Polycrystalline thin films of silver antimony selenide have been deposited using a reactive evaporation technique onto an ultrasonically cleaned glass substrate at a vacuum of 10-5 torr. The preparative parameters, like substrate temperature and incident fluxes, have been properly controlled in order to get stoichiometric, good quality and reproducible thin film samples. The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, AFM and a UV-vis-NIR spectrophotometer. The prepared sample is found to be polycrystalline in nature. From the XRD pattern, the average particle size and lattice constant are calculated. The dislocation density, strain and number of crystallites per unit area are evaluated using the average particle size. The dependence of the electrical conductivity on the temperature has also been studied and the prepared AgSbSe2 samples are semiconducting in nature. The AgSbSe2 thin films exhibited an indirect allowed optical transition with a band gap of 0.64 eV. The compound exhibits promising thermoelectric properties, a large Seebeck coefficient of 30 mV/K at 48 K due to strong phonon electron interaction. It shows a strong temperature dependence on thermoelectric properties, including the inversion of a dominant carrier type from p to n over a low temperature range 9-300 K, which is explained on the basis of a phonon drag effect.  相似文献

Video synopsis is an effective solution for fast browsing and retrieval of long surveillance videos. It aims to shorten long video sequences into its equivalent compact video representation by rearranging the video events in the temporal domain and/or spatial domain. Conventional video synopsis methods focus on reducing the collisions between tubes and maintaining their chronological order, which may alter the original interactions between tubes due to improper tube rearrangement. In this paper, we present an approach to preserve the relationships among tubes (tracks of moving objects) of the original video in the synopsis video. First, a recursive tube-grouping algorithm is proposed to determine the behavior interactions among tubes in a video and group the related tubes together to form tube sets. Second, to preserve the discovered relationships, a spatio-temporal cube voting algorithm is proposed. This cube voting method optimally rearranges the tube sets in the synopsis video, minimizing false collisions between tubes. Third, a method to estimate the duration of the synopsis video is proposed based on an entropy measure of tube collisions. The extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed video synopsis framework condenses videos by preserving the original tube interactions and reducing false tube collisions.

Herein we describe the development of a new class of antimicrobial and anti‐inflammatory peptidomimetics: cyclic lipo‐α‐AApeptides. They have potent and broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity against a range of clinically relevant pathogens, including both multidrug‐resistant Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria. Fluorescence microscopy suggests that cyclic lipo‐α‐AApeptides kill bacteria by disrupting bacterial membranes, possibly through a mechanism similar to that of cationic host‐defense peptides (HDPs). Furthermore, the cyclic lipo‐α‐AApeptide can mimic cationic host‐defense peptides by antagonizing Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling responses and suppressing proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α). Our results suggest that by mimicking HDPs, cyclic lipo‐α‐AApeptides could emerge as a new class of antibiotic agents that directly kill bacteria, as well as novel antiinflammatory agents that act through immunomodulation.  相似文献

Seaweeds, also known as sea vegetables, are of nutritional interest, as they are rich in vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. Enteromorpha compressa (Linnaeus), green seaweed (chlorophyta), which is a rich source of iron and dietary fibre was used as an ingredient in the preparation of Pakoda, a common traditional snack food in India. Pakoda samples showed increases in ash, protein and total dietary fibre contents with increase in Enteromorpha level, accompanied by a nearly fivefold increase in iron content (26.4–126 mg/100 g) and fourfold increase in calcium content (30.1–124 mg/100 g). Bioavailability of iron in Enteromorpha, and Pakoda containing 7.5% of Enteromorpha, did not show any difference (55–56%) at pH 7.5 (intestinal condition). But, at pH 1.35 (gastric condition) the bioavailability of iron in Pakoda containing Enteromorpha was found to be slightly higher (27.1%) than that in Enteromorpha. Reducing power (155–222 μg/g) increased as the Enteromorpha level increased from 0% to 15%. But the addition of Enteromorpha was found to decrease free radical-scavenging activity and the total phenol content. Pakoda containing up to 7.5% of Enteromorpha was found to have a sensory quality comparable with that of Pakoda without Enteromorpha.  相似文献

