Observations on the oral organelle,cytopharynx, and subpellicular structure of a Dileptus sp.

We used scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to observe the oral organelle, cytopharynx, and subpellicular structure of a Dileptus sp. The main results were as follows: (a) the cytostome was located on the ventral surface of the base of the beak, surrounded by a periportal matrix that integrated 135 microtube bundles. When these microtube bundles contract, radially arranged into a disk, the cytostome was closed. When these microtube bundles were stretch, they fell into the cytostome and opens. The diameter of the cytostome was about 16 μm regardless of its closure or opening, indicating that the contraction or elongation of these microtube bundles did not change the size of the cytostome, which was only related to whether it blocked the cytostome, thus determining the opening and closing of the cytostome. There were many microtube bundles on two sides of the feeding trough, which could widen or narrow the feeding trough and facilitate beak feeding. (b) The cytopharynx was basket‐like without a bottom with a diameter of about 6 μm and was woven from two kind fibers about 0.08 and 0.19 μm. (c) There were two types of extrusomes under the pellicle. Using transmission electron microscopy，the Type I extrusomes showed narrow and long egg shape, its cross section was circular which is composed by various electronic density of concentric. Using the scanning electron microscope, they were two slightly thin clavate, the length was about 5 μm, the diameter of the middle section was about 0.75 μm, and the diameter of the two ends was about 0.32 μm, they were distributed abundantly between the microtubule fasciculi which were located on both sides of the gap on the feeding groove. Using transmission electron microscopy, the Type II extrusomes showed egg shape. Using the scanning electron microscopy, they were about 1.6 × 0.8 μm in size, they were distributed abundantly under the body pellicle while rarely the proboscis. In addition, many different of developmental stages two types of extrusomes could be also seen in the cytoplasm. (d) There were very well‐developed fibrous systems under the pellicle that were woven from fibers about 0.14 μm in diameter that attached to the pellicle and bound some organelles in the cytoplasm (e.g., mitochondria, extrusomes) and other structures to the cytoplasm and maintained cell morphology. The results of this study not only supplement and enrich the morphological contents of the Dileptus sp., but also provide the basis for the study of the taxonomy of the Dileptus sp. It also provides a new method for researchers to explore the morphology and structure of ciliate cells under the cortex by SEM.     

Synthesis of highly efficient,structurally improved Li4SiO4 sorbents for high-temperature CO2 capture

Li₄SiO₄ sorbents for high-temperature CO₂ removal have drawn extensive attention owing to their potential application in carbon capture and storage (CCS). The major challenge in the application lies in the poor CO₂ capture performance under realistic conditions of low CO₂ concentrations, owing to the dense structure and poor porosity. In this work, Li₄SiO₄ sorbents were prepared with porous micromorphologies and large contact areas using a variety of organometallic Li-precursors, achieving fast CO₂ sorption kinetics, high capacity and excellent cyclic stability at a low CO₂ concentration (15?vol%). It was found that a high conversion of ~?74% was maintained for pure Li₄SiO₄ even after 100 sorption/desorption cycles. Moreover, by doping with Na₂CO₃ to reduce the CO₂ diffusion resistance, the conversion of the sorbent was further enhanced to 93.2%. The enhancement mechanism of alkali carbonate have been proven here to be ascribed to the formation of the eutectic melt of Li/Na carbonates, the existence and function of which has been confirmed in this study.

Cardiac Oxidative Signaling and Physiological Hypertrophy in the Na/K-ATPase α1s/sα2s/s Mouse Model of High Affinity for Cardiotonic Steroids

