We report a rare case of temporary and severe hypercalcemia: the patient, a 69-year-old woman, was admitted to Osaka City University Hospital on July 25, 1992, for severe hypercalcemia. The laboratory data on admission revealed severe hypercalcemia (14.9 mg/dl) and renal dysfunction with increased serum creatinine level (2.9 mg/dl). The urinary excretion of pyridinoline and deoxypyridinoline was increased, and serum levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D were decreased. The data suggested that increased bone resorption was a probable main factor in the development of the hypercalcemia. The development of hypercalcemia seemed to be of acute onset because of (1) her severe symptoms caused by hypercalcemia and (2) impaired renal function which was improved after normalization of serum calcium level. Combination therapy with saline infusion and furosemide was administered, and there was a gradual decrease and subsequent normalization of serum calcium level along with serum creatinine. Even 8 months after discontinuation of the therapy for hypercalcemia, the serum calcium level remained within the normal range. The measured values of serum factors which are suspected to have a hypercalcemic effect, such as PTH, parathyroid hormone-related peptide and the cytokines (interleukin-1 alpha, interleukin-1 beta, interleukin-2, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha) were all within the normal range. In summary, the hypercalcemia in this patient was regarded to be a type of disequilibrium hypercalcemia due to a combination of increased bone resorption and decreased renal capacity to excrete calcium. Furthermore, since it was temporary and did not recur even in the absence of treatment, the hypercalcemia was concluded to have developed due to an imbalance in calcium regulation rather than as a result of organic disease.  相似文献

The low-frequency noise of pMOSFETs fabricated in epitaxial germanium-on-silicon substrates is studied. The gate stack consists of a TiN/TaN metal gate on top of a 1.3-nm equivalent oxide thickness HfO2/SiO2 gate dielectric bilayer. The latter is grown by chemical oxidation of a thin epitaxial silicon film deposited to passivate the germanium surface. It is shown that the spectrum is of the 1/fgamma type, which obeys number fluctuations for intermediate gate voltage overdrives. A correlation between the low-field mobility and the oxide trap density derived from the 1/f noise magnitude and the interface trap density obtained from charge pumping is reported and explained by considering remote Coulomb scattering  相似文献

This letter describes materials and electrical characterization of Pt-Ru binary alloy metal gate electrodes for control of the electrode work function. The work function of the Pt-Ru binary alloy system can be tuned over a wide range of 4.8-5.2 eV. The results indicate that the change of film properties, i.e., resistivity, work function, and crystal structure, with composition is consistent with the equilibrium phase diagram and that the work function in the face-centered cubic and hexagonal close-packed single-phase regions is only weakly dependent on composition, whereas a strong dependence is observed in the intermediate compositional range.  相似文献

Myasthenia gravis with antibodies (Abs) against the muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MuSK) is a rare autoimmune disorder (AD) of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) and represents a prototype of AD with proven IgG4-mediated pathogenicity. Thanks to the mechanism of Fab-arm exchange (FAE) occurring in vivo, resulting MuSK IgG4 k/λ Abs increase their interference on NMJ and pathogenicity. The characterization of hybrid MuSK IgG4 as a biomarker for MG management is poorly investigated. Here, we evaluated total IgG4, hybrid IgG4 k/λ, and the hybrid/total ratio in 14 MuSK-MG sera in comparison with 24 from MG with Abs against acetylcholine receptor (AChR) that represents the not IgG4-mediated MG form. In both subtypes of MG, we found that the hybrid/total ratio reflects distribution reported in normal individuals; instead, when we correlated the hybrid/total ratio with specific immune-reactivity we found a positive correlation only with anti-MuSK titer, with a progressive increase of hybrid/total mean values with increasing disease severity, indirectly confirming that most part of hybrid IgG4 molecules are engaged in the anti-MuSK pathogenetic immune-reactivity. Further analysis is necessary to strengthen the significance of this less unknown biomarker, but we retain it is full of a diagnostic-prognostic powerful potential for the management of MuSK-MG.  相似文献

