Mechanism of secondary gel-particle formation in viscose

Effect of Boron on the Structure and Properties of Disk Forgings from High-Temperature Alloy KhN73MBTYu-VD (ÉI98-VD)

Boron segregation on the boundaries and in near-boundary volumes of alloy ÉI698-VD bearing up to 0.005% B and 0.01% B is investigated. The structure of fracture surfaces of impact specimens and the nature and distribution of boron carbides and borides on conventional and wide grain boundaries are described. Statistical analysis of controllable properties of production forgings with boron content in the supplied bars varying from at most 0.005% to at most 0.008% is performed.     

Sialon-containing silicon carbide refractories

Conclusions We worked out the technology of sialon-containing silicon carbide refractories for lining the shafts of blast furnaces. It was shown that addition of MgO in combination with the waste products of the oxides of the rare-earth elements improves the strength and the other properties of the products fired at 1550°C in nitrogen atmosphere.The sialon-containing silicon carbide refractories exhibit a high resistance to the action of slags and are recommended for lining the lower portion of the shaft and the bosh of blast furnaces.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 5, pp. 6–8, May, 1992.     

Improvement in the sociomedical support for the urban family under current conditions

Medico-demographic processes and socio-hygienic characteristics of the population of a large city, both at an individual and familial levels, as well as territorial characteristics of residence, should be taken into consideration when developing measures for medicosocial care of the population. Analysis of the attitude of 380 city families to the activities, personality, and professional skills of local therapists and pediatricians and to the idea of primary health care rendered by a physician of a general profile demonstrated an increased activity of the families in the "physician-patient" system and confirmed the necessity of improving medicosocial care of a city family, expansion of prophylactic work with the population with due consideration for factors which have an impact on population health.     

Changes in Structure and Physicochemical Properties of Spark Coatings Based on TiN and TiB2 after Treatment with Concentrated Solar Radiation

Studies have been made on the structure and properties of spark coatings made of TiN and TiB₂ on steel U8 after treatment with concentrated solar radiation. It is found that the absorption capacity of the steel raised by a factor 2–3. The concentrated radiation reduces the coefficient of friction of the spark coatings made of TiN and TiB₂ by a factor 1.4, while the wear rate is reduced by a factor 1.6–2 by comparison with the untreated material. __________ Translated from Poroshkovaya Metallurgiya, Nos. 7–8(444), pp. 64–69, July–August, 2005.     

Formation of an ordered structure in the Cu-49 at % Pd alloy

We compare the kinetics of the formation of an ordered structure in the Cu-49 at % Pd alloy in various initial states and demonstrate that the alloy can be brought into a single-phase, B2-ordered state, at variance with the commonly accepted Cu-Pd phase diagram. The alloy in this structural state has an extremely low resistivity: ?? = 5.48 × 10^?8 ?? m.
