In this paper we consider A(θ)-stable finite difference methods for numerical solutions of dissipative partial differential equations of parabolic type. Combining two rational approximation methods with different orders of accuracy, where the lower order method is applied n 0 times (n 0 fixed) at each time step, we prove the existence of a second order method which is contractive for all time steps. Moreover, we shed light on the conditions on the lower order method which are sufficient (and sometimes necessary) to obtain the optimal order of accuracy. For the one-dimensional heat equation we construct a family of numerical methods which are contractive in the maximum norm for all values of the discretization parameters. The health-care workers are known to be at risk of occupational transmission of blood-borne viruses. The goal of the investigation was to determine the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody and the occupational risk of HCV transmission among personnel at the Central. Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Budapest, Hungary. Serum samples of 409 health-care workers were tested for antibody to HCV with second and third generation ELISA-s and anti-HCV positive samples were confirmed with Western Blot Line EIA. A total of 10 (2.4%) of the health-care workers were confirmed to be anti-HCV positive. The prevalence of anti-HCV increased with advancing age: zero under 20 yr age group (N = 0/15), 0.9% in 21-30 yr age group (N = 1/112), 1.8% in 31-40 yr age group (N = 2/111), 3.1% in 41-50 yr age group (N = 3/96) and 4.0% in above 50 yr age group (N = 3/75). We found anti-HCV positive hospital worker in 9 out of 17 departments. The prevalence of hepatitis C antibody was 7.1-1.9% among the personnel of internal departments, pathology, intensive care unit and pediatric departments. No anti-HCV positive health-care worker was found in the surgery and laboratories. None of the physicians tested was seropositive for HCV. Eight of the nurses, one of the sanitary personnel and one pathological technician were seropositive for HCV. Two nurses developed a chronic C hepatitis after a needlestick accident. CONCLUSIONS: 1. The hospital personnel is at risk for HCV infection. 2. The occupational risk of HCV infection increases with age but the risk is considerable lower than that of hepatitis B infection. 3. The occupational risk is highest among the workers of the chronic internal department, pathology and intensive care unit. 4. The nurses are at higher risk of HCV infection than the physicians. 5. The needlestick injury is associated with an increased risk for acquiring HCV infection.  相似文献

The limited effect of current medications on neuropathic pain (NP) has initiated large efforts to develop effective treatments. Animal studies showed that glycine transporter (GlyT) inhibitors are promising analgesics in NP, though concerns regarding adverse effects were raised. We aimed to study NFPS and Org-25543, GlyT-1 and GlyT-2 inhibitors, respectively and their combination in rat mononeuropathic pain evoked by partial sciatic nerve ligation. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) glycine content was also determined by capillary electrophoresis. Subcutaneous (s.c.) 4 mg/kg NFPS or Org-25543 showed analgesia following acute administration (30–60 min). Small doses of each compound failed to produce antiallodynia up to 180 min after the acute administration. However, NFPS (1 mg/kg) produced antiallodynia after four days of treatment. Co-treatment with subanalgesic doses of NFPS (1 mg/kg) and Org-25543 (2 mg/kg) produced analgesia at 60 min and thereafter meanwhile increased significantly the CSF glycine content. This combination alleviated NP without affecting motor function. Test compounds failed to activate G-proteins in spinal cord. To the best of our knowledge for the first time we demonstrated augmented analgesia by combining GlyT-1 and 2 inhibitors. Increased CSF glycine content supports involvement of glycinergic system. Combining selective GlyT inhibitors or developing non-selective GlyT inhibitors might have therapeutic value in NP.  相似文献

The enantioselective hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate to (S)-ethyl lactate over cinchonine- and -isocinchonine-modified Pt/Al2O3 catalysts was studied as a function of modifier concentration and reaction temperature. The maximum enantioselectivities obtained under the applied mild conditions were 89% ee using cinchonine (0.014 mmoldm–3, 1 bar H2, 23°C, 6% AcOH in toluene), and 76% ee in the case of -isocinchonine (0.14 mmoldm–3, 1 bar H2, –10°C, 6% AcOH in toluene). Since -isocinchonine of rigid structure exists only in anti-open conformation these data provide additional experimental evidence to support the former suggestion concerning the dominating role of anti-open conformation in these cinchona-modified enantioselective hydrogenations.  相似文献

