Experimental study was made to confirm the validity of new designs of the auxiliary cooling system for the high temperature engineering test reactor (HTTR). First, it is necessary to vent residence air in outlet side of water chamber of the auxiliary heat exchanger for the HTTR. Accordingly, we have proposed to mount a proper bend duct in the outlet side of the water chamber. Air vent is done by difference between pressures at both ends of the bend duct caused by the forced water circulation using the water pumps. From flow tests, it was confirmed that it is capable of venting the air through the bend duct by circulating the water in maximum capacity of the water pumps. Second, it is essential to prevent seizure and excessive wear of the liner slides of the auxiliary concentric hot gas duct for the HTTR at a service temperature of 950°C. Therefore, we have put forward to coat titanium nitride (TiN) on the surface of the liner slides made of nickel-based superalloy Hastelloy XR using the thermochemical vapor deposition method. As a result of seizure and wear tests, it was confirmed that the TiN coating film of 3 μm on the surface of Hastelloy XR is sufficient.  相似文献

We report an unusual case of carcinosarcoma of the colon. An 80-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with lower abdominal pain. Computed tomography showed a large pelvic mass, 18cm in maximal diameter, and barium enema and colonoscopy both showed a type-2 tumor in the sigmoid colon. We performed Hartmann's procedure with resection of the ileocolic segment. Immunohistochemical stains of the resected specimen revealed that most of the tumor consisted of spindle cell sarcoma with neural and muscle differentiation, while only the superficial area of an ulcerated lesion contained adenocarcinoma positive for carcinoembryonic antigen. The patient died of a fast-growing recurrent pelvic tumor 6 months postoperatively. Our experience of this case and our review of eight other cases in the English literature indicate that wide resection provides the best chance of cure, but careful postoperative follow-up is essential.  相似文献

Sapphire plates, cut parallel to an {0001} plane, have been implanted with 300 keV nickel ions to doses ranging from 5×1012 to 1×1017 Ni cm–2 at specimen temperatures of 100, 300 and 523 K, in order to investigate the effect of implantation temperature on the mechanical property changes in sapphire caused by ion implantation. The measured changes in surface hardness, surface fracture toughness and bulk flexural strength were found to depend strongly on the implantation temperature, and were largely correlated with the residual surface compressive stress measured by using a cantilever beam technique. The surface amorphization that occurred only by the implantation at 100 K and at doses larger than 2×10s15 Ni cm–2 reduced the hardness to 0.6 relative to the value of the unimplanted sapphire, and considerably increased the surface plasticity. Furthermore, the amorphization was found to involve a large volume expansion of 30% and to change drastically the apparent shape and size of a Knoop indentation flaw made prior to implantation. This effect was suggested to reduce stress concentrations at surface flaws and hence to increase the flexural strength.  相似文献

Caviars represent the most consumed form of fish roe products. Due to high demand, ingredient roes of fish are often susceptible to illegal substitution with those of related fish. This study developed a simple and inexpensive protocol enabling the rapid extraction of DNA of acceptable quality and amount to PCR amplification from both cod caviars and their ingredient pollack roes. The protocol was based on extracting total genomic DNA from eggs using urea and a Chelex 100 chelating resin, and could be completed in less than 15 min. Approximately 8 µg of DNA were reproducibly obtained from single eggs of cod caviars and pollack roes in eight individual experiments, and the quality and amount of DNA were sufficient to serve as template for hundreds of PCR reactions of polymorphic DNA markers for phylogenetic analysis. Being applicable to various caviars, this protocol can be useful to detect illegal substitution among ingredient roes of related fishes in PCR‐based food inspection.  Advances in a digital network society require both higher density and higher transfer rates in all sorts of storage systems. Even in optical recording, the trend toward higher density and larger capacity requires novel surface-recording technologies that can drastically diminish head-to-medium spacing, resulting in an improvement in spatial resolution and, finally, a higher recording density. In this paper, we propose a novel contact optical head slider that is able to almost cancel the suspension load by generating hydrodynamic pressure, thus realizing a lower net contact force. A trial-manufactured contact slider being processed four sliding pads on air-bearing surfaces has indicated a gentle variation of both the acoustic emission signal intensity and the friction force as the circumferential velocity changes. Furthermore, a time-domain simulation was performed to investigate the effects of the damping of a medium surface (lubricant) both on slider bouncing and on contact force. In practical structural design problems, the designer should take into account several objectives, such as economics, safety, serviceability, aesthetic feeling and so on, and relative evaluations among these different characteristic objectives have some tolerances or fuzziness. For these reasons, the practical optimum structural design process concerning multiobjectives can be defined as a kind of compromising optimum decision-making process with fuzziness. In this paper, a rational, systematic and efficient fuzzy optimum design method for structural systems is developed by combining a suboptimization concept and fuzzy decisionmaking techniques at the discrete combinations of common design variables. The design method is applied to an optimum design problem of a large scale prestressed concrete bridge system considering two objectives; the total construction cost and aesthetic feeling. The rationality, the systematic design process and the efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated.  相似文献

An optical sensor combined total analysis system (TAS) is thought to be one of the most powerful functional elements needed to realize a “ubiquitous human healthcare” system. In accordance with this concept, we have proposed a fundamental structure of detecting side scattered light from a minute cell or particle running along a microfluidic channel, partially utilizing the channel filled with water or saline solution as a light waveguide. Based on this concept, we have fabricated a trial-manufactured optical TAS chip and carefully evaluated its side scattered light measuring performance in in-plane direction, supplying and detecting visible laser power by using multiple optical fibers and their precise positioning mechanisms. We have successfully obtained experimental results of both transmitted light power change and that of side scattered light, and we confirmed that there was a strong relationship between their signal waveforms. Furthermore, we have developed a hybrid numerical calculation method on the basis of the finite-difference time-domain method, in addition to the beam propagation method. Based on this hybrid method, we tried to compare results between the experimental inverse pulse of transmitted light and a pulse of side scattered light, and those based on numerical calculations. Excellent qualitative accordance was obtained between the inverse pulse of numerical and experimental results. In contrast, the experimental pulse of side scattered light indicated a considerably spread base in comparison to the numerical results.  相似文献

We have developed a new specific detection system for polyamines, separated by high-performance liquid chromatography, to replace the usual o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) postlabeling method. This system utilizes a chemiluminescent reaction to determine the amount of hydrogen peroxide generated through the enzymatic oxidation of polyamines. With this method, as little as 5 pmol of putrescine could be accurately determined (S/N = 4), and linearity between the amount of this polyamine and the relative chemiluminescence intensity was observed up to 500 pmol. In the cases of cadaverine, spermidine, and spermine, the linearity continued to 1 nmol. The within-assay coefficients of variation for these four polyamines ranged between 0.97% and 2.03%. As compared with the OPA method, the new method is highly specific for polyamines due to the high specificity of the enzyme used. Another advantage of the new method is the direct determination of polyamines in urine samples that contain various compounds that interfere with the OPA method.  相似文献
