A herd-based survey of Salmonella in pigs was carried in a major pig producing region of Spain. Mesenteric lymph nodes were collected from the carcasses of 25 pigs from each of 80 herds at time of slaughter. Salmonella spp. were isolated from 31% of animals and 94% of herds. Within-herd prevalence ranged from 4 to 88%, with the prevalence in most herds being greater than 10%. A large diversity of Salmonella serotypes was found, with Typhimurium, 4,[5],12:i:-, and Rissen being the most prevalent. Two or more serotypes coexisted in 73% of the herds. Salmonella Typhimurium was present in 68% of the herds. Most (82%) of the Salmonella isolates belonged to serogroups targeted by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay tests for pig salmonellosis. Resistance to at least one antimicrobial agent was detected in 73% of the strains, and one or more resistant strains were recovered from pigs in 93% of the herds. Antimicrobial agent resistance (AR) was more frequent among the most prevalent than it was among the rarer serotypes. Twenty-five multi-AR patterns were found. Resistance to three or more families of antimicrobial agents was found in 75% of AR strains. The finding that many of the herds yielded isolates of several multi-AR patterns indicates that Salmonella infections were acquired from multiple sources. High prevalence of Salmonella in herds was associated with lack of rodent control programs, herds from farms with only finishing pigs, herds managed by more than one full-time worker, herds for which the source of drinking water was not a city supply, and relatively long fattening times.  相似文献

In a previous paper we characterized, in the Category Theory setting, a class of implementations of Abstract Data Types, which has been suggested by the way of programming in the EAT system. (EAT, Effective Algebraic Topology, is one of Sergeraerts systems for effective homology and homotopy computation.) This characterization was established using classical tools, in an unrelated way to the current mainstream topics in the field of Algebraic Specifications. Looking for a connection with these topics, we have found, rather unexpectedly, that our approach is related to some object-oriented formalisms, namely hidden specifications and the coalgebraic view. In this paper, we explore these relations making explicit the implicit object-oriented features of the EAT system and generalizing the data structure analysis we had previously done.  相似文献

Autonomic cardiovascular control involves complex interactions of heart rate and blood pressure. In patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), this control is impaired and parameters for its quantification might be of prognostic importance. In this paper, we introduce methods based on joint symbolic dynamics (JSD) for the enhanced analysis of heart rate and blood pressure interactions. To assess the coarse-grained dynamics beat-to-beat changes of heart rate and blood pressure are encoded in symbol strings. Subsequently, the distribution properties of short symbol sequences (words) as well as the scaling properties of the whole symbol string are assessed. The comparison of joint symbolic heart rate and blood pressure dynamics in DCM (n = 75) with those in healthy controls (n = 75) showed significant changes. Both, the distribution of words and the scaling properties indicate a loss in heart rate dynamics associated with blood pressure regulation in DCM. In conclusion, the analyses of short- and long-term JSDs provide insights into complex physiological heart rate and blood pressure interactions and furthermore reveal patho-physiological cardiovascular control in DCM.  相似文献

A single charge screening model of surface charge sensors in liquids (De Vico et al., Nanoscale, 2011, 3, 706-717) is extended to multiple charges to model the effect of the charge distributions of analyte proteins on FET sensor response. With this model we show that counter-intuitive signal changes (e.g. a positive signal change due to a net positive protein binding to a p-type conductor) can occur for certain combinations of charge distributions and Debye lengths. The new method is applied to interpret published experimental data on Streptavidin (Ishikawa et al., ACS Nano, 2009, 3, 3969-3976) and Nucleocapsid protein (Ishikawa et al., ACS Nano, 2009, 3, 1219-1224).  相似文献

In this paper, we present an inexpensive approach to create highly detailed reconstructions of the landscape surrounding a road. Our method is based on a space‐efficient semi‐procedural representation of the terrain and vegetation supporting high‐quality real‐time rendering not only for aerial views but also at road level. We can integrate photographs along selected road stretches. We merge the point clouds extracted from these photographs with a low‐resolution digital terrain model through a novel algorithm which is robust against noise and missing data. We pre‐compute plausible locations for trees through an algorithm which takes into account perceptual cues. At runtime we render the reconstructed terrain along with plants generated procedurally according to pre‐computed parameters. Our rendering algorithm ensures visual consistency with aerial imagery and thus it can be integrated seamlessly with current virtual globes.  相似文献

The protection provided by a migrating corrosion inhibitor (MCI) based on an alkylaminoalcohol was tested on concrete specimens containing reinforcing steel bar (rebar) segments. Two inhibitor dosages were investigated, together with two water/cement ratios and various chloride contents. The inhibition efficiency was followed over a period of 1000 days measuring electrical and electrochemical parameters such as the corrosion potential, the corrosion current density, the electrical resistance and performing electrochemical impedance spectra. The inhibitor was able to reduce the corrosion rate only when the initial chloride content was below 0.16 wt.% (percent weight relative to cement content). The efficiency increased as the water/cement ratio increased. There was no beneficial effect when the initial chloride content was greater than 0.43 wt.%. The efficiency of the product increased when the amount of inhibitor being applied doubled.  相似文献
