Carstensen and Rhodes1 have suggested that when, in stability programs, assays cannot be performed immediately after the protocol-designated storage time, then freezing them until such a time when assays can be performed would be a reasonable manner to retain the protocol schedule. They caution, however, that such a procedure may not be valid for dissolution data. A predictive analogy of turbulent mass transfer across wavy, sheared air-water interface, in deep water bodies is proposed. The theory is based on the formulation of a theoretical eddy diffusivity profile in the surface region, and it applies to the non-breaking wave regime. This paper describes the theory and results of a new generic technology for use in optical telecommunications and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM): dynamic digital holographic wavelength filtering. The enabling component is a polarization-insensitive ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) spatial light modulator (SLM) in conjunction with a highly wavelength-dispersive fixed diffractive element. The technology has been used to perform demultiplexing of single or multiple WDM signals, dynamic erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) gain equalization and channel management, and used to tune an erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) functioning as a high power, very narrow linewidth WDM source 相似文献

We present a new approach to analyse the deformation of the left ventricle of the heart based on a parametric model that gives a compact representation of a set of points in a 3-D image. We present a strategy for tracking surfaces in a sequence of 3-D cardiac images. Following tracking, we then infer quantitative parameters which characterize: left ventricle motion, volume of left ventricle, ejection fraction, amplitude and twist component of cardiac motion. We explain the computation of these parameters using our model. Experimental results are shown in time sequences of two modalities of medical images, nuclear medicine and X-ray computed tomography (CT). A systematic study of wall effects on the shear viscosity of short glass fiber-filled polypropylene and polystyrene is presented. The dependence of these effects on capillary radius, shear rate, temperature, and polymer matrix is examined. The “true” viscosity curves of these materials (free from wall effects) can be obtained by an extrapolation procedure. Breakage of glass fibers in the high shear-rate processes of extrusion and injection molding lead to an appreciable reduction of the viscosity of these materials and is probably the more important effect to take into account in these processes. 相似文献
