Using the TOXI-LAB drug detection system, emergency toxicological screening was performed in autopsy cases and emergency cares. In 280 autopsy cases (male 182 cases 65%, female 98 cases 35%), drug positive cases were 28 cases of male (15%) and 24 cases of female (24%). The age groups which showed higher rate of drug positive cases were 10s-40s in male (approximately 20%) and 20s in female (67%). In the 238 cases of emergency care (male 129 cases 54%, female 104 cases 44%, unknown 5 cases 2%), drugs were positive in 29 cases of male (22%) and 32 cases of female (30%). The age groups which showed relatively higher rate of drug positive cases were 40s in male (64%), 20s (71%) and 30s (89%) in female. Forty-four different kinds of drugs were detected in TOXI-LAB positive cases, in which the psychotropic drugs and the sedative-hypnotic drugs amounted to approximately 70%. Methamphetamine and amphetamine, which were the main abused drugs showing a socially important problem, were detected in total 15 cases. TOXI-LAB was based on thin-layer chromatography (TLC); however, from the extraction to development, coloration and detection have been accelerated (about 50 min) and simplified. In order to perform the forensic toxicological practice in Japan, it becomes more useful that TOXI-LAB is used in autopsy cases and emergency cares, if the drugs, which have caused poisoning cares in Japan, are added to TOXI-LAB. The work presented here discusses a new technique for preparing silk fibers and films with persistent antimicrobial activity through use of metallic dyestuffs during the fiber dyeing process. The length of the silk fibers investigated contracted when the fibers were immersed in concentrated neutral salt solutions, such as calcium or potassium nitrate, at elevated temperature levels. The birefringence and molecular orientation of the silk fibroin molecules became less ordered by the action of the neutral salt solutions, resulting in increased dyestuff absorption. Subsequently, contracted silk fibers were dyed with metallic dyestuffs containing Cr or Cu for the purpose of obtaining silk fibers with antimicrobial activity. Silk fibers dyed with metallic dyestuffs showed significant antimicrobial activity against the plant pathogen Cornebacterium and the human pathogen Coli bacillus. Tensile strength of the silk fibers after the salt shrinking and dyeing processes did not show a significant change, whereas the elongation at break was increased slightly. The techniques described here for preparing significantly active antimicrobial silk fibers are effective and economic ways of providing new materials for industrial and biomedical applications. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report here the fabrication of transparent Sc2 O3 ceramics via vacuum sintering. The starting Sc2 O3 powders are pyrolyzed from a basic sulfate precursor (Sc(OH)2.6 (SO4 )0.2 ·H2 O) precipitated from scandium sulfate solution with hexamethylenetetramine as the precipitant. Thermal decomposition behavior of the precursor is studied via differential thermal analysis/thermogravimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and elemental analysis. Sinterability of the Sc2 O3 powders is studied via dilatometry. Microstructure evolution of the ceramic during sintering is investigated via field emission scanning electron microscopy. The best calcination temperature for the precursor is 1100°C, at which the resultant Sc2 O3 powder is ultrafine (∼85 nm), well dispersed, and almost free from residual sulfur contamination. With this reactive powder, transparent Sc2 O3 ceramics having an average grain size of ∼9 μm and showing a visible wavelength transmittance of ∼60–62% (∼76% of that of Sc2 O3 single crystal) have been fabricated via vacuum sintering at a relatively low temperature of 1700°C for 4 h. 相似文献

Effects of dietary lipids on daunomycin-induced nephropathy in mice: comparison between cod liver oil and soybean oil 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Although it is well known that dietary lipids affect the course of glomerulonephritis in rats and humans, the precise mechanisms
involved have not been fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different types of dietary
lipids (fish oil and vegetable oil) on daunomycin (DM)-induced nephropathy in mice fed on soybean oil (SO) or cod liver oil
(CLO). Urinary protein excretion, serum albumin, creatinine, total cholesterol, and TG were measured, and glomerular histological
changes were evaluated. Antioxidant enzymes were also measured, along with the levels of lipid peroxide, GSH, thromboxane
(Tx) B2′ and 6-keto prostaglandin F1α in renal cortical tissue. Dietary CLO significantly reduced urinary albumin excretion and ameliorated the histological changes
induced by DM. The increase of tissue lipid peroxide levels seen in SO-fed mice was suppressed in CLO-fed mice, whereas CLO-fed
mice showed higher GSH levels than SO-fed mice throughout the experiment. In addition, renal tissue GSH peroxidase activity
was significantly higher at 72 h after DM injection in CLO-DM mice than in SO-DM mice. Both renal cortical TxB2 and 6-keto PGF1α levels were significantly lower in CLO-DM mice than in SO-DM mice. These results suggest that inhibition of oxidative damage
by dietary CLO played an important role in the prevention of DM nephropathy in this mouse model. The effect of CLO was closely

The sinterability of mullite (3Al2O3·2SiO2) powder prepared by chemical vapour deposition was examined to improve the conditions for fabricating dense mullite ceramics. The starting powder contained not only mullite, but also a small amount of -Al2O3 (Al-Si spinel) and amorphous material. Although the compressed powder was fired at a temperature between 1550 and 1700 °C for 1, 3 and 5 h, the relative densities of the sintered compacts were limited to 90%: (i) due to the creation of pores/microcracks during the solid state reaction (1100–1350 °C), and (ii) due to restriction on the rearrangement of grains because the amount of liquid phase (1550–1700 °C) was insufficient. Calcination of the starting powder was effective for preparation of easily sinterable powder with homogeneous composition. When the compact formed by compressing the calcined powder at 1400 °C for 1 h was fired at 1650 °C for 3 h, the relative density was raised up to 97.2%; moreover, mullite was the only phase detected from the sintered compact. Q-learning, negative rewards are not propagated in more than one state. In this article, we propose a new way to propagate
