Mössbauer studies of Fe2+ in water-soaked nafion polymer membranes in the temperature range between 90 K and 250 K have been performed. Above a critical temperature (~ 180 K) the spectra exhibit both elastic narrow absorption lines and quasielastic broad lines. These spectra are typical of bounded diffusion phenomena observed by Mössbauer spectroscopy in macromolecular systems like haemoglobin, myoglobin and ferritin. Similar spectral shapes have been observed by quasielastic neutron scattering from water in nafion membranes. Within 50 K above the critical temperature the total Mössbauer absorption area decreases by an order of magnitude whereas the narrow absorption line decreases by two orders of magnitude. The results are interpreted in terms of bounded diffusive motion of the iron. Using a model based on overdamped harmonically bound Brownian motion, the essential parameters of the iron motion can be derived as a function of temperature. The iron motion most probably reflects the motion of a large Fe2+ complex, e.g. Fe(H2O)2+6, which is attached to the polymer side chains via the sulphonic group.  相似文献

Multimodal training involving both visual and auditory information was shown to improve text comprehension and reduce cognitive load. However, it is argued that in spatial tasks visual guidance can impair training effectiveness because it encourages shallow performance strategies and little exploration. Moreover, visual aids are attractive to both trainers as well as trainees, who tend to use them despite their potential disadvantages. To examine this potential training trap, two experimental studies were conducted. In Study 1, each trainer instructed trainees on how to perform a 3-D puzzle in two conditions: vocal guidance (17 trainees), where only vocal instructions were possible, and vocal guidance with mouse pointing (17 trainees), where the trainer could also use a mouse to point out positions on the trainee's screen. The results showed that while the use of the mouse pointer reduced trainees' mental load during training, it also drastically lowered performance level on a non-supervised test. In Study 2, a real-world version of puzzle was trained. A comparison of a vocal guidance group (16 trainees) to a group trained with an additional mouse pointing and drawing option (16 trainees) showed, as well, reduced performance levels with the additional visual aids. The results suggest that the abundant use of multimodal training in Augmented Reality (AR) applications should be re-evaluated.  相似文献

The reaction of isonicotinoyl hydrazone of pyridoxal (PIH), a biologically active iron-carrier, with FeSO4-7H20 at pH ∼ 6 generates the delta, lamda species of the N,N-trans-O,O-cis-cis coordination isomer of an iron(III) complex with iron-to-ligand ratio of 1:2. The dark red-brown crystals are monoclinic, space group C2/c, with unit-cell dimensions a = 14.487(2), b = 18.586(2), c = 27.508(4) Å, β = 102.76(3)°, and Z = 8. The coordination around the metal is distorted octahedral and involves the protonated organic ligands, which are chelated through the phenolic oxygen [Fe-O1 1.941(6), Fe-O1′ 1.938(6)], an enolic form of the carbonyl oxygen [Fe-O3 2.017(6), Fe-O3′ 2.018(6)] and the azomethinic nitrogen [Fe-N2 2.133(8), Fe-N2′ 2.133(8)]. Packing is determined by systems of N-H….O and O-H….O hydrogen bonds involving the protonated pyridoxal nitrogens, the pyridoxal hydroxymethyl group, and the [SO4]2− group. The Mössbauer spectra at different temperatures (300 K, 88 K and 4.1 K) clearly prove that the iron atom in the complex is in a high-spin trivalent state.  相似文献

Nano particle of Fe3O4 (nFe3O4) up to 6 at% were doped in the superconducting MgB2 samples. Despite the strong ferromagnetic nature of Fe3O4, both the ac susceptibility and the resistivity measurements show that up to 4 at% of Fe3O4, T c =38 K is not changed, whereas for 6% T c decreases by 6 K. This indicates that a low concentration of Fe does not substitute either the Mg or B sites and probably occupies the intergrain spaces. For 0.5% doped Fe3O4, an increase in J c with respect to the pure MgB2 samples is observed in the lower field and temperature regions (H<2 T and 20 K) indicating an enhanced flux pinning and the magnetic activation, i.e., the interaction between the magnetic dipole of Fe ion and the vortices is weak in comparison to the effective pinning potential. Whereas, at H>2 T, J c of the doped samples is always less than that of MgB2, and the activation is dominant in comparison with the effective pinning potential provided by the doping. Flux jumps are observed in lower T and H regions for the samples doped up to 1% nFe3O4 only. Magnetization plots of higher Fe content samples exhibited clear paramagnetic background. Mossbauer measurements for the higher (4, 6 at%) nFe3O4 doped MgB2 samples show that at RT, the hyperfine field for both samples is ∼100 kOe and ∼120 kOe at 90 K. This means that the nFe3O4 particles decompose and form possibly an intermetallic Fe-B phase in the matrix.  相似文献

Escherichia coli introduced into the hydroponic growing medium of maize plants was detected 48 h later in the shoot. Decapitation of root tips or severing of the plant root system at the root-shoot junction enhanced bacterial internalization. The density of the bacteria in shoots of plants with damaged roots or removed root systems was 27.8 and 23.9 times higher than that in plants with intact roots, respectively. The concentration of viable cells in the hydroponic solution decreased over time from 9.3 x 10(6) CFU/ml at the time of inoculation to 8.5 x 10(1) CFU/ml 4 days thereafter. The number of E. coli cells associated with the roots also decreased with time, but a significant decline appeared only at 4 days postinoculation. At the time of sampling for E. coli presence in the shoot, 10(2) CFU/ml was present in the nutrient solution and 8 x 10(3) CFU/g was associated with the roots. The present study is the first to demonstrate internalization of E. coli via the root in a monocotyledonous plant.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effectiveness of a 3-week intervention in which a co-located cooperation enforcing interface, called StoryTable, was used to facilitate collaboration and positive social interaction for six children, aged 8–10 years, with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). The intervention focused on exposing pairs of children to an enforced collaboration paradigm while they narrated a story. Pre- and post-intervention tasks included a “low technology” version of the storytelling device and a non storytelling play situation using a free construction game. The outcome measure was a structured observation scale of social interaction. Results demonstrated progress in three areas of social behaviors. First, the participants were more likely to initiate positive social interaction with peers after the intervention. Second, the level of shared play of the children increased from the pre-test to the post-test and they all increased the level of collaboration following the intervention. Third, the children with ASD demonstrated lower frequencies of autistic behaviors while using the StoryTable in comparison to the free construction game activity. The implications of these findings are discussed in terms of the effectiveness of this intervention for higher functioning children with ASD.  相似文献
