We study the effects of agent movement on equilibrium selection in network based spatial coordination games with Pareto dominant and risk dominant Nash equilibria. Our primary interest is in understanding how endogenous partner selection on networks influences equilibrium selection in games with multiple equilibria. We use agent based models and best response behaviors of agents to study our questions of interest. In general, we find that allowing agents to move and choose new game play partners greatly increases the probability of attaining the Pareto dominant Nash equilibrium in coordination games. We also find that agent diversity increases the ability of agents to attain larger payoffs on average.  相似文献

There is a large literature in economics and elsewhere on the emergence and evolution of cooperation in the repeated Prisoner’s Dilemma. Recently this literature has expanded to include games in a setting where agents play only with local neighbors in a specified geography. In this paper we explore how the ability of agents to move and choose new locations and new neighbors influences the emergence of cooperation. First, we explore the dynamics of cooperation by investigating agent strategies that yield Markov transition probabilities. We show how different agent strategies yield different Markov chains which generate different asymptotic behaviors in regard to the attainment of cooperation. Second, we investigate how agent movement affects the attainment of cooperation in various networks using agent-based simulations. We show how network structure and density can affect cooperation with and without agent movement.  相似文献

We model a labor market that includes referral networks using an agent-based simulation. Agents maximize their employment satisfaction by allocating resources to build friendship networks and to adjust search intensity. We use a local selection evolutionary algorithm, which maintains a diverse population of strategies, to study the adaptive graph topologies resulting from the model. The evolved networks display mixtures of regularity and randomness, as in small-world networks. A second characteristic emerges in our model as time progresses: the population loses efficiency due to over competition for job referral contacts in a way similar to social dilemmas such as the tragedy of the commons. Analysis reveals that the loss of global fitness is driven by an increase in individual robustness, which allows agents to live longer by surviving job losses. The behavior of our model suggests predictions for a number of policies  相似文献
