As inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) may differently increase bleeding time (BT) and inhibit platelet aggregation in normal and lung-injured patients or experimental models, we studied the effects of iNO on hemostasis in presence and absence of an endotoxic lung injury in the rat. Eight hours after intratracheal administration of endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide [LPS]) or its solvent (phosphate-buffered solution [PBS]), four groups of rats were randomized according to the presence or absence of 15 ppm iNO added for an additional 10 h. We measured BT, ex vivo platelet aggregation, plasma fibrinogen, euglobulin clot lysis time (ECLT), and platelet and aortic cyclic guanosine 5'-monophosphate (cGMP) contents. Acute lung inflammation did not influence BT, but increased platelet aggregability, fibrinogen levels, and platelet and aortic cGMP. In control and endotoxic rats, iNO increased BT, reduced platelet aggregability, and increased platelet cGMP. iNO increased aortic cGMP only in healthy rats. ECLT was increased by LPS and unchanged with iNO. These results suggest that the extrapulmonary "systemic" effects induced by iNO on hemostasis were not strictly similar in healthy and LPS rats, inflammation inducing proper changes in coagulation parameters. However, iNO attenuated the procoagulant activity induced by acute lung inflammation, suggesting a potentially beneficial effect of this therapy.  相似文献

In this paper, our studies are focused on ellipses and problems related to their representation and reconstruction from the data resulting from their digitization. The main result of the paper is that a finite number of discrete moments, corresponded to digital ellipses, is in one-to-one correspondence with digital ellipses, which enables coding of digital ellipses with an asymptotically optimal amount of memory. In addition, the problem of reconstruction, based on the same parameters, is considered. Since the digitization of real shapes causes an inherent loss of information about the original objects, the precision of the original shape estimation from the corresponding digital data is limited. We derive a sharp upper bound for the errors in reconstruction of the center position and half-axes of the ellipse, in function of the applied picture resolution (i.e., the number of pixels per unit). Abstract-Convexity estimators are commonly used in the analysis of shape. In this paper, we define and evaluate a new convexity measure for planar regions bounded by polygons. The new convexity measure can be understood as a "boundary-based" measure and in accordance with this it is more sensitive to measured boundary defects than the so called "area-based" convexity measures. When compared with the convexity measure defined as the ratio between the Euclidean perimeter of the convex hull of the measured shape and the Euclidean perimeter of the measured shape then the new convexity measure also shows some advantages-particularly for shapes with holes. The new convexity measure has the following desirable properties: 1) the estimated convexity is always a number from (0, 1], 2) the estimated convexity is 1 if and only if the measured shape is convex, 3) there are shapes whose estimated convexity is arbitrarily close to 0, 4) the new convexity measure is invariant under similarity transformations, and 5) there is a simple and fast procedure for computing the new convexity measure.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To analyze retrospectively survival and prognostic factors of patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) autografted from 1979 to 1995 in a single institution. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 120 patients, 64 with aggressive and 56 with low-grade NHL, were autografted. The carmustine (BCNU), etoposide, cytarabine, and melphalan (BEAM) regimen was used in 104. The autograft was marrow in 101 patients. Marrow was purged in vitro by mafosfamide for 63 patients (adjusted dose [AD] in 32; unique dose [UD] in 31); 27 patients received a CD34+-selected graft. Following intensification, 45 patients received additional radiotherapy on previous sites of involvement. RESULTS: Outcome at 5 years for patients transplanted with low-grade NHL in first complete remission (CR1), in first partial remission (PR1), and in second complete remission (CR2) or beyond showed an event-free survival (EFS) of 75% +/- 12%, 46% +/- 18%, and 57% +/- 24%, a relapse incidence (RI) of 21% +/- 12%, 49% +/- 19%, and 43% +/- 25%, and a transplant-related mortality (TRM) of 5% +/- 5%, 10% +/- 7%, and 0%, respectively. For patients with aggressive NHL transplanted in CR1, in PR1, in CR2 or beyond, and in resistant relapse or in primary refractory disease, the EFS was of 73% +/- 9%, 58% +/- 19%, 29% +/- 16%, and 10% +/- 9%, the RI 22% +/- 9%, 14% +/- 9%, 77% +/- 18%, and 66% +/- 20%, and the TRM 6% +/- 6%, 32% +/- 21%, 11% +/- 10%, and 71% +/- 22%, respectively. In patients autografted upfront in first remission, additional radiotherapy was associated with a higher EFS, in univariate (P = .03) and multivariate analysis (P = .02, relative risk [RR] = .021). The role of graft purging with mafosfamide on the outcome reflected by the dose of colony-forming unit-granulocyte-macrophage (CFU-GM) per kilogram infused postpurging was assessed by univariate analysis: patients in first remission who received lower doses of CFU-GM had a lower RI and a higher EFS. CONCLUSION: This retrospective analysis suggests that marrow purging and posttransplant radiotherapy improve the outcome of patients with NHL autografted in first remission.  相似文献

