Amorphous silicate grain boundary phases of varying chemistry and amounts were added to 3Y-TZP in order to determine their influence on the superplastic behavior between 1200° and 1300°C and on the room-temperature mechanical properties. Strain rate enhancement at high temperatures was observed in 3Y-TZP containing a glassy grain boundary phase, even with as little as 0.1 wt% glass. Strain rate enhancement was greatest in 3Y-TZP with 5 wt% glass, but the room-temperature hardness, elastic modulus, and fracture toughness were degraded. The addition of glassy grain boundary phases did not significantly affect the stress exponent of 3Y-TZP, but did lower the activation energy for superplastic flow. Strain rate enhancement was highest in samples containing the grain boundary phase with the highest solubility for Y2 O3 and ZrO2 , but the strain rate did not scale inversely with the viscosity of the silicate phases. Grain boundary sliding accommodated by diffusional creep controlled by an interface reaction is proposed as the mechanism for superplastic deformation in 3Y-TZP with and without glassy grain boundary phases. 相似文献

Diblock and triblock copolymers of poly‐L ‐lactide (PLLA) and polystyrene (PS) were synthesized and the mechanical properties of these copolymers studied. Free radical polymerization of styrene in the presence of 2‐mercaptoethanol as functional chain transfer agent produced mono‐functionalized PS‐blocks which were used as macroinitiators in the subsequent ring opening polymerization (ROP) of L ‐lactide to produce the diblock copolymers. Furthermore a α‐ω‐bishydroxyl functionalized PS‐block was synthesized by RAFT, which was then engaged as bifunctional initiator for the ROP of L ‐lactide to provide the triblock copolymers PLLA‐PS‐PLLA. Through the copolymerisation and high molar masses, it was possible to achieve an improved mechanical property profile, compared with pure PLLA, or the analogous blends of PLLA and PS. A weight fraction of PS of 10–30% was found to be the optimal range for improving the heat deflection temperature (HDT), as well as mechanical properties such as ultimate tensile strength or elongation at break. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Computation results of the model of solid state amorphization (SSA) based on a general approach to non-equilibrium phase transitions are reported. The model takes into account the mutual interaction of the structural elements of the amorphous phase via a deformation field. For the experimental parameters, corresponding to semiconductors undergoing amorphization by high-pressure treatment, a family of self-sustaining autowave solutions in the form of a traveling front, a traveling pulse and a series of pulses associated with the traveling front was obtained. The Building Research Institute in Warsaw has developed an organic concrete additive, known as Dikszopt, which is derived from tanning oak extract. Tests, mostly in the laboratory but some in application trials, show that it has a remarkable ability to protect reinforcing steel against corrosion, notably in carbonized concrete. Half‐sandwich rhodium(III) polypyridyl (pp) complexes with the metal atom capped by the facial crown thiaether 1,4,7‐trithiacyclononane [9]aneS3 represent a promising class of apoptosis‐inducing potent cytostatic agents. The necrotic damage caused by the complexes is negligible. In vitro cytotoxicity assays with the human cancer cell lines MCF‐7 and HT‐29 and immortalized HEK‐293 cells indicate that the dicationic κ2N(imino) complexes [([9]aneS3)RhCl(pp)]2+ are much more active than monocationic complexes [([9]aneS3)RhCl2(L)]+ (L=imidazole, CH3CN). Whereas the κ2N(amino) complex [([9]aneS3)RhCl(piperazine)]2+ is inactive, replacing piperazine with the structurally analogous κ2S (thiaether) ligand 1,4‐dithiane restores cytotoxicity as evidenced by IC50 values in the range 8.1‐11.6 μM . Spectroscopic (CD, UV/Vis, NOESY) and viscosity measurements indicate that the active dppz complex 8 (IC50 values: 4.7–8.9 μM ) exhibits strong intercalative binding towards DNA whereas the even more potent bipyrimidine complex 9 (IC50 values: 0.6–1.9 μM ) causes no alteration of the duplex B conformation. Weaker intercalative binding is observed for the dpq complex 7 . A comparative annexin V–propidium iodide binding assay with lymphoma (BJAB) cells and healthy leukocytes demonstrates that the cytotoxic activity of complex 8 and particularly complex 9 is highly selective towards the malignant cells. 相似文献

Whereas the cytostatic agents mer‐[RhX3(DMSO)(pp)] (X=Cl, Br; pp=phen, dpq) are considerably more potent than their facial isomers, this order is reversed for the analogous kinetically more inert IrIII polypyridyl complexes. The complexes induce specific apoptotic cell death in leukemia and lymphoma cells via the intrinsic mitochondrial pathway and cause negligible necrotic damage.
