A parallel hybrid method for solving the satisfiability (SAT) problem that combines cellular genetic algorithms (GAs) and the random walk SAT (WSAT) strategy of greedy SAT (GSAT) is presented. The method, called cellular genetic WSAT (CGWSAT), uses a cellular GA to perform a global search from a random initial population of candidate solutions and a local selective generation of new strings. The global search is then specialized in local search by adopting the WSAT strategy. A main characteristic of the method is that it indirectly provides a parallel implementation of WSAT when the probability of crossover is set to zero. CGWSAT has been implemented on a Meiko CS-2 parallel machine using a 2D cellular automaton as a parallel computation model. The increased risk of hemodialysis patients for infections sustained by hepatitis viruses is likely to extend to a newly discovered parenterally transmitted virus, HGBV-C/HGV, able to cause acute and chronic hepatitis. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and clinical relevance of this infection in Italian hemodialysis patients. Nineteen of 100 patients (19%) on maintenance hemodialysis were viremic for HGBV-C/HGV, and all of them were infected with a HGV-like genotype. Eight of these patients were coinfected by hepatitis B or hepatitis C viruses. A clinical picture of chronic hepatitis was not appreciable in patients with isolated HGV infection and the presence of HGV did not appear to modify the clinical course of hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections. 相似文献

Human motor neuron (MN) isolation provides a critical tool to study neurophysiological properties and the effects of molecules of clinical relevance on isolated neurons. We developed an immunomagnetic separation technique based on specific MN antigen recognition for nerve growth factor receptor (p75-NGFR). We cultured an average of 250,000 cells from the anterior horns of a single cord (four specimens at postconception Weeks 6.0, 7.2, 8.0, and 8.3). At day 7 in vitro (DIV), choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and/or p75-NGFR-expressing cells (MNs) represented 72 +/- 2% of the total growing cells. MNs survived for at least 4 weeks in biochemically defined medium. The immunomagnetic separation method has been demonstrated to be effective, reproducible, and quantitative for separation of MNs. 相似文献

Existing density-based data stream clustering algorithms use a two-phase scheme approach consisting of an online phase, in which raw data is processed to gather summary statistics, and an offline phase that generates the clusters by using the summary data. In this article we propose a data stream clustering method based on a multi-agent system that uses a decentralized bottom-up self-organizing strategy to group similar data points. Data points are associated with agents and deployed onto a 2D space, to work simultaneously by applying a heuristic strategy based on a bio-inspired model, known as flocking model. Agents move onto the space for a fixed time and, when they encounter other agents into a predefined visibility range, they can decide to form a flock if they are similar. Flocks can join to form swarms of similar groups. This strategy allows to merge the two phases of density-based approaches and thus to avoid the computing demanding offline cluster computation, since a swarm represents a cluster. Experimental results show that the bio-inspired approach can obtain very good results on real and synthetic data sets. 相似文献

The detection of communities is an important problem, intensively investigated in recent years, to uncover the complex interconnections hidden in networks. In this paper a genetic based approach to discover communities in networks is proposed. The algorithm optimizes a simple but efficacious fitness function able to identify densely connected groups of nodes with sparse connections between groups. The method is efficient because the variation operators are modified to take into consideration only the actual correlations among the nodes, thus sensibly reducing the search space of possible solutions. Experiments on synthetic and real life networks show the ability of the method to successfully detect the network structure. 相似文献

Signalling molecules are thought to play a significant role in determining the fate of neural crest progenitor cells. The human sympathetic chain was identified at 6.5, 7.5, 8.2, 10.2 and 11.4 postconception (PC) weeks demonstrating low affinity nerve growth factor (NGF) receptors, and was processed for tissue culture. In the presence of epidermal growth factor (EGF), floating spheres of proliferating progenitor cells were developed in vitro. In the absence of EGF progenitor cells differentiated into tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)-immunoreactive neuronal and TH-negative flat cells. NGF treatment significantly increased neurite outgrowth and survival of TH-immunoreactive cells. The multipotent cells we isolated differ from previously reported sympathoadrenal progenitors in that they give rise to TH immunoreactive neurones precociously sensitive to NGF. 相似文献

The prevalence of, and clinical risk factors associated with, vancomycin-resistant enterococcal colonization were investigated in patients suspected of having Clostridium difficile infection. Stools submitted for C difficile cytotoxin testing were screened for vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Isolates were speciated and characterized further by antibiotic susceptibility testing, DNA fingerprinting, and DNA:DNA hybridization for detection of specific vancomycin resistance genes. Of the 79 evaluable patients identified during a 3-month period, 16.5% were VRE-positive. The VRE isolates were genetically heterogeneous, although all carried the vanA gene. DNA fingerprinting data suggest that patient-to-patient transmission occurred, implicating colonized patients as potential reservoirs for VRE transmission. A positive C difficile cytotoxin assay and diabetes mellitus were the only identifiable risk factors associated with VRE colonization. Patients at risk for C difficile infection therefore may serve as reservoirs for VRE. 相似文献

Human term placenta and other postpartum-derived biological tissues are promising sources of perinatal cells with unique stem cell properties. Among the massive current research on stem cells, one medical focus on easily available stem cells is to exploit them in the design of immunotherapy protocols, in particular for the treatment of chronic non-curable human diseases. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells and perinatal cells can be harnessed both to generate insulin-producing cells for beta cell replenishment and to regulate autoimmune mechanisms via immunomodulation capacity. In this study, the strong points of cells derived from amniotic epithelial cells and from umbilical cord matrix are outlined and their potential for supporting cell therapy development. From a basic research and expert stem cell point of view, the aim of this review is to summarize information regarding the regenerative medicine field, as well as describe the state of the art on possible cell therapy approaches for diabetes. 相似文献

New evidence on the impact of dysregulation of the CDK4/6 pathway on breast cancer (BC) cell proliferation has led to the development of selective CDK4/6 inhibitors, which have radically changed the management of advanced BC. Despite the improved outcomes obtained by CDK4/6 inhibitors, approximately 10% of tumors show primary resistance, whereas acquired resistance appears to be an almost ubiquitous occurrence, leading to treatment failure. The identification of differentially expressed genes or genomic mutational signatures able to predict sensitivity or resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors is critical for medical decision making and for avoiding or counteracting primary or acquired resistance against CDK4/6 inhibitors. In this review, we summarize the main mechanisms of resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors, focusing on those associated with potentially relevant biomarkers that could predict patients’ response/resistance to treatment. Recent advances in biomarker identification are discussed, including the potential use of liquid biopsy for BC management and the role of multiple microRNAs as molecular predictors of cancer cell sensitivity and resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors. 相似文献

The Authors have studied the changes of GOT, GPT, ALP, CPK and Se in buffaloes under different physiological conditions (age, diet, different pre and post partum times). 99 adult buffaloes were classified in 8 groups on the basis of different pre, post partum time intervals. Moreover, other 39 animals were divided into 4 groups: A = 60-90 day old animals, fed with reconstituted milk supplemented with Vit E; B = same age, fed with maternal milk; C = 6-8 month old animals; D = 12-18 month old animals. In the various classes of animals blood ALP, GPT, GOT, CPK and Se were monitored. Results showed that the high variability in blood activity of the studied enzymes suggest that in establishing their reference values the physiological condition of the subject and the time interval from the parturition must be taken into account. The fact that Se was not detectable in many pregnant animals suggests that the prevention of myodistrophy in buffalo calves must be effected in prenatal epoch. 相似文献