The investigation of microstructure, some electrical and optical parameters of transparent ThO2-15 mol % yo1.5 ceramics has shown: (a) a very low porosity, close to zero; (b) a higher electrical conductivity than is usual for ThO2 ceramics of the same composition, with the activation energy 1.12 eV; (c) a relative permittivity r 33 under the given conditions; (d) confirmation of a single-phase fluorite-type cubic structure by means of Raman and infrared spectra.  相似文献

We first consider the problem of finding a maximum size stable matching if incomplete lists and ties are both allowed, but ties are on one side only. For this problem we give a simple, linear time 3/2-approximation algorithm, improving on the best known approximation factor 5/3 of Irving and Manlove (J. Comb. Optim., doi:10.1007/s10878-007-9133-x, 2007). Next, we show how this extends to the Hospitals/Residents problem with the same ratio if the residents have strict orders. We also give a simple linear time algorithm for the general problem with approximation factor 5/3, improving the best known 15/8-approximation algorithm of Iwama, Miyazaki and Yamauchi (SODA ??07: Proceedings of the Eighteenth Annual ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms, pp.?288?C297, 2007). For the cases considered in this paper it is NP-hard to approximate within a factor of 21/19 by the result of Halldórsson et?al. (ACM Transactions on Algorithms 3(3):30, 2007). Our algorithms not only give better approximation ratios than the cited ones, but are much simpler and run significantly faster. Also we may drop a restriction used in (J. Comb. Optim., doi:10.1007/s10878-007-9133-x, 2007) and the analysis is substantially more moderate. The actin containing tropomyosin and troponin decorated thin filaments form one of the crucial components of the contractile apparatus in muscles. The thin filaments are organized into densely packed lattices interdigitated with myosin-based thick filaments. The crossbridge interactions between these myofilaments drive muscle contraction, and the degree of myofilament overlap is a key factor of contractile force determination. As such, the optimal length of the thin filaments is critical for efficient activity, therefore, this parameter is precisely controlled according to the workload of a given muscle. Thin filament length is thought to be regulated by two major, but only partially understood mechanisms: it is set by (i) factors that mediate the assembly of filaments from monomers and catalyze their elongation, and (ii) by factors that specify their length and uniformity. Mutations affecting these factors can alter the length of thin filaments, and in human cases, many of them are linked to debilitating diseases such as nemaline myopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy.  相似文献

Aniline (AN) is one of the most important compounds in the chemical industry and is prepared by the catalytic hydrogenation of nitrobenzene (NB). The development of novel, multifunctional catalysts which are easily recoverable from the reaction mixture is, therefore, of paramount importance. Compared to conventional filtration, magnetic separation is favored because it is cheaper and more facile. For satisfying these requirements, we developed manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4)–supported, magnetically separable palladium catalysts with high catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of nitrobenzene to aniline. In addition to high NB conversion and AN yield, remarkable aniline selectivity (above 96 n/n%) was achieved. Surprisingly, the magnetic support alone also shows moderate catalytic activity even without noble metals, and thus, up to 94 n/n% nitrobenzene conversion, along with 47 n/n% aniline yield, are attainable. After adding palladium nanoparticles to the support, the combined catalytic activity of the two nanomaterials yielded a fast, efficient, and highly selective catalyst. During the test of the Pd/MnFe2O4 catalyst in NB hydrogenation, no by-products were detected, and consequently, above 96 n/n% aniline yield and 96 n/n% selectivity were achieved. The activity of the Pd/MnFe2O4 catalyst was not particularly sensitive to the hydrogenation temperature, and reuse tests indicate its applicability in at least four cycles without regeneration. The remarkable catalytic activity and other favorable properties can make our catalyst potentially applicable to both NB hydrogenation and other similar or slightly different reactions.  相似文献
