Horizontal directional solidification experiments were carried out with a monophasic Sn-2%Sb (mass fraction) alloy to analyze the influence of solidification thermal parameters on the morphology and length scale of the microstructure. Continuous temperature measurements were made during solidification at different positions along the length of the casting and these temperature data were used to determine solidification thermal parameters, including the growth rate (VL) and the cooling rate (TR). High cooling rate cells and dendrites are shown to characterize the microstructure in different regions of the casting, with a reverse dendrite-to-cell transition occurring for TR>5.0 K/s. Cellular (lc) and primary dendrite arm spacings (l1) are determined along the length of the directionally-solidified casting. Experimental growth laws relating lc and l1 to VL and TR are proposed, and a comparative analysis with results from a vertical upward directional solidification experiment is carried out. The influence of morphology and length scale of the microstructure on microhardness is also analyzed.  相似文献

A procedure for non‐destructive inspection by taking into account the effects of stochastic fatigue crack growth is presented. For this purpose a Markoff chain model is used to update the crack statistics, allowing an efficient computational implementation and a clear account of the involved concepts. In this context, perfect and imperfect removal of cracks, respectively, are considered, which represent idealizations defining bounds for actual situations.  相似文献

Tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and aluminium chloride were taken as sources of SiO2 and Al2O3 to prepare precursors of mullite by pre-hydrolysis of TEOS under refluxing conditions. Gelation was carried out at different pH values and the effect of the pH of gelation on the subsequent temperature-induced phase transformations was characterized by differential thermal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and 29Si and 27Al solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A pH-dependent exothermic peak was observed at 980°C. Strong acidic conditions (pH=1.5) were found to be beneficial for improving the mixing scale of the Al–Si components, leading to a mullitization temperature of 1200° and a sharp 980°C exothermic peak. In strong basic conditions (pH=11.5), no evident 980°C exothermic peak was detected, and the mullitization temperature was as high as 1350°C, probably due to heterogeneity in the mixing scale of the Al–Si components in the precursor system. INFLUENCE OF CHEMICAL TREATMENT ON QUALITY OF CUT APPLE (cv. JONAGORED)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The quality of a new variety of apple, ‘Jonagored’, after peeling and cutting was evaluated during ten days of storage in air at 4C. The objective was to evaluate the shelf-life of apple cubes by detecting the limiting parameter and to test the influence of different chemical dips on the cut apple quality with the aim of extending shelf-life. Color, i.e. browning at the cut surface, was found to be the critical quality parameter determining the shelf-life of the cut apple to less than three days. There were no significant differences between the dip treatments in measurements of CIE values. When apple cubes were treated with ascorbic acid, ascorbic acid plus calcium chloride or ascorbic acid plus calcium chloride and citric acid, the 0.75% ascorbic acid dip was found to be the most effective preservation treatment in terms of reducing color change of the cut surface. Both 0.75% ascorbic acid and 0.75% ascorbic acid plus 0.75% calcium chloride inhibited the loss of firmness of apple cubes. When citric acid was added to the dip treatment, there were color changes similar to those of the control.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In previous work on pneumatic drying presented by the authors, a mathematical model based on the conservation equations of momentum, mass and energy was proposed. This model was developed taking into account axial and radial profiles for gas and solids velocities, pressure and porosity in the drying tube. These dynamic profiles influenced the behavior of temperature in the gas and particulate phases, gas humidity and solids moisture content. In this work, this model has been used to perform a parametric analysis of the tube and panicle diameters in the pneumatic drying process. These variables were analyzed here for fixed conditions of gas and solids flowrates and initial values of temperatures, humidity and moisture content. Factorial planning was applied to the numerical solution of the mathematical model. Experimental data obtained in a pilot scale pneumatic dryer were used as the initial conditions in the simulation to specify the levels of the variables analyzed. Results on the influence of tube diameter and particle diameter on the drying process were obtained by statistical analysis of the responses generated by the factorial planning.  相似文献

Residual stresses play an important role in the fatigue lives of structural engineering components. In the case of near surface tensile residual stresses, the initiation and propagation phases of fatigue process are accelerated; on the other hand, compressive residual stresses close to the surface may increase fatigue life. In both decorative and functional applications, chromium electroplating results in excellent wear and corrosion resistance. However, it is well known that it reduces the fatigue strength of a component. This is due to high tensile internal stresses and microcrack density. Efforts to improve hard chromium properties have increased in recent years. In this study, the effect of a nickel layer sulphamate process, as simple layer and interlayer, on fatigue strength of hard chromium electroplated AISI 4340 steel hardness – HRc 53, was analysed. The analysis was performed by rotating bending fatigue tests on AISI 4340 steel specimens with the following experimental groups: base material, hard chromium electroplated, sulphamate nickel electroplated, sulphamate nickel interlayer on hard chromium electroplated and electroless nickel interlayer on hard chromium electroplated. Results showed a decrease in fatigue strength in coated specimens and that both nickel plating interlayers were responsible for the increase in fatigue life of AISI 4340 chromium electroplated steel. The shot peening pre-treatment was efficient in reducing fatigue loss in the alternatives studied.  相似文献

Linear maximum length sequence codes are shown to be asymptotically efficient burst error correcting codes. These codes are essentially single burst correctors and for binary alphabets have the following parameters : block length, n = 2m ? 1 ; number of information digits, k = m; and burst error correcting capability, b≥2m?1 ? m, m ≥ 2 ; where m is an integer. A generalization to multilevel alphabets is also presented.  相似文献

This paper presents a class of binary cyclic codes with block length n = 2m? 1, having n?k = 2m? parity checks and a minimum distance d=m +1, where m is an integer. These codes are shown to be majority logic decodable in one step by making use of the concept of a quasi-perfect finite difference set.  相似文献
