County manufacturing employment can be projected for the purpose of verifying a population projection. First, future county manufacturing employment is derived from a population projection by using assumed ratios of labor force participation, unemployment, and manufacturing employment. Second, independent projections of manufacturing employment are made, based upon statistical projections of county and national manufacturing employment trends. Third, both these quantitative projections are checked against the knowledge and judgments of leading businessmen and industrialists in the community, and adjustments are made in the quantities.  相似文献

Objective: Elucidation of clinically relevant subtypes has been proposed as a means of advancing treatment research, but classifying anorexia nervosa (AN) patients into restricting and binge-eating/purging types has demonstrated limited predictive validity. This study aimed to evaluate whether an approach to classifying eating disorder patients on the basis of comorbid personality psychopathology has utility in predicting treatment response and readmission in patients with AN. Method: Data were collected from 154 AN patients (M [SD] age = 25.6[9.4] years; 95.5% female; 96.8% Caucasian) at admission, discharge, and 3 months postdischarge from intensive treatment. Latent profile analysis of personality traits assessed at admission was performed to classify participants into personality subtypes, which were then used to predict outcomes at discharge and risk of readmission. Results: The best fitting model identified 3 personality subtypes (undercontrolled, overcontrolled, low psychopathology) that contributed significantly to multivariate models predicting study outcomes. This paper is concerned with the representation and recognition of the observed dynamics (i.e., excluding purely spatial appearance cues) of spacetime texture based on a spatiotemporal orientation analysis. The term "spacetime texture" is taken to refer to patterns in visual spacetime, (x,y,t), that primarily are characterized by the aggregate dynamic properties of elements or local measurements accumulated over a region of spatiotemporal support, rather than in terms of the dynamics of individual constituents. Examples include image sequences of natural processes that exhibit stochastic dynamics (e.g., fire, water, and windblown vegetation) as well as images of simpler dynamics when analyzed in terms of aggregate region properties (e.g., uniform motion of elements in imagery, such as pedestrians and vehicular traffic). Spacetime texture representation and recognition is important as it provides an early means of capturing the structure of an ensuing image stream in a meaningful fashion. Toward such ends, a novel approach to spacetime texture representation and an associated recognition method are described based on distributions (histograms) of spacetime orientation structure. Empirical evaluation on both standard and original image data sets shows the promise of the approach, including significant improvement over alternative state-of-the-art approaches in recognizing the same pattern from different viewpoints.  相似文献

Sensitization of a totally illuminated thin layer (TI-TL) photogalvanic cell based on the iron-thiazine photoredox reaction has been demonstrated by both current action spectra and enhanced white light output. Singlet sensitization of thionine (λmax = 601 nm) and of methylene blue (λmax = 660 nm) to wavelengths below 400 nm has been achieved. Photogalvanic output has been obtained upon illumination of a single solution containing two photoredex dyes and three sensitizers with monochromatic light throughout the wavelength range 375–700 nm. Sensitization with rhodamine 6 G considerably enhances cell output under illumination with white light. With some sensitizers, however, white light output is inhibited.  相似文献

Elevation performance of 1.25D and 1.5D transducer arrays   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Present 1D phased array probes have outstanding lateral and axial resolution, but their elevation performance is determined by a fixed aperture focused at a fixed range. Multi-row array transducers can provide significantly improved elevation performance in return for “modest” increases in probe and system complexity. Time domain simulations of elevation beam profiles are used to compare several types of multi-row probes. The elevation aperture of a 1.25D probe increases with range, but the elevation focusing of that aperture is static and determined principally by a mechanical lens with a fixed focus (or foci). 1.25D probes can provide substantially better near- and far-field slice thickness performance than 1D probes and require no additional system beamformer channels. 1.5D, probes use additional beamformer channels to provide dynamic focusing and apodization in elevation. 1.5D probes can provide detail resolution comparable to, and contrast resolution substantially better than, 1.25D probes, particularly in the mid- and far-field. Further increases in system channel count allow the use of 1.75D and 2D arrays for adaptive acoustics and two-dimensional beam steering. A robot-assisted automated facility was established within a biosafety level 3 laboratory located on a university campus. A unique integration of a Genesis (TECAN) liquid handler into the SAGIAN Core System (Beckman-Coulter) enabled tube liquid handling and transfer of reagents from tubes to microplates. An automated enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) for detecting herpes B virus antibodies was developed. Repetition experiments of the automated ELISA and comparison to the manual ELISA demonstrated the efficacy and high reproducibility of the automated method. It is anticipated that research and education activities will benefit from the establishment of the automated diagnostic laboratory in an academic environment.  相似文献

Binocular half-occlusion points are those that are visible in one of the two views provided by a binocular imaging system. Due to their importance in binocular matching as well as, subsequent interpretation tasks, a number of approaches have been developed for dealing with such points. In the current paper, we consider five methods that explicitly detect half-occlusions and report on a more uniform comparison than has previously been performed. Taking a disparity image and its associated match goodness image as input, we generate images that show the half-occluded points in the underlying scene. We quantitatively and qualitatively compare these methods under a variety of conditions.  相似文献

Measurements have been made of the normal fluid fraction of superfluid3He-B at eight different pressures between 0 and 29.2 bar. The minimum temperatures were such that n / was reduced to less than 0.5%. The experiments, carried out independently at Cornell and Texas A&M Universities, used similar Andronikashvilli-type torsional oscillators. The results are qualitatively similar, but show significant differences due to the use of different temperature standards. Both sets of results are presented in tabular form. The inconsistencies in the temperature scales preclude the examination of the results for possible strong coupling effects.  相似文献
