A simple electromechanical equivalent circuit model is used to predict the behavior of capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (cMUT). The equivalent circuit model of the cMUT lacks important features such as coupling to the substrate and the ability to predict crosstalk between elements of an array of transducers. To overcome these deficiencies, a finite element model of the cMUT is constructed using the commercial code ANSYS(R). Calculation results of the complex load impedance seen by single capacitor cells are presented, then followed by a calculation of the plane wave real load impedance seen by a parallel combination of many cells that are used to make a transducer. Crosstalk between 1-D array elements is found to be due to two main sources: coupling through a Stoneley wave propagating at the transducer-water interface and coupling through Lamb waves propagating in the substrate. To reduce the crosstalk level, the effect of structural variations of the substrate are investigated, which includes a change of its thickness and etched trenches or polymer walls between array elements  相似文献

The effects of change in injection pressure on spray structure in high temperature and pressure field have been investigated. The analysis of liquid and vapor phases of injected fuel is important for emissions control of diesel engines. Therefore, this work examines the evaporating spray structure using a constant volume vessel. The injection pressure is selected as the experimental parameter, is changed from 400 bar to 800 bar by using a common rail injection system. Also, we conducted simulation study by modified KIVA-II code. The results of simulation study are compared with experimental results. The images of liquid and vapor phase for free spray were simultaneously taken by exciplex fluorescence method. As experimental results, the vapor concentration of injected fuel is leaner due to the increase of atomization in the case of the high injection pressure than in that of the low injection pressure. The calculated results obtained by modified KIVA-II code show good agreements with experimental results.  相似文献

Numerous clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for panic disorder. However, studies investigating the mechanisms responsible for improvement with CBT are lacking. The authors used regression analyses outlined by R. M. Baron and D. A. Kenny (1986) to test whether a reduction in fear of fear (FOF) underlies improvement resulting from CBT. Pre- and posttreatment measures were collected from 90 CBT-treated patients and 40 wait-list control participants. Overall, treatment accounted for 31% of the variance in symptom reduction. The potency of FOF as a mediator varied as a function of symptom facet, as full mediation was observed for the change in global disability, whereas the effects of CBT on agoraphobia, anxiety, and panic frequency were partially accounted for by reductions in FOF. We have developed SH (shear horizontal) surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors for the detection of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) hybridization on the gold-coated delay line of transverse SAW devices. DNA hybridization experiments were performed with 15-mer oligonucleotides (probe and complementary target DNA). The sensor consists of twin SAW delay line oscillators (sensing channel and reference channel) operating at 100 MHz fabricated on 36° rotated Y-cut X-propagation LiTaO3 piezoelectric single crystals. The relative change in the frequency of the two oscillators was monitored to detect hybridization between the target DNA and probe DNA immobilized on the delay line of the SAW sensor. The measurement results showed a good response of the sensor to the mass loading effects of the DNA hybridization with a sensitivity level up to 1.55 ng/ml/Hz.  相似文献

Although there is increasing interest in policy issues on university patents, studies hitherto have focused on certain limited factors or case studies. By using a two-mode network analysis, this study identifies idiosyncratic patterns and differences in technology–industry networks between the two groups of Korean university patents—commercialized and non-commercialized. We collected patent data including bibliographic information from Korean universities that have run a patent management advisor dispatch program since 2005. Then, network analysis and analysis of variance for the two groups were conducted to investigate the group differences. We found that the structure of the technology–industry network was significantly more direct and simpler for commercialized than for non-commercialized patents. Specifically, we found that both direct and indirect linkages between technology and related industry were more complex for the non-commercialized group than for the commercialized one: the direct linkage was stronger for the commercialized than for the non-commercialized group. Our study suggests an important aspect of technology commercialization from the perspective of the inherent characteristics of patents, which is at variance with the evolutionary approaches of previous studies.  相似文献

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a piezoelectric material, has many useful applications, for example, as sensors, transducers, and surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices. Models of performance of these devices would be useful engineering tools. However, the benefit of the model is only as accurate as the material properties used in the model. The purpose of this investigation is to measure the elastic, dielectric and piezoelectric properties over a frequency range, including the imaginary part (loss) of these properties. Measurements are difficult because poled material is available as thin films, and not all quantities can be measured in that form. All components of the elastic stiffness, dielectric tensor, and electromechanical coupling tensor are needed in the models. The material studied here is uniaxially oriented poled PVDF that has orthorhombic mm2 symmetry. Presented are the frequency dependence of all nine complex elastic constants, three complex dielectric constants, and five complex piezoelectric constants. The PVDF was produced at Raytheon Research Division, Lexington, MA. Measurements were made on thin films and on stacked, cubical samples. The elastic constants c44D and c55D, the dielectric constants e11T and e22T , as well as the piezoelectric constants g15 and g24 reported here have not been published before. The importance of the convergent approach to technology development has increased recently. Therefore, understanding the characteristics of technology convergence, which refers to the combination of two or more technological elements in order to create a new system with new functions, is an important issue not only for researchers in technology development, but also for company directors for their successful management of product competitiveness. Therefore, in order to investigate the patterns and the mechanism of technological convergence, we examine the printed electronics technology which has typical characteristics of technology convergence. Based on the printed electronics-related patents registered between 1976 and 2012, we perform network analysis of the technology components in order to identify key technologies which played a central role among the groups of convergence technologies and to examine their dynamic role corresponding to the development of technology convergence. The results show that control technologies which control the role of other technologies over the technology convergence process play significant role. The centrality value is highest in the case of control technology, and devices related technologies have the largest number of patents quantitatively, thereby confirming the results. In addition, the trajectory analysis of the centrality value reveals a co-evolution pattern in technology convergence.  相似文献

In the flexoelectric sensing element using the bending mode, the estimation of the flexoelectric coefficient was investigated using 3-D stress/strain analysis and experiments. The proposed method uses the results (deformation and strain) from the finite element analysis (FEA). The estimated flexoelectric coefficients were compared with those obtained via the conventional method (Euler’s beam theory) under the assumption of the quasi 1-D stress field. The results show that the RMS value and standard deviation of the estimated flexoelectric coefficient for the 3-D stress-field case of the sensing element are 31.51 µC/m and 0.24 %, respectively. In addition, it is found that the flexoelectric coefficient obtained from the results of the 3-D stress analysis is 1.8 % smaller than that of the quasi-1-D stress analysis. Therefore, in order to obtain a more reliable flexoelectric coefficient in the sensing element, the results of the 3-D numerical stress analysis should be used for accurate estimation of the flexoelectric coefficient.

The characteristics of spray, auto-ignition, and the combustion process of di-methyl ether(DME) were investigated using a 3-D simulation of a combustion vessel under various engine conditions, including high temperature and pressure. Spray impingement and nonpremixed combustion models were incorporated into the computational fluid dynamics code, called STAR-CD. A Peng-Robinson equation of state was introduced to calculate the evaporation rate of DME droplets that were exposed to high-pressure conditions. A Laminar flamelet concept was used to simulate non-premixed combustion. A skeletal chemical kinetics mechanism consisting of 28 species and 45 reactions was used as the chemical mechanism for DME. Compared with the experimental data, the flamelet concept combustion model predicted the essential features of the combustion process and auto-ignition characteristics of the DME spray reasonably well for various initial conditions. The combustion process of a direct injection engine fueled by DME was also simulated and verified through experimental data.  相似文献
