A new in situ reciprocating probe system has been developed to provide scrape-off layer measurements in the Tore Supra tokamak. The probe motion is provided by the rotation of an energized coil in the tokamak magnetic field. Simple analytic approximations to the exact numerical model were used to identify the important parameters that govern the dynamics of the system, and optimize the coil geometry, the electrical circuit, and the stiffness of the retaining spring. The linear speed of the probe is directly proportional to the current induced by the coil's rotation; its integral gives the coil position, providing a means to implement real-time feedback control of the probe motion. Two probes were recently mounted on a movable outboard antenna protection limiter in Tore Supra and provided automatic measurements during the 2011 experimental campaign.  相似文献

An adaptive trimmed mean estimator for symmetric and asymmetric distributions has been developed. The simulation sample size as small as n = 10, 25 and 50 are chosen, where the influence of the outliers increases in small sample data. The comparison of the proposed estimator and the Princeton Robust Study are made. The results show that the proposed mean estimator has lower standard deviation for symmetric distributions and has a better location estimation for asymmetric distributions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:  The effects of mixing and resting on the physicochemical properties of doughs prepared with strong and weak hard wheat flours were investigated, specifically concerning aspects related to their rheological behavior and molecular mobility. Small deformation dynamic tests showed that, during the initial resting period, the complex modulus G * decreased and phase angle decreased for undermixed dough, whereas overmixed dough showed opposite trends. G * values for optimally mixed dough did not vary during the resting period investigated. This was more obvious for the strong dough. Large deformation tests more clearly showed differences among optimal, under-, and overmixed dough, and also between doughs prepared with strong and weak flour. Optimally mixed dough exhibited the highest peak stress and strain for both samples. In addition, the peak stress of dough prepared with the strong flour was higher than that of dough prepared with weak flour. Inconsistent results between small and large deformation tests implied that small and large deformation tests reflected different structural aspects of dough. NMR measurements were performed to estimate the relaxation properties of the sample upon resting. Decreased water mobility during resting, indicated by decreasing T 1 relaxation time, was possibly attributed to increasing molecular interactions caused by continued hydration. Evidence of additional molecular interactions created by mixing was also observed.  相似文献

We carried out a unique comparative study between three modes of cryo‐scanning electron imaging: high‐vacuum, low‐voltage and low‐vacuum, using ice cream as a model system. Specimens were investigated both with and without a conductive coating (Au/Pd) and at temperatures for which ice either remains fully frozen (< ?110 °C) or undergoes sublimation (?110 to ?90 °C). At high magnification, high‐vacuum imaging of coated specimens gave the best results for ‘static’ specimens (i.e. containing fully frozen ice). Low voltages, such as 1 kV, could be used for imaging uncoated specimens at high vacuum, although slight ‘classical’ charging artefacts remained an issue, and the reduced electron beam penetration tended to decrease the definition between different microstructural features. However, this mode was useful for observing in situ sublimation from uncoated specimens. Low‐vacuum mode, involving small partial pressures of nitrogen gas, was particularly suited to in situ sublimation work: when sublimation was carried out in low vacuum in the absence of an anti‐contaminator plate, sublimation rates were significantly reduced. This is attributed to a small partial pressure of sublimated water vapour remaining near the specimen surface, enhancing thermodynamic stability.  相似文献

Single-wall boron nitride nanotubes samples synthesized by laser vaporization of a hexagonal BN target under a nitrogen atmosphere are studied by UV and visible Raman spectroscopy. We show that resonant conditions are necessary for investigating phonon modes of BNNTs. Raman excitation in the UV (229 nm) provides preresonant conditions, allowing the identification of the A1 tangential mode at 1370 cm(-1). This is 5 cm(-1) higher than the E(2g) mode in bulk h-BN. Ab initio calculations show that the lower frequency of bulk h-BN with respect to large diameter nanotubes and the single sheet of h-BN is related to a softening of the sp2 bonds in the bulk due to interlayer interaction.  相似文献

This study, a randomized controlled trial, evaluated the effectiveness of free-standing air filters and window air conditioners (ACs) in 126 low-income households of children with asthma. Households were randomized into a control group, a group receiving a free-standing HEPA filter placed in the child's sleeping area, and a group receiving the filter and a window-mounted AC. Indoor air quality (IAQ) was monitored for week-long periods over three to four seasons. High concentrations of particulate matter (PM) and carbon dioxide were frequently seen. When IAQ was monitored, filters reduced PM levels in the child's bedroom by an average of 50%. Filter use varied greatly among households and declined over time, for example, during weeks when pollutants were monitored, filter use was initially high, averaging 84±27%, but dropped to 63±33% in subsequent seasons. In months when households were not visited, use averaged only 34±30%. Filter effectiveness did not vary in homes with central or room ACs. The study shows that measurements over multiple seasons are needed to characterize air quality and filter performance. The effectiveness of interventions using free-standing air filters depends on occupant behavior, and strategies to ensure filter use should be an integral part of interventions. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) increased particulate matter (PM) levels by about 14 μg/m3 and was often detected using ETS-specific tracers despite restrictions on smoking in the house as reported on questionnaires administered to caregivers. PM concentrations depended on season, filter usage, relative humidity, air exchange ratios, number of children, outdoor PM levels, sweeping/dusting, and presence of a central air conditioner (AC). Free-standing air filters can be an effective intervention that provides substantial reductions in PM concentrations if the filters are used. However, filter use was variable across the study population and declined over the study duration, and thus strategies are needed to encourage and maintain use of filters. The variability in filter use suggests that exposure misclassification is a potential problem in intervention studies using filters. The installation of a room AC in the bedroom, intended to limit air exchange ratios, along with an air filter, did not lower PM levels more than the filter alone.  相似文献

This article is a survey of heuristics for the Vehicle Routing Problem . It is divided into two parts: classical and modern heuristics. The first part contains well-known schemes such as, the savings method, the sweep algorithm and various two-phase approaches. Solutions representing a wide range of compositions in the aluminum sec -butoxide-water-isopropyl alcohol system were prepared. Solutions were mixed at room temperature, then gelled and evaporated at 80°C. Regions within this system were distinguished where translucent gels formed instead of precipitates or powders. Translucent gels formed in compositions with high water content and high isopropyl alcohol content. The stages of sol-gel process were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in the early stages and in gels before and after solvent evaporation. The microstructure was characterized by nitrogen sorption analysis.  相似文献

We investigate the electronic structure of terraces of single layer graphene (SLG) by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) on samples grown by thermal decomposition of 6H-SiC(0001) crystals in ultra-high vacuum. We focus on the perturbations of the local density of states (LDOS) in the vicinity of edges of SLG terraces. Armchair edges are found to favour intervalley quasiparticle scattering, leading to the (√3 x √3)R30° LDOS superstructure already reported for graphite edges and more recently for SLG on SiC(0001). Using the Fourier transform of LDOS images, we demonstrate that the intrinsic doping of SLG is responsible for a LDOS pattern at the Fermi energy which is more complex than for neutral graphene or graphite, since it combines local (√3 x √3)R30° superstructure and long range beating modulation. Although these features have already been reported by Yang et al (2010 Nano Lett. 10 943-7) we propose here an alternative interpretation based on simple arguments classically used to describe standing wave patterns in standard two-dimensional systems. Finally, we discuss the absence of intervalley scattering off other typical boundaries: zig-zag edges and SLG/bilayer graphene junctions.  相似文献
