The effect of electrical stimulation (ES) of beef carcasses at 450 V on the total extractable activity and subcellular distribution of the mitochondrial enzymes lipoamide dehydrogenase, citrate synthase and beta-hydroxyacyl-CoA-dehydrogenase in skeletal muscle (activities in the supernatant of a phosphate buffer extract and in muscle press juice) was studied. There was no influence of ES on the total activity and the subcellular distribution of these enzymes in the muscle tissue stored at +2 degrees C for 7 days nor did ES influence the extent of the release of the three enzymes from the mitochondria into the sarcoplasm by freezing (-20 degrees C) and thawing. From these results it can be concluded that ES does not result in an appreciable disintegration of the inner membrane of muscle mitochondria.  相似文献

Metal organic molecular beam epitaxy (MOMBE) was successfully used for the first time to realise a high speed monolithic photoreceiver. Incorporating an InGaAs pin photodetector followed by a transimpedance preamplifier circuit implemented with InP/InGaAs heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs), the OEIC photoreceiver had a bandwidth of 6 GHz and a midband transimpedance of 350 Omega . In a system experiment performed at 10 Gbit/s, the receiver exhibited a sensitivity of -15.5 dBm for a bit error rate of 10/sup -9/ at a wavelength of 1.53 mu m. This is the first demonstration of operation of a long wavelength OEIC photoreceiver at this speed.<>  相似文献

Frozen storage at -20 degrees C for three months and thawing of muscles from sheep, hare and deer, and of the breast and leg muscles from chicken and duck did not result in significant changes in the extractable total activities of the mitochondrial enzymes citrate synthase and beta-hydroxyacyl-CoA-dehydrogenase; however there was a decrease in the total activity of lipoamide dehydrogenase except in the chicken leg muscle, where such a decrease did not occur. From the increase in the activities of the three enzymes in the muscle press juice it was concluded that - additionally to the effect of freezing and thawing itself - frozen storage results in further damage to the inner membrane of muscle mitochondria which is signalled by the release of membrane-bound enzymes. Chicken muscle mitochondria seem to be more stable against frozen storage of the tissue than the mitochondria in the muscles of the other species studied (including bovine and porcine muscle).  相似文献

Large spontaneous intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunts are occasionally found and their diagnosis by Doppler sonography is rarely reported. The authors describe a case of spontaneous intrahepatic porto-systemic venous shunt in liver cirrhosis diagnosed by color Doppler and characterized by an unusual pulsed Doppler spectrum: a continuous flat portal-like pattern of flow in the portal branch, and in both the shunt and the hepatic vein.  相似文献

The correlation functions of the fluctuations of vibrational frequencies of azide ions and carbon monoxide in proteins are determined directly from stimulated photon echoes generated with femtosecond infrared pulses. The asymmetric stretching vibration of azide bound to carbonic anhydrase II exhibits a pronounced evolution of its vibrational frequency distribution on the time scale of a few picoseconds, which is attributed to modifications of the ligand structure through interactions with the nearby Thr-199. When azide is bound in hemoglobin, a more complex evolution of the protein structure is required to interchange the different ligand configurations, as evidenced by the much slower relaxation of the frequency distribution in this case. The time evolution of the distribution of frequencies of carbon monoxide bound in hemoglobin occurs on the approximately 10-ps time scale and is very nonexponential. The correlation functions of the frequency fluctuations determine the evolution of the protein structure local to the probe and the extent to which the probe can navigate those parts of the energy landscape where the structural configurations are able to modify the local potential energy function of the probe.  相似文献

