Using conventional high‐temperature superconducting wire, a model superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is made and tested. Solenoid coil using Bi2223 silver sheath wire is so made that inductance is as small as possible and a vacuum interrupter is connected in series to it. A conventional reactor coil is connected in parallel. When the fault current flows in this equipment, superconducting wire is quenched and current is transferred into the parallel coil because of voltage drop of superconducting wire. This large current in parallel coil actuates magnetic repulsion mechanism of vacuum interrupter. Due to opening of vacuum interrupter, the current in superconducting wire is broken. By using this equipment, current flow time in superconducting wire can be easily minimized. On the other hand, the fault current is also easily limited by large reactance of parallel coil. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. For multi-step heterogeneous consecutive reactions affected entirely by interphase diffusion under isothermal condition, the equations for the effectiveness factors, the surface concentrations and the point yields were derived in terms of the Damkoehler numbers or the measurables from the mass balances set up on the assumption that the mass-transfer rate balances the surface-reaction rate at steady state. From the analyses of the equations derived, the effectiveness factors for the intermediate steps and the surface concentrations of intermediates were understood to be enhanced by the measurables inclusive of the concentrations and the mass-transfer coefficients. Then the effect of the concentrations was concluded to be most significant. The effects of these measurables to the effectiveness factors and the surface concentrations were qualitatively discussed for simple consecutive reactions and also for additive consecutive reactions. Especially, as for two-step additive consecutive reactions, the effects of measurables η Da and the concentrations to the effectiveness factors were examined with graphical presentations. Finally, the brief discussion of the dependency of the Damkoehler number upon reaction time and the effect of the Renolds number and diffusivity to the extent of the mass-transfer resistance were presented.  相似文献

A novel diagram which describes the condition of 3 dB coupler is proposed. Using the proposed diagram, the design of a wavelength-flattened 3 dB directional coupler composed of a uniform coupled waveguide is investigated. Normalized waveguide parameters are introduced to characterize a five-layer planar waveguide. This enables us to generalize the discussion and to reduce the number of parameters required for characterizing a coupled waveguide. Various aspects of our communication are well known to have changed over time (1-3). This article describes a cross-sectional study that examined the acoustic characteristics of two groups of Australian women aged 18-25 years from recordings made in 1945 and 1993 and investigated the possible changes in the voice across generations. Archival recordings from 1945 which had been used in a longitudinal study (4) were compared to recordings made in 1993. The results of this study show that women in 1993 have significantly deeper voices than women of the same age recorded in 1945. The possible factors influencing this change are discussed.  相似文献

Polyphenyleneoxide was blended in amounts of 5 or 10 wt% into petroleum-derived mesophase pitch to reinforce the pitch fibre before the oxidative stabilization to achieve better handling properties. Although polyphenyleneoxide was fusible but hardly soluble in the mesophase pitch even at a spinning temperature of 350° C, blended pitch could be smoothly spun into pitch fibre 10m diameter, as could the parent pitch. Fibrous polyphenyleneoxide of less than 1m diameter was homogeneously dispersed in the pitch fibre, being arranged along the fibre axis. Such fibrous polyp henyleneoxide reinforced the pitch fibre considerably. The fibrous substances at the centre of the fibre disappeared in the carbonized fibre at 1300° C after oxidation at 250° C, although some short ones were observed in the skin region of the fibre, suggesting that polyphenyleneoxide was co-carbonized to be assimilated with mesophase pitch at the centre of the fibre, where the effects of oxidation may be rather limited. The oxidation reactivity and its mechanical strength after carbonization were slightly lower in comparison with those of the parent mesophase pitch.  相似文献

Films of spinel-type ferrite, MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co, Mg, Li0.5Fe0.5) have been prepared by a dip-coating method from the sol-gel process. Ferric nitrate, nickel nitrate, cobalt nitrate and lithium nitrate were used as raw materials, and glycerol and formamide were used as solvents. A film was prepared by dipping a silica glass plate. The spinel-type ferrite was obtained by heat-treatment at 700–900°C for 2 h in air. The film thickness was about 0.8 m. The saturation magnetization, r, of the film and powder with composition 50NiO·50Fe2O3 was 196 emu cm–3 and 29.1 emu g–1, respectively, and the coercive force,H c, was 140 and 95 Oe, respectively, after heat-treatment at 800°C for 2 h. In particular, the films were shown to have a much largerH c than the powder. The grain growth of spinel ferrite may be subject to restriction because it is in progress above an amorphous base-plate. The crystals are therefore aligned with the base-plate and have uniaxial anisotropy.  相似文献

Micro-/nanoparticle-based systems are regarded as one of the possible candidates due to the engineerability and multifunctionality to maximize the accumulation of the nano-/microparticle-based drug delivery system on the target. Recent advances in nanotechnology enable the fabrication of diverse particle shapes from simple spherical particles to more complex shapes. The particle dynamics in blood flow and endocytosis characteristics of non-spherical particles change as the non-sphericity effect increases. We used a numerical approach to investigate the particle dynamics in linear shear flow near a wall. We examined the dynamics of slender cylindrical particles with aspect ratio γ = 5.0 in terms of particle trajectory, velocity, and force variation for different Stokes numbers over time. We identified the rotating inertia of particle near a wall as the source of inertial migration toward the wall. The drift velocity of slender cylindrical particles is comparable to that of discoidal particles. We discuss the possibilities and limitations of using slender cylindrical particles as a drug delivery system.  相似文献

A variety of wound healing platforms have been proposed to alleviate the hypoxic condition and/or to modulate the immune responses for the treatment of chronic wounds in diabetes. However, these platforms with the passive diffusion of therapeutic agents through the blood clot result in the relatively low delivery efficiency into the deep wound site. Here, a microalgae-based biohybrid microrobot for accelerated diabetic wound healing is developed. The biohybrid microrobot autonomously moves at velocity of 33.3 µm s−1 and generates oxygen for the alleviation of hypoxic condition. In addition, the microrobot efficiently bound with inflammatory chemokines of interleukin-8 (IL-8) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) for modulating the immune responses. The enhanced penetration of microrobot is corroborated by measuring fibrin clots in biomimetic wound using microfluidic devices and the enhanced retention of microrobot is confirmed in the real wounded mouse skin tissue. After deposition on the chronic wound in diabetic mice without wound dressing, the wounds treated with microrobots are completely healed after 9 days with the significant decrease of inflammatory cytokines below 31% of the control level and the upregulated angiogenesis above 20 times of CD31+ cells. These results confirm the feasibility of microrobots as a next-generation platform for diabetic wound healing.  相似文献

The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) is a research facility instrument launched on NASA's Terra spacecraft in December 1999. Spectral indices, a kind of orthogonal transformation in the five-dimensional space formed by the five ASTER short-wave-infrared (SWIR) bands, were proposed for discrimination and mapping of surface rock types. These include Alunite Index, Kaolinite Index, Calcite Index, and Montmorillonite Index, and can be calculated by linear combination of reflectance values of the five SWIR bands. The transform coefficients were determined so as to direct transform axes to the average spectral pattern of the typical minerals. The spectral indices were applied to the simulated ASTER dataset of Cuprite, Nevada, USA after converting its digital numbers to surface reflectance. The resultant spectral index images were useful for lithologic mapping and were easy to interpret geologically. An advantage of this method is that we can use the pre-determined transform coefficients, as long as image data are converted to surface reflectance.  相似文献
