This paper describes the modeling of power-factor-correction converters under average-current-mode control, which are widely used in switch-mode power supply applications. The objective is to identify stability boundaries in terms of major circuit parameters for facilitating design of such converters. The approach employs a double averaging procedure, which first applies the usual averaging over the switching period and subsequently applies generalized averaging over the mains period. The resulting model, after two averaging steps and application of a harmonic balance procedure, is nonlinear and capable of describing the low-frequency nonlinear dynamics of the system. The parameter ranges within which stable operation is guaranteed can be accurately and easily found using this model. This paper studies a particular single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) switching regulator employing a discontinuous-conduction-mode (DCM) boost-input cell and a continuous-current-mode (CCM) forward output cell. Although this single-stage PFC regulator can provide a reasonably high power factor when its PFC stage is operating in discontinuous mode, substantial reduction in line-current harmonics is possible by applying a suitable frequency-modulation scheme. This paper derives a frequency-modulation scheme and proposes a practical implementation using a simple translinear analog circuit. A quantitative analysis on the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the line current when the circuit is subject to a limited range of frequency variations is presented along with some considerations for practical design. Experimental data obtained from a prototype confirms the effectiveness of the proposed frequency-modulation scheme. The stress-whitened damage zone that formed ahead of a semicircular notch during slow tensile loading has been measured from
optical micrographs of translucent blends of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) with experimental chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) resins.
When the zone was small, the plane strain condition applied and from the elastic stress distribution a constant mean stress
condition was found at the boundary of the crescent-shaped zone. The critical mean stress did not depend on the chlorine content
or the chlorine distribution of the experimental CPE resin used in the blend. While the critical mean stress decreased as
the amount of CPE in the blend was increased, the critical volume strain, calculated from the bulk modulus, was independent
of composition and was thought to be the controlling parameter for stress-whitening. When the zone was larger, the shape was
qualitatively described by concepts of stress redistribution in the presence of a plastic zone ahead of the notch. Macroscopic

We propose a novel fault detection and localization scheme for all-optical networks with the information of real-time data
traffic. Our adaptive fault localization framework is based on combining passive and proactive monitoring solutions, together
with adaptive management in two phases. Numerical results indicate that our proposed scheme has good scalability, in terms
of the number of fault monitors required. Also, we show that our framework allows more flexible network design, and requires

Carbon/carbon composites were made through the pyrolysis of stabilized PAN felt and phenolic resin with the addition of 5 or 10 wt % carbon black to the matrix and then heat treatment at 600–2500°C. The effects of adding carbon black to the matrix precursor on the physical properties, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the resultant composites were investigated. Adding carbon black not only reduced the weight loss but also limited the shrinkage of the resultant composites. Adding carbon black also accelerated the formation of carbon basal planes in the matrix. At 2500°C, the crystalline stacking height in the composite with 10 wt % added carbon black was 200% greater than that with no additive. A methodology for predicting the incipient equilibrium conditions for carbon dioxide gas hydrates in the presence of electrolytes such as NaCl, KCl and CaCl2 is presented. The method utilizes the statistical thermodynamics model of van der Waals and Platteeuw (1959) to describe the solid hydrate phase. Three different models were examined for the representation of the liquid phase: Chen and Evans (1986), Zuo and Guo (1991), and Aasberg-Petersen et al. (1991). It was found that the model of Zuo and Guo (1991) gave the best results for predicting incipient CO2 gas hydrate conditions in aqueous single salt solutions. The model was then extended for prediction of CO2 gas hydrates in mixed salts solutions. The predictions agree very well with experimental data. 相似文献

Brominated isobutylene para‐methylstyrene (BIMS) elastomer is a terpolymer of isobutylene, para‐methylstyrene (PMS), and para‐bromomethylstyrene (BrPMS). Viscoelastic measurements have been used to characterize the blends of this BIMS elastomer with different concentrations of a carbon black (CB) filler, N234. Data in the low temperature/high frequency region suggest that N234 at a concentration less than or equal to 15 vol % in BIMS appears not to affect the Tg of BIMS although a slight increase in relaxation time in the transition zone is observed. Also, the effects of BrPMS and PMS contents in BIMS on BIMS/N234 CB interactions have been qualitatively investigated by using the bound rubber measurements. To assess BIMS/CB interactions with reference to diene rubber/CB interactions, mixing of BIMS with various amounts of a polybutadiene rubber in the presence of CB has been performed. Atomic force microscopy and image processing have been employed to quantify filler phase distributions in these blends for a practical ranking of polymer/CB interactions. The irreversible deformation mechanisms of poly(vinyl chloride) with a semicircular notch under slow tensile loading have been studied as a function of sheet thickness. Initially, core yielding was observed in the optical microscope as two families of slip lines growing from the notch surface in the centre of the specimen. The size and shape of the core yielding zone could be described by plasticity analysis. A stress-whitened zone subsequently initiated near the tip of the slip line zone. The stress whitening was caused by 1 m voids that were visible in the scanning electron microscope. The mean stress for stress whitening was calculated to be 43.0±1.5 MPa by a plastic stress analysis of a pressure-dependent yield material. By assuming a constant mean stress along the boundary of the stress-whitened zone, the one-dimensional shift of the elastic stress distribution was obtained. At higher stresses, hinge shear and intersecting shear were observed for thick and thin sheet, respectively. 相似文献