Red nucleus stimulation inhibits within the inferior olive. J. Neurophysiol. 80: 3127-3136, 1998. In the anesthetized cat, electrical stimulation of the magnocellular red nucleus (RNm) inhibits responses of rostral dorsal accessory olive (rDAO) neurons to cutaneous stimulation. We tested the hypothesis that RNm-mediated inhibition occurs within the inferior olive by using stimulation of the ventral funiculus (VF) of the spinal cord in place of cutaneous stimulation of the hindlimb. Fibers in the VF terminate on hindlimb rDAO neurons, so inhibition of this input would have to occur within the olive. rDAO responses elicited by VF stimulation were inhibited by prior stimulation of the RNm, indicating that inhibition occurs within the olive. In contrast, evoked potentials recorded from the VF or dorsal columns following hindlimb stimulation were not affected by prior stimulation of RNm, indicating that stimulation of the RNm does not inhibit olivary afferents at spinal levels. RNm stimulation that inhibited rDAO responses had little effect on evoked somatosensory responses in thalamus, indicating that inhibition generated by activity in RNm may be specific to rDAO. To test limb specificity of RNm-mediated inhibition, conditioning stimulation was applied to the dorsolateral funiculus at thoracic levels, which selectively activates RNm neurons projecting to the lumbar cord. Stimulation at thoracic levels inhibited evoked responses from hindlimb but not forelimb regions of rDAO, suggesting that inhibitory effects of RNm activity are limb specific. Several studies have reported that olivary neurons have reduced sensitivity to peripheral stimulation during movement; it is likely that RNm-mediated inhibition occurring within the olive contributes to this reduction of sensitivity. Inhibition of rDAO responses by descending motor pathways appears to be a salient feature of olivary function.  相似文献

The response of sputter deposited Fe-15Cr and Fe-25Cr alloys to a rapid potential increase in the passive region was studied using two in situ methods: electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance and inductive coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Both methods indicated an increase in the dissolution rate of iron following the potential change; the total amount of material dissolved being higher for the Fe-15Cr alloy. For both alloys, about 10% of the total dissolved material was Cr. This result compared well with experiments on a 430 stainless steel. ICP-AES is shown to be useful for the in situ determination of partial currents of metal dissolution using solution analysis in a flow cell.  相似文献

This study aimed at identifying the roll motion parameters of a motorcycle simulator prototype. Experienced motorcyclists tuned the angular physical movement of the mock-up and that of the visual scene to achieve an optimal riding experience during curves. The participants exceeded the rolling angles that would be required in real-world riding, while avoiding leaning the mock-up beyond 10°. In addition, they were more influenced by the speed of the virtual motorcycle than by road curvature, especially in a wide field of view. Heterogeneity was found in the roll applied to the visual scene. The overall patterns suggest that at least when washout is not applied to remove the side forces that in real-world riding are compensated by a centrifugal force, greater roll of the visual at the expense of the mock-up is mandatory to avoid performance biases that might be enhanced due to fear of falling off the simulator. Future roll motion models must take into consideration factors such as riding postures, which might not only influence the forces operating on the rider-motorcycle system, but also how motorcyclists perceive the visual world.  相似文献

Recovery of β-sitosterol, glycerol triether (1-hexadecyl-2,3,-didodecyl glycerol triether), and chromic oxide was studied in African green monkeys and stumptail macaques consuming diets containing 0.75 mg/Cal cholesterol and 38% of calories as safflower oil or butter. Following oral administration of these compounds, feces were collected daily for 9 days. For all animals, excretion of β-sitosterol and glycerol triether paralleled one another almost exactly. Except for two animlas, this was also true for chromic acid. Essentially 100% of the administered β-sitosterol and 90–95% of the glycerol triether were recovered; excretion of these markers virtually was complete by day 3. Ninety-two percent of the β-sitosterol was isolated in the nonsaponifiable lipid extract of the feces with less than 6% in the remaining aqueous phase. A maximum of 3.1% of the β-sitosterol and 1.8% of the glycerol triether were found in the blood. For stumptail macaques, the major excretory form of β-sitosterol was the 5β-derivative. African green monkeys were more variable; one animal excreted the bulk of the β-sitosterol unchanged while others excreted greater than 80% as the ring-saturated 5β-derivative. Animals consuming the safflower oil containing diet consistently excreted a greater percentage of the β-sitosterol unchanged, compared with those animals eating the butter containing diet. There was no evidence for steroid ring degradation in any of the animals used in this study.  相似文献
