The surface compositional and any structural changes that occur on carbon nanotubes using air-atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (APDBD) for functionalization are investigated employing Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and neutron diffraction techniques. Atmospheric pressure plasmas (APP) are suggested to be particularly suitable for functionalization of aligned nanotubes, where wet chemical manipulation could damage or even destroy the highly desirable vertical alignment. In this work a detailed experimental study elucidating the effects of APDBD plasma treatment parameters (e.g. power density, discharge composition, inter-electrode gap and treatment time) on the electronic structure, physical, and chemical behaviour of carbon nanotubes has been conducted. In an atmospheric air we find an optimal oxidative functionalization of CNTs in our DBD system within few seconds (<5 s) at a discharge power of ∼0.5 kW. This investigation may find useful application as functionalization technique for CNT engineered devices and sensors.  相似文献

The sex pheromone communication of the lesser peachtree borer,Synanthedon pictipes (Grote and Robinson), and the peachtree borer,Sanninoidea exitiosa (Say), can be disrupted by permeation of the atmosphere with their respective sex pheromones, (E,Z)- and (Z,Z)-3,13-octadecadien-1-ol acetate. The two isomers seemed equally effective against both species. Disruption was greatest when the pheromone was evaporated from the tops of the peach trees; also, pheromone traps placed in the tree tops captured significantly more males than did traps placed lower in the trees. Neither the color nor the directional placement in a tree (NE, NW, SE, SW) of pheromone-baited traps influenced captures of male lesser peachtree borers.Mention of a commercial or proprietary product in this paper does not constitute a recommendation or an endorsement of that product by the USDA.  相似文献

A micro/nano‐fabrication process of a nanochannel electroporation (NEP) array and its application for precise delivery of plasmid for non‐viral gene transfection is described. A dip‐combing device is optimized to produce DNA nanowires across a microridge array patterned on the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surface with a yield up to 95%. Molecular imprinting based on a low viscosity resin, 1,4‐butanediol diacrylate (1,4‐BDDA), adopted to convert the microridge‐nanowire‐microridge array into a microchannel‐nanochannel‐microchannel (MNM) array. Secondary machining by femtosecond laser ablation is applied to shorten one side of microchannels from 3000 to 50 μm to facilitate cell loading and unloading. The biochip is then sealed in a packaging case with reservoirs and microfluidic channels to enable cell and plasmid loading, and to protect the biochip from leakage and contamination. The package case can be opened for cell unloading after NEP to allow for the follow‐up cell culture and analysis. These NEP cases can be placed in a spinning disc and up to ten discs can be piled together for spinning. The resulting centrifugal force can simultaneously manipulate hundreds or thousands of cells into microchannels of NEP arrays within 3 minutes. To demonstrate its application, a 13 kbp OSKM plasmid of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) is injected into mouse embryonic fibroblasts cells (MEFCs). Fluorescence detection of transfected cells within the NEP biochips shows that the delivered dosage is high and much more uniform compared with similar gene transfection carried out by the conventional bulk electroporation (BEP) method.  相似文献

This paper deals with relay selection in cooperative networks with secrecy constraints. The proposed scheme enables an opportunistic selection of two relay nodes to increase security against eavesdroppers. The first relay operates as a conventional mode and assists a source to deliver its data to a destination via a decode-and-forward strategy. The second relay is used in order to create intentional interference at the eavesdropper nodes. The proposed selection technique jointly protects the primary destination against interference and eavesdropping and jams the reception of the eavesdropper. The new approach is analyzed for different complexity requirements based on instantaneous and average knowledge of the eavesdropper channels. In addition an investigation of an hybrid security scheme which switches between jamming and non-jamming protection is discussed in the paper. It is proven that an appropriate application of these two modes further improves security. The enhancements of the proposed selection techniques are demonstrated analytically and with simulation results.  相似文献

Two competing approaches for calculating coupling coefficients for lossy piezoelectric materials, one producing a real result and the other a complex result, are compared and analyzed. It is found that the complex coupling coefficient suffers from mathematical difficulties, which the real coupling coefficient does not exhibit. Moreover, it is pointed out that a prediction made by the complex coupling coefficient theory conflicts with experiment while the corresponding real coupling coefficient theory prediction does not. When a coupling coefficient of interest has been computed from the real coupling coefficient theory using piezoelectric equations having intensive independent variables, the resulting expression has the same algebraic form as the corresponding static coupling coefficient formula. Moreover, only the real parts of the piezoelectric, elastic, and dielectric material properties appear.  相似文献

This article reviews wireless enabling technologies to support interworking of heterogeneous networks, and covers two relevant topics; personal area networks and multistandard terminals. The variability of the PAN channel is demonstrated, and the implications for air interface design are discussed. To ensure the effective operation in the shared spectrum, radio resource management and medium access control strategies for PANs are also discussed. It is recognized that the terminal cost has significant implications for user acceptance; therefore, by combining the functionality from different standards (cellular, wireless LAN, broadcast), the cost can be reduced. Technologies and architectures relevant for multistandard terminals are reviewed, including synchronization and linear RF processing. Finally, the potential for further simplifications within the framework of multicarrier CDMA is considered.  相似文献
