Temperature‐dependent in‐situ Raman spectroscopy is used to investigate the phase transformation of zinc metastannate (ZnSnO3) to zinc orthostannate (Zn2SnO4) induced upon annealing in the ambient. ZnSnO3 microcubes (MCs) were synthesized at room temperature using a simple aqueous synthesis process, followed by characterization using electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Annealing of the ZnSnO3 MCs was carried out up to 1000°C, while recording the Raman spectra in‐situ at regular intervals. Phase transformation from metastannate to orthostannate was found to begin around 500°C with an activation energy of ~0.965 eV followed by the recrystallization into the inverse spinel orthostannate phase at ~750°C. Results from this study provide detailed understanding of the phase transformation behavior of perovskite ZnSnO3 to inverse spinel Zn2SnO4 upon thermal annealing.  相似文献

A significant challenge facing motor carriers and engineers in this nation is the limitation of vehicle size and weight based on pavement and bridge capacity. However, the current demands of society and industry occasionally require a truck to carry a load that exceeds the size and weight of the legal limit. In these cases, engineering analysis is required before a permit is issued to ensure the safety of the structures and roadways on the vehicle's route. A truck with a wheel gauge larger than the standard 1.83 m (6 ft) gauge requires additional engineering effort because the wheel load girder distribution factors (GDFs) established by AASHTO cannot be used to accurately estimate the live load in the girders. In this study, the finite-element method is used to develop modification factors for the AASHTO flexure and shear GDFs to account for oversized trucks. The results of the analysis showed that the use of the proposed modification factors with the specification-based GDFs can help increase the allowable loads on slab-on-girder bridges.  相似文献

The retrieval of information from scanned handwritten documents is becoming vital with the rapid increase of digitized documents, and word spotting systems have been developed to search for words within documents. These systems can be either template matching algorithms or learning based. This paper presents a coherent learning based Arabic handwritten word spotting system which can adapt to the nature of Arabic handwriting, which can have no clear boundaries between words. Consequently, the system recognizes Pieces of Arabic Words (PAWs), then re-constructs and spots words using language models. The proposed system produced promising result for Arabic handwritten word spotting when tested on the CENPARMI Arabic documents database.  相似文献

Given the number of monogenic ocular diseases and the number of non‐monogenic degenerative ocular diseases for which gene therapy is considered as a treatment, the development of effective therapeutic delivery strategies for DNA is a critical research goal. In this work, nonviral nanoparticles (NPs) composed of glycol chitosan (GCS) and plasmid DNA (pDNA) were generated, characterized, and evaluated. These particles are stable, do not aggregate in saline, are resistant to DNases, and have a hydrodynamic diameter of approximately 250 nm. Furthermore, the plasmid in these NPs was shown to maintain its proper conformation and can be released and expressed inside the cell. To determine whether these NPs would be suitable for intraocular use, pDNA carrying the ubiquitously expressed CBA‐eGFP expression cassette was compacted and subretinally injected into adult wild‐type albino mice. At day 14 post‐injection (PI), substantial green fluorescent protein (GFP) expression was observed exclusively in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in eyes treated with GCS NPs but not in those treated with uncompacted pDNA or vehicle (saline). No signs of gross retinal toxicity were observed, and at 30 days PI, there was no difference in electroretinogram function between GCS NP‐, pDNA‐, or vehicle‐treated eyes. These results suggest that with further development, GCS NPs could be a useful addition to the available repertoire of genetic therapies for the treatment of RPE‐associated diseases.  相似文献

A wide-band microwave characterization of nanocomposites based on commercial multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and epoxy resin is presented. The sample preparation method is discussed in detail. Field emission scanning electron microscopy is used for morphological sample analysis of nanocomposites and MWCNTs. The complex permittivity is measured in a wide frequency band (3 to 18 GHz) using a commercial dielectric probe (Agilent 85070D) and a network analyzer (E8361A). A statistical analysis based on one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique is performed. The aim of this statistical analysis is to investigate the influence of concentration of nanoparticles inside the polymer matrix on the complex permittivity. This can be significantly different in nanocomposites even if the samples have similar electrical properties.  相似文献

