Today, the design of antenna arrays is very important in providing effective and efficient wireless communication. The purpose of antenna array synthesis is to obtain a radiation pattern with a low side lobe level (SLL) at a desired half power beam width in far-field. The amplitude and position values of the array elements can be optimized to obtain a radiation pattern with suppressed SLLs. In this paper, swarm-based metaheuristic algorithms including particle swarm optimization (PSO), artificial bee colony (ABC), mayfly algorithm (MA) and jellyfish search (JS) are compared to determine the optimal design of linear antenna arrays. Extensive experiments are conducted on designing 10-, 16-, 24- and 32-element linear arrays by determining the amplitude and positions. Experiments are repeated 30 times due to the random nature of swarm-based optimizers, and statistical results show that the performance of the novel algorithms, MA and JS, is better than that of the well-known PSO and ABC methods.

In this paper, the subspace based classifier, common vector approach (CVA), with the center of gravity (COG) method is used for isolated word recognition. Since the CVA classifier is sensitive to shifts through the time axis, endpoint detection becomes extremely important for the recognition of isolated words. The COG method eliminates the need for endpoint detection. The effects of the COG method and a classical endpoint detection algorithm on the recognition rates of isolated words are investigated. The experimental results show that the COG method yields slightly higher recognition rates than the endpoint detection method in the TI-digit database when CVA is used.  相似文献

Transposition of the great arteries is a complex cardiac malformation with poor prognosis without surgical correction. Since the introduction of surgical procedures such as the intra-auricular reorientation of the venous return (Mustard procedure), an increasing number of patients may reach adulthood and experience pregnancy. Because long-term complications after the Mustard operation include systemic heart failure, arrhythmias, venous return stenosis and pulmonary edema, hemodynamic changes during pregnancy and delivery may potentially engender life-threatening complications in these patients. We report the case of a 24-year-old primigravida who underwent a Mustard procedure at the age of 2 years for transposition of the great vessels, and who carried out a full-term pregnancy. The pregnancy was uneventful until the 34th week, when the woman developed signs of moderate right ventricular failure and frequent episodes of accelerated junctional rhythm. Digitalisation improved symptoms and elicited return to normal sinus rhythm. The patient delivered at term by elective cesarean section, under close hemodynamic monitoring.  相似文献

Neuronal cell networks have been reconstructed on planar microelectrode arrays (MEAs) from dissociated hippocampal pyramidal neurons. Microcontact printing (microCP) and a photoresist-liftoff method were used to selectively localize poly-L-lysine (PLL) on the surface of MEAs. Haptotaxis led to the organization of the neurons into networks localized adjacent to microelectrodes. Various grids of PLL with 2-25-microm-wide lines spaced by 50-200 microm with 15-25-microm nodes at intersection points were used to guide cell body attachment and neurite outgrowth. Bursting activity with spike amplitude attenuation was observed, and multichannel recordings detected instances of coincident firing activity. Finally, we present here an extracellular recording from a approximately 2 microm bundle of guided neurites.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Conventional solar heat-driven single stage two bed chillers demand a large area for installation of solar thermal collector to activate the chiller, but in a highly populated tropical country open spaces is insufficient. In the intention to utilize accessible solar energy with better performance, a mathematical investigation is carried out with a three bed adsorption cooling unit working with silica gel-water pair. The studied chiller is powered by direct solar heat collected by a series of compound parabolic concentrator solar thermal collectors without any heat or mass recovery. The working principal of the chiller is, in principle, the same as the conventional two-bed adsorption chiller. However, instead of two half cycles, there are three one third cycles in the proposed chiller in which at every cycle the former desorber is kept in the precooling mode and as an adsorber for the next two one third cycles, respectively. As desorption kinetic is faster than the adsorption kinetics, this longer precooling mode helps the silica gel granules to adsorb more water molecules and increase evaporation rate. Hence, a better cooling effect of at least 1°C can be observed, increases chiller working hour after sunset for almost a further one hour.  相似文献

This study investigates the performance of an adsorption chiller driven by thermal heat collected from solar collectors’ panels with heat storage. The heat is reserved in a storage tank and the reserved heat is used to drive the adsorption chiller. The investigation was carried on the climatic conditions of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Heat transfer fluid goes from the collectors to the adsorption cooling unit, then from the adsorption cooling unit to the storage tank. It is seen that heat storage is more effective than direct solar coupling; however, it requires more collectors, depending on the size of the storage tank. The analysis shows that cycle time is one of the most influential parameters for the solar-driven adsorption cooling system. It is seen that the size of the collector can be reduced if the proper cycle time is adjusted. The analysis also revealed that the system with 22 collectors (each of 2.415 m2) along with 1000 s cycle time provides better performance for the base run conditions. It is also seen that the solar-driven adsorption chiller with heat storage works well beyond the sunset time.  相似文献

Clinically apparent thyroid nodules occur in about 5 percent of the population. Because most patients with thyroid nodules present initially to their primary care physician, family physicians should have a thorough understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid nodules. The history and physical examination may be helpful in detecting thyroid nodules but are not useful in predicting malignancy. Furthermore, laboratory studies, ultrasonography and nuclear medicine scans do not reliably differentiate between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. In most cases, fine-needle aspiration biopsy can accurately identify malignant thyroid nodules. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy is safe and can be performed in an office setting.  相似文献

Zirconolite-rich full ceramic wasteforms designed to immobilize Pu-bearing wastes were produced via hot isostatic pressing (HIP) using stainless steel (SS) and nickel (Ni) HIP canisters. A detailed profiling of the elemental compositions of the major and minor phases over the canister–wasteform interaction zone was performed using scanning electron microscopy combined with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) characterization. Bulk sample analyses from regions near the center of the HIP canister were also conducted for both samples using X-ray diffraction and SEM-EDS. The sample with the Ni HIP canister showed almost no interaction zone with only minor diffusion of Ni from the inner wall of the canister into the near-surface region of the wasteform. The sample with the SS HIP canister showed ∼100–120 μm of interaction zone dominated by high-temperature Cr diffusion from canister materials to the wasteform with the Cr predominantly incorporated into the durable zirconolite phase. We also examined, for the first time, changes to the HIP canister wall thickness caused by HIPing and demonstrated that no canister wall thinning occurred. Instead, in the areas examined, the canister wall thickness was observed to increase (up to ∼20%) due to the compression occurring during the HIP cycle. Further, only sparse formation of (Cr, Mn)-rich oxide particles were noted within the HIP canister inner wall area immediately adjacent to the ceramic material, with no evidence for reverse diffusion of ceramic materials. Though the HIP canister–wasteform interaction extends to ∼120 μm when using an SS HIP canister for the system investigated, this translates to <<1 vol.% for an industrial scale HIPed wasteform. Importantly, the HIP canister–wasteform interactions did not produce any obviously less durable phases in the wasteform or had any detrimental impact on the HIP canister properties.  相似文献