In an international collaboration, a long-term radon concentration survey was carried out in schools of Southern Serbia with radon detectors prepared, etched and read-out in Italy. In such surveys it is necessary to evaluate measurement precision in field conditions, and to check whether quality assurance protocols were effective in keeping uncertainties under control, despite the complex organisation of measurements. In the first stage of the survey, which involves only some of the total number of municipalities, paired detectors were exposed in each monitored room in order to experimentally assess measurement precision. Paired passive devices (containing CR-39 detectors) were exposed for two consecutive 6-month periods. Two different measurement systems were used to read out CR-39s of the first and second period, respectively. The median of the coefficient of variation (CV) of the measured exposures was 8 % for 232 paired devices of the first 6-month period and 4 % for 242 paired devices of the second 6-month period, respectively. This difference was mainly due to a different track count repeatability of the two read-out systems, which was 4 and 1 %, respectively, as the median value of CV of repeated countings. The in-field measured precision results are very similar to the precision assessed in calibration conditions and are much lower than the room-to-room variation of radon concentration in the monitored schools. Moreover, a quality assurance protocol was followed to reduce extra-exposures during detector transport from Rome to schools measured and back.  相似文献

Approximately 200 volume traps were retrieved from dwellings in various radon prone areas in Europe. They were analysed for the purpose of retrospective radon assessment. Emphasis is put on specific problems encountered when using field samples as opposed to laboratory exposed samples. It was seen that in very dusty circumstances, direct penetration of radon decay products from the outside to the centre of the volume traps calls for extra caution. Rinsing the samples is proposed as a solution and was tested in field and laboratory conditions, showing good results. An attempt was made to give an assessment of the achievable accuracy of the method. Where possible, the volume trap retrospective results were compared with contemporary measurements or to retrospective results from surface traps. The overall impression is that although volume traps are sometimes hard to find in the field, the high reliability of the results makes it well worth the effort.  相似文献

This paper deals with partitions of a discrete set S of points in a d-dimensional space, by h parallel hyperplanes. Such partitions are in a direct correspondence with multilinear threshold functions which appear in the theory of neural networks and multivalued logic. The characterization (encoding) problem is studied. We show that a unique characterization (encoding) of such multilinear partitions of S = {0,1,..., m - 1}d is possible within O(h ldr d2 ldr log to) bit rate per encoded partition. The proposed characterization (code) consists of(d+l)ldr(h+l) discrete moments having the order no bigger than 1. The obtained bit rate is evaluated depending on the mutual relations between h, d, and m. The optimality is reached in some cases.  相似文献

The use of depleted uranium ammunition in South Serbia during the 1999 Kosovo conflict raised a great deal of public concern in the Balkans. Radioactivity levels of 238U in 20 wells and lake water samples were checked from the viewpoint of internal radiation exposure for South Serbian subjects. We have measured 238U concentration using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, whereas thermal ionisation mass spectrometry has been used for the measurement of isotope ratios, e.g. 234U/238U and 235U/238U. The concentration of uranium in water samples varies in the range 1.37-63.18 mBq/L. 234U belongs to the 238U natural radioactive decay series, and at secular equilibrium, the abundance ratio, 234U/238U, corresponds to the ratio of their half-lives. The 234U/238U activity ratio varies in the range 0.88-2.2 and 235U/238U isotope ratio varies from 0.00698 to 0.00745. These findings indicate that uranium in water was a mixture of natural and anthropogenic origin. The annual effective dose due to 238U was estimated to be in the range 9.2 x 10(-5)-2.1 x 10(-3) mSv.  相似文献

Proton conducting BaCe0.9Y0.1O3−x (BCY10) thick films are deposited on cermet anodes made of nickel–yttrium doped barium cerate using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique. BCY10 powders are prepared by the citrate–nitrate auto-combustion method and the cermet anodes are prepared by the evaporation and decomposition solution and suspension method. The EPD parameters are optimized and the deposition time is varied between 1 and 5 min to obtain films with different thicknesses. The anode substrates and electrolyte films are co-sintered at 1550 °C for 2 h to obtain a dense electrolyte film keeping a suitable porosity in the anode, with a single heating treatment. The samples are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS). A prototype fuel cell is prepared depositing a composite La0.8Sr0.2Co0.8Fe0.2O3 (LSCF)–BaCe0.9Yb0.1O3−δ (10YbBC) cathode on the co-sintered half cell. Fuel cell tests that are performed at 650 °C on the prototype single cells show a maximum power density of 174 mW cm−2.  相似文献
