metal density and fibre orientation. Resistivity was also measured by the more-common two-probe technique. Results correlate well to van der Pauw data, with 95% confidence.  相似文献

Existing transformational leadership research has focused primarily on the behaviors of leaders and their effects on followers. The authors extended this research by examining the social networks of managers who exhibit transformational leadership behaviors. Their focus was on the network of relationships that managers develop and whether they hold key positions in the organization's informal social networks. In a field study using data from 39 managers and 130 nonmanagement employees of 6 organizations, the authors found that managers who score higher on transformational leadership tend to hold more central positions in organizational advice and influence networks. Furthermore, the direct reports of these leaders were also more central in informal organizational networks. These results illuminate one of the ways that managers who exhibit transformational leadership behaviors may exert influence in organizations. Dichlorvos applied weekly at the rate of 14.0 μg/l gave good control of Ephestia kuehniella in a flour mill. Other insects were also controlled. The insecticide was dispensed automatically by electrically operated sprayers when the mill was unoccupied. Exposure of test insects and chemical determinations of atmospheric concentrations showed that good distribution of vapour was obtained. Concentrations of dichlorvos were at a safe level for working well before the mill reopened after 8 hr. Contamination of flour was negligible. The method involves no disruption of routine working and there is no vapour hazard to workers.  相似文献

We have characterized two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) in Si/SiGe modulation doped structures grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy. Hall bar structures were fabricated to characterize the structures and magnetotransport measurements were carried out at temperatures down to 0.4 K. Pronounced Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations were observed in the longitudinal magnetoresistance, indicative of high quality 2DEG in the channel. Electron mobilities up to 87,000 cm2 V−1 s−1 with sheet densities about 7 × 1011 cm−2 were obtained at low temperature. Dingle plots of the magnetoresistance vs reciprocal magnetic field were utilized to determine the single-particle relaxation times in order to investigate scattering mechanisms in these structure. The ratio of the transport scattering time derived from electron mobility to the single-particle relaxation time is of the order of 10, indicating that remote impurity scattering is a dominant factor limiting the mobility of our structures. The behaviour of the magnetotransport data is discussed using a model for parallel conduction.  相似文献

The ability to grow high quality (InGa)As on the (111)A surface is essential for the production of a wide range of optoelectronic devices, but the topic has so far received little attention. What work there has been shows it to be highly problematic, reflected in the very broad photoluminescence (PL) peaks observed for GaAs:(InGa)As multiple quantum well structures. The origin of this broadening is unclear but is certainly related to the difficulty in choosing appropriate conditions for the growth of III-Vs on the (111)A surface. We have undertaken a study of the growth of (InGa)As on the GaAs(111)A, (211)A and (311)A surfaces with the goal of achieving high quality quantum well structures, the test being the ability to obtain narrow PL line widths. We have demonstrated that 80 Å 15% InGaAs(111)A single quantum wells with 12K PL peak widths of less than 8 meV can be obtained by growth at 400°C under a V:III ratio of 5:1.  相似文献

Wax esters of secondary alcohols constitute 18–20% of the cuticular lipid extract ofMelanoplus packardii and 26–31% of the cuticular lipids ofMelanoplus sanguinipes. The total number of carbons in the wax esters range from 37–54 with 41 predominating in both species. The fatty acids ofM. packardii wax esters are 16∶0, 18∶0, 14∶0, 20∶0 and 12∶0 in decreasing quantity. The fatty acids ofM. sanguinipes wax esters are 18∶0, 20∶0, 16∶0 22∶0, 14∶0, 19∶0 and 17∶0 in decreasing quantity. The secondary alcohols from the wax esters ofM. packardii are C25, C23 and C27 in decreasing quantity, and the secondary alcohols of theM. sanguinipes are C23, C25, C21, C27, C24, C22 and C26 in decreasing quantity. Objective: To develop and evaluate a new pediatric measure of community integration: the Pediatric Community Participation Questionnaire (PCPQ). Participants: 105 youths with physical disabilities. Measures: In addition to the PCPQ, demographic and disability-related questions and the Functional Disability Inventory (FDI) were administered. Results: The PCPQ demonstrated convergent validity through its high association with functional ability, discriminant validity through its ability to discriminate between ambulatory and nonambulatory participants, and excellent internal consistency. Conclusions: Community participation, an important component of positive overall development, may be particularly important for youths with physical disabilities. The findings from this study provide preliminary support for the validity and reliability of the PCPQ, supporting its use as a measure of community participation with this population. We have investigated 4‐halopyridines as selective, tunable, and switchable covalent protein modifiers for use in the development of chemical probes. Nonenzymatic reactivity of 4‐chloropyridine with amino acids and thiols was ranked with respect to common covalent protein‐modifying reagents and found to have reactivity similar to that of acrylamide, but could be switched to a reactivity similar to that of iodoacetamide upon stabilization of the positively charged pyridinium. Diverse, fragment‐sized 4‐halopyridines inactivated human dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase‐1 (DDAH1) through covalent modification of the active site cysteine, acting as quiescent affinity labels that required off‐pathway catalysis through stabilization of the protonated pyridinium by a neighboring aspartate residue. A series of 2‐fluoromethyl‐substituted 4‐chloropyridines demonstrated that the pKa and kinact/KI values could be predictably varied over several orders of magnitude. Covalent labeling of proteins in an Escherichia coli lysate was shown to require folded proteins, indicating that alternative proteins can be targeted, and modification is likely to be catalysisdependent. 4‐Halopyridines, and quiescent affinity labels in general, represent an attractive strategy to develop reagents with switchable electrophilicity as selective covalent protein modifiers.  相似文献

This study evaluated the chemical compositions of the leaves and fruits of eight black pepper cultivars cultivated in Pará State (Amazon, Brazil). Hydrodistillation and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry were employed to extract and analyze the volatile compounds, respectively. Sesquiterpene hydrocarbons were predominant (58.5–90.9%) in the cultivars “Cingapura”, “Equador”, “Guajarina”, “Iaçará”, and “Kottanadan”, and “Bragantina”, “Clonada”, and “Uthirankota” displayed oxygenated sesquiterpenoids (50.6–75.0%). The multivariate statistical analysis applied using volatile composition grouped the samples into four groups: γ-Elemene, curzerene, and δ-elemene (“Equador”/“Guajarina”, I); δ-elemene (“Iaçará”/“Kottanadan”/“Cingapura”, II); elemol (“Clonada”/“Uthirankota”, III) and α-muurolol, bicyclogermacrene, and cubebol (“Bragantina”, IV). The major compounds in all fruit samples were monoterpene hydrocarbons such as α-pinene, β-pinene, and limonene. Among the cultivar leaves, phenolics content (44.75–140.53 mg GAE·g−1 FW), the enzymatic activity of phenylalanine-ammonia lyase (20.19–57.22 µU·mL−1), and carotenoids (0.21–2.31 µg·mL−1) displayed significant variations. Due to black pepper’s susceptibility to Fusarium infection, a molecular docking analysis was carried out on Fusarium protein targets using each cultivar’s volatile components. F. oxysporum endoglucanase was identified as the preferential protein target of the compounds. These results can be used to identify chemical markers related to the susceptibility degree of black pepper cultivars to plant diseases prevalent in Pará State.  相似文献
