Implementation of genetic algorithm in a PIC32MX microcontroller-based polarization control system is proposed and demonstrated. The controller measures the signal intensity that is used to estimate the genetic value. This process is controlled by the genetic algorithm rather than referring to the Look-Up-Table as implemented in existing solutions. To reach optimum performance, the code is optimized by using the best genetic parameters so that the fastest execution time can be achieved. An ability of genetic algorithm to work efficiently in polarization control system possesses many advantages including easy code construction, low memory consumption and fast control speed. Genetic algorithm is intelligent enough to be used for endless polarization stabilization and in the worst case, able to stabilize the polarization changes in 300 μs. In the best case the response time can reach 17 μs.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of natural organic matters (NOMs), which are typically present in river and seawater, on the power generation of reverse electrodialysis was studied. Bovine serum albumin, humic acid, and sodium alginate were used as models of NOMs. A NOM model was added to concentrated salt water, diluted salt water, and/or both of them. Power density was used to measure the resulted power generation. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope were used to characterize the presence of NOMs on the membrane surfaces. The effect of NOMs on the generated power density was clearly observed. This effect was influenced by the NOM's type, the NOMs concentration, and the compartment in which NOMs are added. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope data confirmed that NOMs are deposited on both anion and cation exchange membrane surfaces. While all NOMs added to concentrated salt water did not influence the generated power density, different power density behavior was resulted from the different NOMs added to diluted salt water, where NOMs could increase or decrease or remain the generated power density. Thus, besides NOM's type, the salt concentration is very critical to determine the effect of NOMs on the generated power density. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Abstract—This article proposes a novel zero-current switching series resonant inverter-fed voltage multiplier based high-voltage DC-DC converter. The series resonant inverter in the proposed topology has two power switches (insulated-gate bipolar transistors), two resonant capacitors, and only one high-voltage transformer with center-tapped primary windings. The power switches are connected in the form of a half-bridge network. The leakage inductances of the transformer's primary windings together with resonant capacitors form two series resonant circuits. The series resonant circuits are fed alternately by operating power switches with an interleaved half-switching cycle. The secondary winding of the high-voltage transformer is connected to a voltage multiplier circuit to rectify and boost the voltage. The converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode, and its output voltage is regulated by pulse-frequency modulation. Therefore, all the power switches turn ON and OFF at the zero-current switching condition. The main features of the proposed converter are lower power loss, less cost, and smaller size compared to previously proposed series resonant high-voltage DC-DC converters. The experimental results of a 130-W prototype of the proposed converter are presented both for dynamic and steady-state operation. The results confirm the excellent operation and performance of the converter.  相似文献

Recently, graphene and its derivatives have been used to develop polymer composites with improved or multifunctional properties. Exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets (GNP) reinforced composite materials based on blend of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polypropylene (PP) compatibilized with styrene–ethylene–butylene–styrene‐g‐maleic anhydride is prepared by melt extrusion followed by injection molding. Characterization of the composites' microstructure and morphology was conducted using field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Tensile and impact strengths of test specimens were evaluated and the results showed maximum values at 3phr GNP in both the cases. Morphological studies showed that the GNPs were uniformly dispersed within the matrix. Results from XRD analysis showed uniformly dispersed GNPs, which may not have been substantially exfoliated. FTIR spectroscopy did not show any significant change in the peak positions to suggest definitive chemical interaction between GNP and the matrix. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Samples of two types of palm mid-fraction (PMF I, a commercial sample and PMF II, from a laboratory-scale acetone fractionation of PMF I) and a Malaysian deodorised cocoa butter sample were used as the main components in the fat phase for white chocolate formulation. The monounsaturatedtriacylglycerol contents of these fats were 853, 899 and 903 g kg−1, respectively.All the fats had free fatty acid contents of less than 10 g kg−1 and melting points in the range of 34·0–34·5°C. The solid fat content profiles for the three fats were very steep. Differential scanning calorimeter analyses showed that all the fats had two melting peaks, T1 and T2. Results of the study showed that the tempering time to produce a well-tempered chocolate using PMF I was longer than that using PMF II, whereas, the time to produce a well-tempered cocoa butter chocolate increased with increase in the tempering temperature. Chocolates made with PMF I and II were well tempered between 17 and 19°C and with cocoa butter at 23°C. Thermal analyses, carried out on the chocolate showed that PMF I and II produced three melting peaks, T1, T2′ and T2 whereas most of the cocoa butter chocolates exhibited only one melting peak, T2. Storage studies showed that most of the chocolates had good bloom resistance for up to 12 weeks storage.  相似文献

