Several types of reinforced Nb3Sn wires have been developed to prevent reduction of superconducting properties by applying a strong electromagnetic force. To fabricate a cryocooled magnet using those reinforced wires, we experimentally measured the minimum quench energy (MQE) under cryocooled conditions of some reinforced Nb3Sn wires. As a result, it became clear that thermal stability expressed as MQE was controlled by the temperature margin between the temperature of the operating condition and the transition temperature from superconductivity to normal. Using the FEM analysis, it was realized that the cause of the decline in thermal stability for the reinforced wires was the low thermal conductivity of the reinforced materials. 相似文献

Using a clonal assay of bone marrow (BM) cells from transgenic mice (Tg-mice) expressing the human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor (hGM-CSFR), we found in earlier studies that hGM-CSF alone supported the development not only of granulocyte-macrophage colonies, but also of erythrocytes, megakaryocytes, mast cells, blast cells, and mixed hematopoietic colonies. In this report, we evaluated the in vivo effects of hGM-CSF on hematopoietic and lymphopoietic responses in the hGM-CSFR Tg-mice. Administration of this factor to Tg-mice resulted in dose-dependent increases in numbers of reticulocytes and white blood cells (WBCs) in the peripheral blood. Morphological analysis of WBCs showed that the numbers of all types of the cell, including neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes increased; the most remarkable being in lymphocytes that contained a number of large granular lymphocytes (LGLs) in addition to mature T and B cells. However, total cellularity of the BM of the Tg-mice decreased in a dose-dependent manner when hGM-CSF was injected. In sharp contrast to the BM, spleens of the Tg-mice were grossly enlarged. Although all types of blood cells and hematopoietic progenitors increased in the spleen, erythroid cells and their progenitors showed the most significant increase. Increased numbers of megakaryocytes and LGLs were also observed in spleen and liver of the treated Tg-mice. Flow cytometric analysis showed that LGLs expanded in Tg-mice expressed Mac-1+ CD3- NK1.1+. The thymus of Tg-mice treated with hGM-CSF exhibited a dose-dependent shrinkage and a remarkable decrease in CD4+ CD8+ cells. Thus, hGM-CSF stimulated not only myelopoiesis but also erythropoiesis and megakaryopoiesis of hGM-CSFR Tg-mice in vivo, in accordance with our reported in vitro findings. We investigated whether a chemical assay by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as an alternative to the complicated and time-consuming bioassay for CS23 mutein of recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rhbFGF-CS23) using the fetal bovine heart endothelial cell line ATCC CRL 1395. Physically, chemically or enzymatically denatured rhbFGF-CS23 was subjected to heparin affinity (HA)-HPLC and the bioassay. Good agreement was observed between the results obtained by these two methods. Moreover, HA-HPLC gave much more reproducible results (RSD = 1.9%, n = 6) than the bioassay (RSD = 7.4%, n = 18). HA-HPLC is therefore a simple, accurate and reproducible alternative to the bioassay for quality control and stability studies for rhbFGF-CS23 preparations. HA-HPLC is also considered to be applicable to assays for FGFs which have heparin affinity and biological activity similar to those of the CS23 mutein. 相似文献

Nickel-tungstate/γ-alumina (NiW) catalysts were prepared by an incipient wetness impregnation method using citric acid as a complexing agent. Citric acid has been used by our research group in preparing cobalt-molybdate and nickel -molybdate catalysts. The extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) data of the impregnating solutions indicated that citric acid contributes to the formation of polytungstate anions that are smaller than the dodecatungstate ions formed when conventional ammoniacal solutions are used. Sulfided NiW catalysts prepared by using citric acid showed higher hydrogenation activity and hydrogenation selectivity than NiW catalysts prepared using the conventional ammoniacal solutions. 相似文献

