CO2‐assisted polymer processing is proposed as an alternative route for intractable and high molecular weight polymers based on the plasticization effects of CO2 and its direct effect on the melting behavior of semicrystalline polymers. A modified processing system was used to process a variety of polymers in the presence of high‐pressure CO2. The system includes an extruder that was modified to allow for high pressures created by the injection of CO2. The new design includes a modified feed section that allows a given mass of polymer to interact with CO2 before and during the extrusion process. The inherent shear mixing and the presence of CO2 allow for a specific control over the extrudate morphology. Results suggest that this alternative design provides a new and easy route to melt process high melt viscosity polymers of commercial importance, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer (FEP), and syndiotactic polystyrene (s‐PS). The increased processability of these systems in CO2 is related to the plasticization effect of CO2 that was quantified through a depression in the glass‐transition temperature according to the Chow model. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article reports the synthesis and characterization of four arm star‐shaped poly(styrene‐b‐[(butadiene)1?x‐(ethylene‐co‐butylene)x]‐b‐styrene) (SBEBS) copolymers. A series of SBEBS copolymers with different compositions of the elastomeric block were produced by hydrogenating a given poly(styrene‐b‐butadiene‐b‐styrene) (SBS) copolymer using a catalyst prepared from bis(η5‐cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) dichloride and n‐butyllithium. The characterization was accomplished by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results indicate that there is a selective saturation of the polybutadiene block over the polystyrene block; this selectivity was determined by the Ti/Li molar ratio and the concentration of Ti. It was observed that the saturation rate of the 1,2‐vinyl was higher than that of the 1,4‐trans and 1,4‐cis poly(butadiene)‐b isomers. The DSC and DMA results indicate that the degree of hydrogenation had a profound effect on the polymer's relaxation behavior. All samples exhibited a biphasic system behavior with two distinct transitions corresponding to the elastomeric and polystyrene blocks. SBEBS copolymers with higher saturation levels (>33%) exhibited a crystalline character. The TGA results indicated a characteristic weight loss temperature in all samples, with slightly higher thermal degradation stabilities in the materials with higher degrees of saturation. POLYM. ENG. Although the cerebellum has traditionally been regarded as a motor mechanism, recent behavioral evidence indicates that the human cerebellum is involved in a wider range of functions: in learning, in planning, in judging time, in some emotional and cognitive disorders such as autism, and in some normal mental activities such as the cognitive processing of words. This evidence suggests that the traditional view of cerebellar function now needs to be reassessed and enlarged to include nonmotor as well as motor functions in the human brain. Whereas the cerebellar connections to frontal motor areas enable the cerebellum to improve motor skills, cerebellar connections to adjacent association areas of the prefrontal cortex can enable the cerebellum to improve mental skills, and cerebellar connections to Broca's area can enable the cerebellum to improve language skills. For the management of information systems in health care, it is important that projects are systematically planned and carried out. This is a major task for medical informatics professionals which should be taught in a medical informatics curriculum. In the respective lecture in the Heidelberg/Heilbronn medical informatics curriculum, we teach fundamentals of the management of information systems and of projects. The examples of the lecture are taken from hospital information systems. Furthermore, we have developed a 5-step method for the systematic, goal-oriented planning of projects. The lecture is complemented by a comprehensive practical training, so that the methods taught can be applied to a particular, relevant problem of the Heidelberg University Hospital. 相似文献

Key relationships between molecular structure and final properties are reported for standard flow and high flow grades of commercially‐available polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resins that differ primarily in molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. Despite similar chemistry and composition, the molecular size‐dependent structural differences associated with the PEEK resins in this study are shown to influence the crystallization rate, final crystallinity, and melt rheology during processing, which subsequently affects mechanical properties, including strength, ductility, and impact resistance. These structure‐property relationships provide fundamental understanding to aid in the design and manufacturing of industrial and medical devices that leverage both the advantages common to all PEEK resins, including chemical and thermal resistance, mechanical strength, and biocompatibility, as well as more subtle differences in crystallization kinetics, melt rheology, ductility, and impact resistance. The progression to 7 Tesla (7 T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) yields promises of substantial increase in signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio. This increase can be traded off to increase image spatial resolution or to decrease acquisition time. However, renal 7 T MRI remains challenging due to inhomogeneity of the radiofrequency field and due to specific absorption rate (SAR) constraints. A number of studies has been published in the field of renal 7 T imaging. While the focus initially was on anatomic imaging and renal MR angiography, later studies have explored renal functional imaging. Although anatomic imaging remains somewhat limited by inhomogeneous excitation and SAR constraints, functional imaging results are promising. The increased SNR at 7 T has been particularly advantageous for blood oxygen level-dependent and arterial spin labelling MRI, as well as sodium MR imaging, thanks to changes in field-strength-dependent magnetic properties. Here, we provide an overview of the currently available literature on renal 7 T MRI. In addition, we provide a brief overview of challenges and opportunities in renal 7 T MR imaging. 相似文献
