A method of the wavelet transformation for estimation of geometrical parameters upon the diagnostic images

A problem of analyzing blood vessels on retinal images is considered. We suggest a method for extracting vessels using a wavelet transform. The wavelet transform is modified by adding a wavelet rotation parameter and normalization with respect to the signal energy within the wavelet carrier limits. The new methods, for constructing the vessel central lines based on the modified wavelet transform, are being used for vessels geometrical parameters estimation. The parameters of vessels that are located at the edge of the optic nerve disk are then used while diagnostic criteria formation for eye-ground pathological changes determining.     

The technology of leukocytes determination on blood preparation images

The presented technology of leukocytes determination upon blood preparation images uses the image representation in HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) color space. The results of experimental research of the technology quality depending on various distortions on model and real images are described. The text was submitted by the authors in English.     

On chromatic numbers of close-to-Kneser distance graphs

We study a family of distance graphs whose structure is close to that of Kneser graphs. We give new lower and upper bounds on the chromatic numbers of such graphs and consider the question of their interrelation. We also describe the structure of some important independence sets for this family of graphs and explicitly compute their cardinalities.     

Signal classification and software–hardware implementation of digital filter banks based on field-programmable gate arrays and compute unified device architecture

The paper is devoted to handling wideband monitoring tasks by discrete Fourier transform (DFT) modulated filter banks. Filter bank implementation is considered using CPU (Central Processing Unit) and CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) based on GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). We show that CUDA is more efficient for big signal sets due to low temporal and computational costs. The paper also discusses signal classification in filter bank channels for different signal-to-noise ratios using binary decision trees (with the iterative Adaboost procedure) and neural networks. The total classification error in our experiments does not exceed 10%. The results can be extended and applied to hydroacoustic monitoring tasks.     

Methods of Intellectual Analysis in Medical Diagnostic Tasks Using Smart Feature Selection

The paper deals with a computer technique for high-performance processing, analysis and interpretation of medical and diagnostic images. We propose a new approach to the analysis of different classes of images based on evaluation of aggregate geometric and texture parameters of allocated regions of interest which are supposed to be a basic feature set. The developed efficient feature-space generation technique is based on Big Data mining of unstructured information by applying the discriminative analysis methods. The technique makes it possible to extract regions of interest on fundus images containing four classes of objects: exudates, intact areas, thick vessels, and thin vessels. The use of Big Data technology made it possible, due to involving large amounts of data, to improve the training sample and reduce classification errors that ensured an increase of diagnosis accuracy up to 95%. The proposed technique has been applied to the coagulate location problem, that is a crucial problem of diabetic retinopathy treatment. The experiment results on real eye fundus images proved a considerable increase of treatment effectiveness.     

On the Possibility of Expanding the Dynamic Range of Broadband High-Frequency Receivers

The possibility of expanding the dynamic range of microwave receivers used in passive radar due to circuit specificities of the input linear circuits is considered. Engineering calculations and graphic dependences of the dynamic range as well as an example of constructive implementation and the results of measuring the main parameters are presented. The conclusion is made on the feasibility and expediency of using in microwave receivers with an extended dynamic range of input linear circuits with disableable amplification stages.     

Gamma-Spectrometric Determination of the 89Sr Half-Life

The half-life T1/2 of ⁸⁹Sr was estimated at 1208±9 h, or 50.34±0.37 days, by semiconductor [Ge(Li) detector] -ray spectrometry with measuring the intensity of the 913-keV -line (⁸⁹Sr) for 6000 h relative to the 661.7-keV -line (¹³⁷Cs) as the internal reference. The inaccuracy is given for the confidence level P = 0.95.