The Na/K-ATPase is the specific receptor for cardiotonic steroids (CTS) such as ouabain and digoxin. At pharmacological concentrations used in the treatment of cardiac conditions, CTS inhibit the ion-pumping function of Na/K-ATPase. At much lower concentrations, in the range of those reported for endogenous CTS in the blood, they stimulate hypertrophic growth of cultured cardiac myocytes through initiation of a Na/K-ATPase-mediated and reactive oxygen species (ROS)-dependent signaling. To examine a possible effect of endogenous concentrations of CTS on cardiac structure and function in vivo, we compared mice expressing the naturally resistant Na/K-ATPase α1 and age-matched mice genetically engineered to express a mutated Na/K-ATPase α1 with high affinity for CTS. In this model, total cardiac Na/K-ATPase activity, α1, α2, and β1 protein content remained unchanged, and the cardiac Na/K-ATPase dose–response curve to ouabain shifted to the left as expected. In males aged 3–6 months, increased α1 sensitivity to CTS resulted in a significant increase in cardiac carbonylated protein content, suggesting that ROS production was elevated. A moderate but significant increase of about 15% of the heart-weight-to-tibia-length ratio accompanied by an increase in the myocyte cross-sectional area was detected. Echocardiographic analyses did not reveal any change in cardiac function, and there was no fibrosis or re-expression of the fetal gene program. RNA sequencing analysis indicated that pathways related to energy metabolism were upregulated, while those related to extracellular matrix organization were downregulated. Consistent with a functional role of the latter, an angiotensin-II challenge that triggered fibrosis in the α1^r/rα2^s/s mouse failed to do so in the α1^s/sα2^s/s. Taken together, these results are indicative of a link between circulating CTS, Na/K-ATPase α1, ROS, and physiological cardiac hypertrophy in mice under baseline laboratory conditions.     

Block-mode discriminant analysis and its application to face and antenna signal recognition

In this paper we present a multi-linear algebra based approach for feature extraction and signal recognition. We call this method Block-Mode Discriminant Analysis (BMDA). Experimentations are carried out on the CMU-PIE benchmark database for the task of face recognition, and we further utilized our method for the application of the signal recognition of underground UWB dielectric resonator antennas. Experiments show that our proposed BMDA is more effective and fast than its predecessors.     

基于无线宽带的林业监控网络架构设计

针对林业监控网络信息化、智能化的发展要求以及当前已有网络应用业务单一、接入重组能力低等不足,开展了一种无线宽带网络架构设计;文章基于近些年快速发展并广泛应用的SPTN有线传输网络,以满足林业监控未来多样化的应用需求为基础,从监控网的功能应用和系统组成出发,构建由自组网和接入网组成的双层无线宽带网络架构,开展了组网规划和组网架构设计,并对无线宽带网络应用中涉及的抗干扰、安全保密、防雷等使用性问题进行了分析说明;通过对双层网络各节点的通信性能进行计算和评估,对网络方案部署应用的可行性进行了验证,满足林业监控网络大范围部署、高数据传输、快网络重组的应用需求,对后续林业监控信息化网络建设提供了有益参考。     

基于Petri网自动化构建BPEL流程的SMV模型

针对使用BPEL进行Web服务组合过程中,复杂业务流程的正确性验证繁琐且易出错问题,论文提出了一种自动化构建BPEL流程的SMV模型方法.该方法将BPEL流程自动化映射到Petri网,借由Petri网直观展示组合流程并进行边界值、死锁等性质的检查,再由Petri网可达图自动化生成SMV模型,使用模型检测工具验证系统的安全性和行为属性,从而在流程的设计阶段发现服务组合中可能存在的问题.实验结果表明论文工作可以有效地减少验证过程的复杂性,有助于提高服务组合流程的正确性.     

Impact of EBG Structures' Positions on the Performance of an EBG Antenna

Six circularly polarized patch antennas with electromagnetic band gap (EBG) arranged at different locations were studied. These EBG antennas were compared in terms of impedance bandwidth, axial ratio (AR) bandwidth and radiation patterns. When the EBG cells were placed closer to the edge of the substrate, the EBG antenna had a larger front radiation and a narrower bandwidth. Integrating the EBG cells closer to the center of the patch resulted in a wider impedance bandwidth, a wider axial ratio bandwidth and a decreased front gain.     

Aging behaviors of silicone rubber composite materials under outdoor environment

We investigated the aging effect on the chemical structure of silicone rubber composite materials under outdoor environment. The variations of low molecular weight siloxanes in silicone rubber were probed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry during the degradation process. The experimental results indicate that a series of cyclic siloxanes exist in both the virgin and aged silicone rubber samples, while the additional low molecular weight siloxanes (hexamethyl cyclotrisiloxane) only appear in the aged samples. Meanwhile, the total amounts of low molecular weight siloxanes in the aged samples are much less than those in the virgin ones. The loss of low molecular weight siloxanes is induced by the chain scission and depolymerization.