SnSe thin films of thickness 180 nm have been deposited on glass substrates by reactive evaporation at an optimized substrate temperature of 523±5 K and pressure of 10-5 mbar. The as-prepared SnSe thin films are characterized for their structural, optical and electrical properties by various experimental techniques. The p-type conductivity, near-optimum direct band gap, high absorption coefficient and good photosensitivity of the SnSe thin film indicate its suitability for photovoltaic applications. The optical constants, loss factor, quality factor and optical conductivity of the films are evaluated. The results of Hall and thermoelectric power measurements are correlated to determine the density of states, Fermi energy and effective mass of carriers and are obtained as 2.8×1017cm-3, 0.03 eV and 0.05 m0 respectively. The high Seebeck coefficient≈7863 μV/K, reasonably good power factor≈7.2×10-4 W/(m·K2) and thermoelectric figure of merit≈1.2 observed at 42 K suggests that, on further work, the prepared SnSe thin films can also be considered as a possible candidate for cryogenic thermoelectric applications.  相似文献

Sesame cake, the byproduct obtained after the removal of oil is presently used as cattle field. Present study evaluates the α‐glucosidase, α‐amylase inhibition and antioxidant properties of black sesame cake extracts. For that purpose, defatted seeds were sequentially extracted with ethyl acetate, methanol, methanol‐water 70:30 (v/v) and water. Among the extracts tested, methanol extract demonstrated better antioxidant activities (2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl, hydroxyl and superoxide radical) and total phenol content. But the total flavonoid content and the total reducing power was high for methanol‐water. Most active methanol extract was further screened for α‐glucosidase and α‐amylase inhibition. The extract showed strong α‐glucosidase inhibitory potential and mild α‐amylase inhibition. The study indicated that the extraction yield and the antioxidant activities were strongly dependent on the solvent, antioxidant assays and extract concentration. These results demonstrated that sesame meal can be exploited as source of protein and bioactive for the development of functional food.  相似文献

Adult orthodontics is recently gaining popularity due to its importance in esthetics, oral and general health. However, none of the currently available alumina or zirconia based ceramic orthodontic brackets meet the esthetic demands of adult patients. Inherent hexagonal lattice structure and associated birefringence limits the visible light transmission in polycrystalline alumina and make them appear white and non transparent. Hence focus of the present study was to assess the feasibility of using magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) spinel; a member of the transparent ceramic family for esthetic orthodontic brackets. Transparent spinel specimens were developed from commercially available white spinel powder through colloidal shaping followed by pressureless sintering and hot isostatic pressing at optimum conditions of temperature and pressure. Samples were characterized for chemical composition, phases, density, hardness, flexural strength, fracture toughness and optical transmission. Biocompatibility was evaluated with in-vitro cell line experiments for cytotoxicity, apoptosis and genotoxicity. Results showed that transparent spinel samples had requisite physico-chemical, mechanical, optical and excellent biocompatibility for fabricating orthodontic brackets. Transparent spinel developed through this method demonstrated its possibility as a prospective biomaterial for developing esthetic orthodontic brackets.  相似文献

To study the expression pattern of carotenoid biosynthetic pathway genes, changes in their expression at different stages of maturity in tomato fruit (cv. Arka Ahuti) were investigated. The genes regulating carotenoid production were quantified by a dot blot method using a DIG (dioxigenin) labelling and detection kit. The results revealed that there was an increase in the levels of upstream genes of the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway such as 1-deoxy-d-xylulose-5-phosphate reductoisomerase (DXR), 4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl diphosphate reductase (Lyt B), phytoene synthase (PSY), phytoene desaturase (PDS) and ζ-carotene desaturase (ZDS) by 2-4 fold at the breaker stage as compared to leaf. The lycopene and β-carotene content was analyzed by HPLC at different stages of maturity. The lycopene (15.33 ± 0.24 mg per 100 g) and β-carotene (10.37 ± 0.46 mg per 100 g) content were found to be highest at 5 days post-breaker and 10 days post-breaker stage, respectively. The lycopene accumulation pattern also coincided with the color values at different stages of maturity. These studies may provide insight into devising gene-based strategies for enhancing carotenoid accumulation in tomato fruits.  相似文献