It was of interest to investigate the influence of both high doses of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and low doses of 2-or 3-methylated EPA on the antioxidant status, as they all cause hypolipidemia, but the dose required is quite different. We fed low doses (250 mg/d/kg body wt) of different EPA derivatives or high doses (1500 mg/d/kg body wt) of EPA and DHA to rats for 5 and 7 d, respectively. The most potent hypolipidemic EPA derivative, 2,2-dimethyl-EPA, did not change the malondialdehyde content in liver or plasma. Plasma vitamin E decreased only after supplementation of those EPA derivatives that caused the greatest increase in the fatty acyl-CoA oxidase activity. Fatty acyl-CoA oxidase activity increased after administration of both EPA and DHA at high doses. High doses of EPA and DHA decreased plasma vitamin E content, whereas only DHA elevated lipid peroxidation. In liver, however, both EPA and DHA increased lipid peroxidation, but the hepatic level of vitamin E was unchanged. The glutathione-requiring enzymes and the glutathione level were unaffected, and no significant changes in the activities of xanthine oxidase and superoxide dismutase were observed in either low-or high-dose experiments. In conclusion, increased peroxisomal β-oxidation in combination with high amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids caused elevated lipid peroxidation. At low doses of polyunsaturated fatty acids, lipid peroxidation was unchanged, in spite of increased peroxisomal β-oxidation, indicating that polyunsaturation is the most important factor for lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

The availability of basic and reliable data on cardiovascular problems in Africans is limited and this hinders the presentation of a comprehensive review of the subject. Nevertheless, there is a strong suggestion that the spectrum and pattern of cardiovascular disorders in Africa is rapidly becoming indistinguishable from that observed in developed countries. The classic risk factors appear to be on the rise and smoking may attain levels equal to or exceeding those in many developed countries. Infectious and inflammatory cardiovascular conditions may still be the most common, although limitations in the technology available for accurate diagnosis make this difficult to verify. Rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease remain common, and the potential for educational and other preventive strategies is being realized in many countries. Hypertension at frequencies exceeding 5-10% in most rural areas and 12% in most urban areas, together with complications such as stroke, heart failure and renal failure, are leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Hypertension is the major public health problem in most African countries. The cardiomyopathies are a common problem, and the limited availability of specific diagnostic procedures is matched by limited therapeutic options for most Africans. The prevalence of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease and its complications, such as myocardial infarction and other degenerative disorders, remains low, but the situation is rapidly changing, especially in urban areas where appropriate diagnostic capabilities exist. It is thought that changes or modifications in lifestyle, risk-prone behaviour, diet, cultural attitudes and certain other consequences of rapid urbanization and demographic tendencies largely explain the observed trends.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The security of networked computers plays a strategic role in modern computer systems. This task is so complicated because the determination of normal and abnormal behaviors in computer networks is hard, as the boundaries cannot be well defined. One of the difficulties in such a prediction process is the generation of false alarms in many anomaly based intrusion detection systems. However, fuzzy logic is an important solution to reduce the false alarm rate in determining intrusive activities. This paper proposes a parallel genetic local search algorithm (PAGELS) to generate fuzzy rules capable of detecting intrusive behaviors in computer networks. The system uses the Michigan's approach, where each individual represents a fuzzy rule which has the form “if condition then prediction.” In the presented algorithm the global population is divided into some subpopulations, each assigned to a distinct processor. Each subpopulation consists of the same class fuzzy rules. These rules evolve independently in the proposed parallel manner. Experimental results show that the presented algorithm produces fuzzy rules, which can be used to construct a reliable intrusion detection system.  相似文献

The analysis of chlorinated phenols (2-chlorophenol, 3-chlorophenol, 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, pentachlorophenol) in river water was accomplished using off-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) and capillary electrophoresis coupled with electrochemical detection. A key to the sensitive, reproducible, and stable detection of these pollutants was the use of a boron-doped diamond microelectrode in the amperometric detection mode. An off-line SPE procedure was utilized to extract and preconcentrate the pollutants prior to separation and detection, with ENVI-Chrom P, a highly cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer, being employed as the sorbent. Pollutant recoveries in the 95-100% range with relative standard deviations of 1-4% were achieved. The diamond microelectrode provided a low and stable background current with low peak-to-peak noise. The oxidative detection of the pollutants was accomplished at +1.05 V vs Ag/AgCl without the need for electrode pretreatment. The method was evaluated in terms of the linear dynamic range, sensitivity, limit of quantitation, response precision, and response stability. A reproducible electrode response was observed during multiple injections of the chlorinated phenol solutions with a relative standard deviation of < or =5.4%. Good electrode response stability was observed over many days of continuous use with no significant electrode deactivation or fouling. The separation efficiencies for all six pollutants were greater than 170,000 plates/m. The minimum concentration detectable for all six ranged from 0.02 to 0.2 ppb (S/N > or = 3) using a 250:1 preconcentration factor.  相似文献