CdTe epilayers were grown directly on (100), (211), and (111) silicon substrates by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition
(MOCVD). The crystallinity and the growth orientation of the CdTe film were dependent on the surface treatment of the Si substrate.
The surface treatment consisted of exposure of the Si surface to diethyltelluride (DETe) at temperatures over 600°C prior
to CdTe growth. Direct growth of CdTe on (100) Si produced polycrystalline films whereas (lll)B single crystals grew when
Si was exposed to DETe prior to CdTe growth. On (211) Si, single crystal films with (133)A orientation was obtained when grown
directly; but produced films with (211)A orientation when the Si surface was exposed to DETe. On the other hand, only (lll)A
CdTe films were possible on (111) Si, both with and without Te source exposure, although twinning was increased after exposure.
The results indicate that the exposure to a Te-source changes the initial growth stage significantly, except for the growth
on (111) Si. We propose a model in which a Te atom replaces a Si atom that is bound to two Si atoms. 相似文献

We examined the influence of polyaniline (PAn)'s unit sequence and doping with low molecular weight dopants or polymer dopants on permeation property. It was found that CO2 permeability was increased by the formation of a quinonediimine unit in PAn with the oxidation. CO2 sorption amount of PAn was decreased by oxidation. The increase of CO2 permeability with oxidation, therefore, resulted from the increase of diffusivity, which was attributable to morphological variation by the increase of a quinonediimine unit. The permselectivity of PAn films was found to be remarkably improved by doping. In particular, the selectivity value of the PAn film doped with polyvinyl sulphonic acid as a polymer dopant went up to over 2,000. This remarkable increase of selectivity was found to result in the increase of selectivity, depending on diffusivity. The sorption and the permeation of iodine in water-swollen poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes and the formation of PVA–iodine complexes were studied. The logarithms of the permeability and the diffusion coefficient decreased approximately linearly with the increase in polymer volume fraction. When the membrane was soaked in an aqueous I2–KI solution, it contracted and Young's modulus increased. These findings were explained in terms of the formation of extra junction points due to the PVA–iodine complexes. These changes were reversible and could be recovered by replacing the solution with water. The length of the polyiodine chain increased with the increase in the degree of hydration of the membrane. At a fixed degree of hydration, Young's modulus of an iodine-sorbed membrane was much greater than that of a membrane soaked in pure water. This finding was explained on the basis of a double-network structure. The extension of the membrane promoted the complex formation, and the complex disappeared when the tension was released. The critical strain necessary for the complex formation was independent of the degree of hydration. The length of polyiodine chain increased with strain and became constant at higher strains. 相似文献

High strength polyethylene fiber (Toyobo, Dyneema® fiber: hereinafter abbreviated to DF) has a negative thermal expansion coefficient. Relation between fiber structure and thermal strain of DF used as reinforcement of DF reinforced plastic (DFRP) for cryogenic use was investigated. The crystallinities and orientation angles of several kinds of polyethylene fibers having different modulus from 15 to 134Gpa (herein after abbreviated to DFs) were measured by NMR and X‐ray. We obtained the parameters of the mechanical series‐parallel model composed of crystal and amorphous by crystallinity and modulus. Thermal expansion coefficients of DFs were estimated by mechanical series‐parallel model. All DFs having different modulus showed negative thermal expansion coefficients in the temperature range from 180 to 300K, and absolute values of those markedly increased by increasing tensile modulus of DF. The estimated thermal expansion coefficients showed negative values, and thermal strains showed a similar curve to observed ones mostly. Average thermal expansion coefficients in the temperature range from 180 to 300K estimated by mechanical model agreed with the observed ones. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Selective modification by ozonation for the surface of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was evaluated to separate PVC from the other plastics, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), with almost the same density as PVC by the froth flotation process. Ozonation could selectively decrease the contact angles of flexible PVC from 87.5 degrees to 68.4 degrees and rigid PVC from 90.3 degrees to 66.9 degrees, whereas little decreases in the contact angle were observed for other plastics. This would be due to the replacement of the chloride group on the surface of PVC, into hydrophilic functional groups; carbonyl, carboxyl and ester group. The PVC was successfully separated from the other plastics by the froth flotation process after the selective surface modification by ozonation. 相似文献