Optical wireless LANs have the potential to provide bandwidths far in excess of those available with current or planned RF networks. There are several approaches to implementing optical wireless systems, but these usually involve the integration of optical, optoelectronic, and electrical components in order to create transceivers. Such systems are necessarily complex, and the widespread use of optical wireless is likely to be dependent on the ability to fabricate the required transceiver components at low cost. A number of UK universities are currently involved in a project to demonstrate integrated optical wireless subsystems that can provide line-of-sight in-building communications at 155 Mb/s and above. The system uses two-dimensional arrays of novel microcavity LED emitters and arrays of detectors integrated with custom CMOS integrated circuits to implement tracking transceiver components. In this article we set out the basic approaches that can be used for in-building optical wireless communication and argue the need for an integrated and scalable approach to the fabrication of transceivers. Our work aimed at implementing these components, including experimental results and potential future directions, is then discussed.  相似文献

Two ternary systems of confectionery fats were studied. In the first system, lauric cocoa butter substitutes (CBS), anhydrous milk fat (AMF), and Malaysian cocoa butter (MCB) were blended. In the second system, high-melting fraction of milk fat (HMF42) was used to replace AMF and also was blended with CBS and MCB. CBS contained high concentrations of lauric (C12:0) and myristic (C14:0) acids, whereas palmitic (C16:0), stearic (C18:0), and oleic (C18:1) acid concentrations were higher in MCB. In addition, AMF and HMF42 contained appreciable amounts of short-chain fatty acids. CBS showed the highest melting enthalpy (143.1 J/g), followed by MCB (138.8 J/g), HMF42 (97.1 J/g), and AMF (72.9 J/g). The partial melting enthalpies at 20 and 30°C demonstrated formation of a eutectic along the binary blends of CBS/MCB, AMF/MCB, and HMF42/MCB. However, no eutectic effect was observed along the binary lines of AMF/CBS and HMF42/CBS. Characteristics of CBS included two strong spacings at 4.20 and 3.8 Å. MCB showed a strong spacing at 4.60 Å and a weak short-spacing at 4.20 Å. On the other hand, AMF exhibited a very weak short-spacing at 4.60 Å and two strong spacings at 4.20 and 3.8 Å, while HMF42 showed an intermediate short-spacing at 4.60 Å and also two strong short-spacings at 4.20 and 3.8 Å. Solid fat content (SFC) analyses at 20°C showed that CBS possessed the highest solid fat (91%), followed by MCB (82.4%), HMF42 (41.4%), and AMF (15.6%). However, at 30°C, MCB showed the highest SFC compared to the other fats. Results showed that a higher SFC in blends that contain HMF does not necessarily correlate with a stronger tendency to form the β polymorph.  相似文献

Global positioning system (GPS) has been extensively used for land vehicle navigation systems. However, GPS is incapable of providing permanent and reliable navigation solutions in the presence of signal evaporation or blockage. On the other hand, navigation systems, in particular, inertial navigation systems (INSs), have become important components in different military and civil applications due to the recent advent of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). Both INS and GPS systems are often paired together to provide a reliable navigation solution by integrating the long-term GPS accuracy with the short-term INS accuracy. This article presents an alternative method to integrate GPS and INS systems and provide a robust navigation solution. This alternative approach to Kalman filtering (KF) utilizes artificial intelligence based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to fuse data from both systems and estimate position and velocity errors. The KF is usually criticized for working only under predefined models and for its observability problem of hidden state variables, sensor error models, immunity to noise, sensor dependency, and linearization dependency. The training and updating of ANFIS parameters is one of the main problems. Therefore, the challenges encountered implementing an ANFIS module in real time have been overcome using particle swarm optimization (PSO) to optimize the ANFIS learning parameters since PSO involves less complexity and has fast convergence. The proposed alternative method uses GPS with INS data and PSO to update the intelligent PANFIS navigator using GPS/INS error as a fitness function to be minimized. Three methods of optimization have been tested and compared to estimate the INS error. Finally, the performance of the proposed alternative method has been examined using real field test data of MEMS grade INS integrated with GPS for different GPS outage periods. The results obtained outperform KF, particularly during long GPS signal blockage.  相似文献

The effect of pro‐degradant distribution in polyethylene (PE)/starch blends on ultraviolet (UV) photo‐oxidative degradation was investigated. Two kinds of pro‐degradants, Fe and Co‐based, were used in this study. The distribution of pro‐degradants in the different phases was varied by a dual step process using a side‐feed on a reactive extruder. The variation in mechanical properties and evaluation of carbonyl groups by FTIR were conducted to investigate the effect of degradation following exposure to UV photo‐oxidative degradation. It was found that the variation in mechanical properties was higher when the pro‐degradants were distributed in the PE phase. The concentration of carbonyl groups increased as a function of UV exposure, and the concentration of carbonyl groups was higher when the pro‐degradants were distributed in the PE phase. Micro‐cracking was observed on the interface between starch and PE after adding the pro‐degradants. When the pro‐degradants were distributed in high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) phase, the micro‐cracks mainly appeared in HDPE matrix, and the density of micro‐crack was higher. In general, the function of the pro‐degradants in PE/starch blends was enhanced when their distribution was varied within HDPE phase. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym.
