CO-tolerant electrodes developed with PhosphoMolybdic Acid for Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFCs) application

Several approaches were used to improve the CO-tolerant electrodes for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) when using processed H₂ as a fuel. The employment of transition metals oxides (WO_x, MoO_x) promotes CO oxidation and, for this reason, heteropolyacids (like PWA, PMoA, SiWA, etc.) containing these oxides were selected in this work, for the development of CO-tolerant electrodes.     

Regenerative periodontal therapy in mucogingival surgery for root coverage

This article illustrates the potential benefits of regenerative periodontal therapy in mucogingival surgery and esthetic dental treatment. Cases are described in which the treatment of soft-tissue recessions and root exposures are treated with surgical procedures where both clinical soft-tissue augmentation and the regeneration of periodontal attachment are obtained. Cases are also presented to illustrate the clinical application of guided tissue regeneration. Resorbable and nonresorbable barriers are placed over the root surface and bone and covered by the overlying flap, which allows the selective repopulation of the lesion by progenitor cells and the inhibition of a long junctional epithelium. Emphasis is placed on regenerative procedures in soft-tissue augmentation, particularly with respect to rationales, techniques, and indications.     

Familial background in aberrant mammary tissue is a ''protective'' factor against the development of nephrourinary anomalies

This is a report of a 26-year-old schizophrenic man treated with triazolam, levomepromazine, trifluoperazine and biperiden, who showed complete absence of spermatozoa in seminal analysis with normal plasma hormone levels. Sperm count reached 151 x 10(6)/ml after 6 months of triazolam withdrawal. A reversible effect of triazolam is suggested at the level of the germinal cells which are differentiating, without affecting the stem cells.     

Fatty acid composition and CLA content in goat milk and cheese samples from Umbrian market

Goat dairy products are considered as a suitable alternative to cow milk products for some special categories of consumers (infants, old, and convalescent people). In the present research, a study on the lipid fraction of commercial goat milk and cheese samples purchased from Umbrian market was carried out. Particular attention has been paid to evaluating conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) content and determining some interesting nutritional indexes. The results of goat milk samples showed that saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acid contents were on average 71.2, 23.4, and 3.8 %, respectively. CLA content (cis-9, trans-11 isomer) was on average 11.5 mg/100 g in milk. Considerable variability was observed for n6/n3 ratio that varied from 2.7 to 10.6 in the considered goat milk samples. With regard to goat cheese samples CLA concentration was on average 118.8 mg/100 g in fresh cheese and 217.7 mg/100 g in semi-hard cheese, and the difference was not significant. Interestingly, α-linolenic acid content was higher and n6/n3 ratio was lower in semi-hard with respect to fresh cheese samples (p < 0.05).

In this paper a procedure for the acceleration of the convergence is given. It allows the doubling of the order of the multistep methods for the numerical solution of the ordinary differential equation $$y' = f(x,y),y_0 = y(x_0 );{}_{x_0 }^x \in [a,b].$$ This acceleration is applicable to any method of orderp≥1 whatsoever, and it requires the evaluation of the globalp-th derivate of the functionf(x, y). Special attention is confined to the 2⁰ and 3⁰ order methods, and a numerical exemple is provided.     

A class of accelerators for BDF methods

In this paper a class of accelerators for BDF methods which preserve their stability properties is described. We give an algorithm that can be used as an alternative to Richardson extrapolation. Synthesis of Filtering Structures for Microstrip Active Antennas Using Orlov's Formula

In this paper, a synthesis technique for nonuniform filtering structures to be employed in active integrated antenna layouts is presented. The idea is to suppress the higher harmonic contribution due to the presence of nonlinear components through a nonuniform transmission line properly designed via Orlov's synthesis formula. The theory presented is applied here to synthesize an amplifier‐based active antenna layout for wireless local area network (WLAN) purposes working at 2.4 GHz. The numerical results presented show the capabilities of the proposed approach.