Concentration and purification of lignosulphonates (LS) present in spent sulfite liquor (SSL) obtained from the paper industry were carried out through ultrafiltration (UF). The salts of lignosulphonic acid, a product of acid hydrolysis of lignin, are a major component of technical LS. In respect of molecular weight composition, LS represent a polydispersed system with a wide range of molecular weight distributions, from 200 to 150,000 Da. They have good adhesive properties and are used as plasticizers, peptizers, and stabilizers in the industry. The usefulness of LS is dependent on the molecular weight composition. Higher molecular weight LS fractions show properties of amorphous polymeric substances, which may have much industrial use. Diafiltration operation was used for purification of LS. The LS present in SSL were estimated using different membranes (polysulphone, cellulose acetate, fluoropolymer) of varied cut-off sizes (1 K, 5 K, 10 K, 20 K, 25 K, 50 K and 100 K). Sharp cut-off membranes in between 20 K and 100 K Da show close rejections (80-84%). The effect of different operating conditions such as different transmembrane pressures, dilution of SSL, membrane materials and different cut-off sizes was studied on flux and rejection. The effect of sharp and diffused cut-off membranes on flux and rejection was also studied. Continuous diafiltration (CD) was conducted over a high MWCO membrane (GR100K). It was observed that CD with a sharp cut-off membrane gave steady flux and a very good rejection of LS.  相似文献

Optical properties of amorphous thin films of silicon carbon boron nitride (Si–C–B–N) obtained by reactive sputtering has been studied. Compositional variations were obtained by changing the nitrogen and argon gas mixture ratio in the sputtering ambient. The effect of gas ratios and annealing on the optical properties was investigated. It was found that the transmittance of the films increases with nitrogen incorporation. Annealing at higher temperatures leads to considerable increase in transmittance. Optical energy gap (Tauc gap) calculated from absorption data is influenced by annealing temperatures and reactive process gas mixture. Changes in optical properties were correlated to the chemical modifications in the films due to annealing, through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Studies reveal that the carbon and nitrogen concentrations in the films are highly sensitive to temperature. Annealing at higher temperatures leads to broken C–N bonds which results in the loss of C and N in the films. This is believed to be the primary cause for variations in optical properties of the films.  相似文献

A photodetector (PD) with metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) structure has been developed using an amorphous SiCBN film. The amorphous SiCBN film was deposited on the silicon substrate using reactive RF magnetron sputtering. The optoelectronic performance of the SiCBN MSM devices has been examined through photocurrent measurements. Temperature effect, with respect to photocurrent ratios, has been studied. The detector sensitivity factor, which is determined through the PD current ratio, was greater than five at room temperature. Furthermore, the device showed an excellent current sensitivity factor that is greater than two even at a higher temperature of 200 oC . The improved performance of the device at higher temperatures could open avenues for high-temperature PD applications.  相似文献

We present the deposition and optical characterization of amorphous thin films of boron carbonitride (BCN). The BCN thin films were deposited in a radio frequency magnetron sputtering system using a B4C target. Films of different compositions were deposited by varying the ratio of argon and nitrogen gas in the sputtering ambient. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to perform surface characterization of the deposited films and a change in composition with nitrogen flow ratio was observed. The effect of gas flow ratios on the optical properties of the films was also investigated. It was found that the transmittance of the films increases with nitrogen incorporation. The optical band gap of the films ranged from 2.0 eV to 3.1 eV and increased with N2/Ar gas flow ratio except at the highest ratio.  相似文献

Enterobacter cloacae IIT-BT 08 was found to harbor multiple endogenous plasmids. The plasmids were successfully cured by the combined action of SDS and mitomycin C. The cured strain exhibited an altered pattern of antibiotic and metal resistance. The effect of plasmid curing on biohydrogen production was determined. LP model showed that hydrogen was a growth associated product for both the wild type and the cured strain. However, modified Gompertz equation showed that the productivity of the cured strain was comparable to the wild type. Further, comparative kinetic parameter analysis showed that the maximum specific growth rate (μmax) and saturation constant (Ks) were 1.26 and 2.2 times higher respectively, for the cured strain as compared to the wild type. Similarly, maintenance coefficient (m) was determined to be function of fermentation time and was lower for the cured strain. This was related to the decrease in plasmid load in the cured strain.  相似文献
