This paper presents a stochastic model that identifies network effect and customer orientation empowerment as strong antecedents of trustworthiness and trust in social media network environment. As Trust is emerging as a critical influencer of consumer behavior in organizations, social media has become the facilitator or the enabler of this influence. This paper aims to explore and examine the relationships amongst the antecedents of trust in the context of the social media network environment via Bayesian estimation and testing of the structural equation model. In facilitating the estimation of the stochastic model, a survey was conducted on 255 social media users. A series of statistical analyses were conducted prior to the estimation using Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). Results showed that network effect and customer orientation empowerment were significant predictors of trustworthiness and trust. Bayesian MCMC results confirmed that the findings were consistent with the literature.  相似文献

Access to lead compounds with defined molecular targets continues to be a barrier to the translation of natural product resources. As a solution, we developed a system that uses discrete, recombinant proteins as the vehicles for natural product isolation. Here, we describe the use of this functional chromatographic method to identify natural products that bind to the AAA+ chaperone, p97, a promising cancer target. Application of this method to a panel of fungal and plant extracts identified rheoemodin, 1‐hydroxydehydroherbarin, and phomapyrrolidone A as distinct p97 modulators. Excitingly, each of these molecules displayed a unique mechanism of p97 modulation. This discovery provides strong support for the application of functional chromatography to the discovery of protein modulators that would likely escape traditional high‐throughput or phenotypic screening platforms.  相似文献

Whey protein beverages reduced blood pressure in young men and women in a six week controlled intervention. There were no differences in systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), or mean arterial pressure (MAP) observed between groups consuming 28 g per day of either hydrolyzed or non-hydrolyzed whey protein in a beverage. However, in young adults with elevated DBP and SBP, whey beverage consumption significantly decreased SBP, DBP, and MAP by 8.0, 8.6, and 6.4 mm Hg, respectively (P ≤ 0.001 for all comparisons). In subjects with elevated SBP only, SBP significantly decreased by 3.8 mm Hg (P ≤ 0.04) after the whey beverage intervention. Subjects with normal blood pressure had no change in SBP, DBP, and MAP. Whey beverages also significantly decreased total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations (P ≤ 0.001 and 0.05, respectively). Whey protein beverages may be useful for the dietary treatment of prehypertension and/or stage 1 hypertension.  相似文献

Bacillus licheniformis I89 is a Gram-positive bacterium, a producer of the lantibiotic lichenicidin. No information is available on its fatty acid (FA) composition. Bacillus species are rich in branched FA (BrFA), claimed to be beneficial to human health and to treat diseases. Herein, the FA profile of B. licheniformis I89 was evaluated under different growth conditions: at two growth temperatures (37 and 50 °C) and at different growth phases (lag, exponential, and stationary), using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The FA profile revealed predominant BrFA of the iso-series and anteiso-series (i-15:0, ai-15:0, i-16:0, i-17:0, and ai-17:0) and low amounts of saturated FA (14:0, 16:0, and 18:0). Comparing the FA profiles at different temperatures, in the lag phase, at 50 °C, there was a decrease of ai-17:0 and a decrease of i-15:0 in the exponential phase, in comparison with 37 °C. In all growth phases, there was a decrease of ai-15:0 and an increase of i-17:0. From the lag to the stationary phase, at 50 °C, there was a decrease of ai-17:0 and i-16:0, whereas i-15:0 increased, while at 37 °C, there was an increase of i-15:0 and i-16:0, and a decrease in ai-15:0 and ai-17:0. B. licheniformis I89 can adapt its FA profile, at moderate temperatures, by changing the iso-FA and anteiso-FA composition and the iso/anteiso ratio. This nonpathogenic bacterium species can be used as a source of BrFA with putative beneficial health effects for gut protection and with reported antitumor properties, foreseeing its use for producing compounds with biotechnological applications.  相似文献

Convective treatments (high-flux hemodialysis (HD), hemodiafiltration and hemofiltration) are characterized by enhanced removal of middle and large molecular weight solutes compared with conventional low-flux HD. As these molecules are claimed to play an important role in the genesis of many complications of chronic HD, the availability of these techniques represented an intriguing innovation and a possible means to improve the still poor prognosis of HD patients. Here we will critically review the most important published studies comparing convective treatments with low-flux HD on chronic morbidity, preservation of residual renal function, and long-term survival.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence, risk factors, co-morbidities and case fatality rates of Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) admissions at the paediatric ward of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu, South-east Nigeria over a 10 year period. DESIGN: A retrospective study using case Notes, admission and mortality registers retrieved from the Hospital's Medical Records Department. Subjects: All children aged 0 to 59 months admitted into the hospital on account of PEM between 1996 and 2005. RESULTS: A total of 212 children with PEM were admitted during the period under review comprising of 127 (59.9%) males and 85(40.1%) females. The most common age groups with PEM were 6 to 12 months (55.7%) and 13 to 24 months (36.8%). Marasmus (34.9%) was the most common form of PEM noted in this review. Diarrhea and malaria were the most common associated co-morbidities. Majority (64.9%) of the patients were from the lower socio-economic class. The overall case fatality rate was 40.1% which was slightly higher among males (50.9%). Mortality in those with marasmic-kwashiokor and in the unclassified group was 53.3% and 54.5% respectively. CONCLUSION: Most of the admissions and case fatality were noted in those aged 6 to 24 months which coincides with the weaning period. Marasmic-kwashiokor is associated with higher case fatality rate than other forms of PEM. We suggest strengthening of the infant feeding practices by promoting exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, followed by appropriate weaning with continued breast feeding. Under-five children should be screened for PEM at the community level for early diagnosis and prompt management as a way of reducing the high mortality associated with admitted severe cases.  相似文献

Effect of cultivar (Efuru and Abuja) and drying method (cabinet and foam mat) on color, pasting, and sensory properties of instant pounded yam flours was investigated. Color (L*, a*, b*) values of fresh and dried flour samples were measured, and deltachroma (∆C), color difference (∆E), and hue angle were calculated. Pasting properties of flour and sensory attributes of fresh and reconstituted flour were determined. Foam density of yam pastes decreased from 0.97 g/cm3 to between 0.362–0.538 and 0.308–507 g/cm3 for cultivars Abuja and Efuru, respectively. Foam-mat dried flour showed higher L*, ΔC, ΔE, and hue angle but lower a* and b* values. Peak viscosities of cabinet and foam-mat dried Abuja and Efuru were 217, 304, 377.42, and 316.50 RVU, respectively. Sensory attributes of reconstituted foam-mat dried Abuja and fresh pounded yam were not significantly different (p > 0.05). However, fresh pounded yam (8.5–8.9) and reconstituted foam-mat dried flour (7.4–8.5) samples were significantly different (p > 0.05) from the cabinet-dried (6.9–7.9) and commercial samples (7.2–7.8).  相似文献
