Atmospheric corrosion of reference metals in Antarctic sites   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper presents the results obtained at three Antarctic test sites participating in the “Ibero-American Map of Atmospheric Corrosiveness” (MICAT), a project on atmospheric corrosion carried out during the period 1988–1994 at some 70 sites distributed across 12 countries of the Latin-American region, Spain and Portugal. The three Antarctic sites are located near the coastline.The singular climatic characteristics of Antarctic regions are related with the purity of the air, the absence of rainfall and the formation of ice on the metallic surface during an important part of the exposure time. However, electrochemical activity is possible below ice layers. This situation affects the structure and morphology of corrosion product films and the resulting corrosion rates of metallic surfaces.  相似文献

The stability of a rusted steel surface exposed to a 0.11 M sodium sulphate solution has been studied. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, polarization resistance and atomic absorption analysis techniques were used in conjunction with mild steel specimens rusted in a rural atmosphere and treated with different concentrations of phosphoric acid. Since most of the impedance diagrams obtained differ from the typical semicircle, it is not clear how to obtain kinetic information on the corrosion process. The polarization resistance technique gives more useful data.  相似文献

The intake of Himanthalia elongata and Gigartina pistillata from the Spanish Atlantic coasts was evaluated in Wistar rats. Both seaweed diets showed higher (p < 0.001) faecal excretion. Colonic fermentation increased (p < 0.001) total short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in Himanthalia-fed rats due to the higher (p < 0.001) levels of acetic, propionic and butyric acids. The intake of Gigartina increased (p < 0.001) propionic acid and decreased (p < 0.001) butyric acid. The apparent absorption and true retention of calcium and magnesium enhanced (p < 0.05) with Himanthalia diet, while Gigartina produced no significant effect. The serum concentration of HDL-C increased (p < 0.01), triglycerides (TGL) decreased (p < 0.001) and bile acids diminished (p < 0.001) in faeces of Himanthalia-fed rats. The Gigartina diet produced a decrease (p < 0.001) in TGL, total cholesterol (p < 0.01) and LDL-C (p < 0.05) in serum and reduced TGL in liver (p < 0.001). Thus, both seaweeds improved the lipid profile, and Himanthalia increased SCFA production and the absorption and retention of Ca and Mg as a result of the gut fermentation.  相似文献

A great deal of information is available on the atmospheric corrosion of mild steel in the short, mid and even long term, but studies of the structure and morphology of corrosion layers are less abundant and generally deal with those formed in just a few years. The present study assesses the structure and morphology of corrosion product layers formed on mild steel after 13 years of exposure in five Spanish atmospheres of different types: rural, urban, industrial and marine (mild and severe). The corrosion layers have been characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS). Long-term corrosion is seen to be more severe in the industrial and marine atmospheres, and less so in the rural and urban atmospheres. In all cases the corrosion rate is seen to decrease with exposure time, stabilising after the first 4–6 years of exposure. The most relevant aspects to be noted are (a) the great compaction of the rust layers formed in the rural and urban atmospheres, (b) the formation of hematite and ferrihydrite phases (not commonly found) in the industrial and marine atmospheres, respectively and (c) identification of the typical morphological structures of lepidocrocite (sandy crystals and flowery plates), goethite (cotton balls structures) and akaganeite (cotton balls structures and cigar-shaped crystals).  相似文献

This work presents some of the main results obtained in different marine atmospheres by Working Groups 1 and 2 (dedicated to anticorrosive protection of steel by paint coatings) of the Ibero-American PATINA network, developed in the context of the CYTED Programme. As marine atmospheres it includes natural atmospheres with a salinity level above S1 classification of ISO standard 9223 (>3 mg Cl m−2 day−1), and sulphur dioxide contamination only up to classification P1 of the same standard (maximum of 35 mg SO2 m−2 day−1). Consideration is also made of accelerated tests traditionally used to assess the anticorrosive behaviour of the substrate/paint coatings contemplated in the study, namely salt spray, artificial weathering and different cycles involving ultraviolet radiation, humidity, temperature and different contamination conditions. The substrates were steel, hot-dip galvanised steel and electrogalvanised steel (Zincorr® sheet). The paint systems applied on these substrates, with or without pretreatments, were solventborne, waterborne, high solid and powder paint systems. As a result it has been possible to conclude which of the studied anticorrosive coating types were the most suitable for each of the different types of marine atmospheres considered in the study.  相似文献

A phenomenon of unusual heavy corrosion of hot dip galvanized structural steelwork in a subtropical severe marine atmosphere has been studied. Through the data optained from X-ray diffraction analysis of corrosion products, surrounding soil samples and environmental dust samples, and from SEM observations and EDAX analysis of loose corrosion scale, as well as from the information provided by the metallographic study of galvanized steel sections with different degree of corrosion, a mechanism of attack has been proposed, which accounts for the special environmental factors prevailing on the place.  相似文献

The clinical use of currently available drugs acting at the 5-HT4 receptor has been hampered by their lack of selectivity over 5-HT3 binding sites. For this reason, there is considerable interest in the medicinal chemistry of these serotonin receptor subtypes, and significant effort has been made towards the discovery of potent and selective ligands. Computer-aided conformational analysis was used to characterize serotoninergic 5-HT3 and 5-HT4 receptor recognition. On the basis of the generally accepted model of the 5-HT3 antagonist pharmacophore, we have performed a receptor mapping of this receptor binding site, following the active analog approach (AAA) defined by Marshall. The receptor excluded volume was calculated as the union of the van der Waals density maps of nine active ligands (pKi > or = 8.9), superimposed in pharmacophoric conformations. Six inactive analogs (pKi < 7.0) were subsequently used to define the essential volume, which in its turn can be used to define the regions of steric intolerance of the 5-HT3 receptor. Five active ligands (pKi > or = 9.3) at 5-HT4 receptors were used to construct an antagonist pharmacophore for this receptor, and to determine its excluded volume by superimposition of pharmacophoric conformations. The volume defined by the superimposition of five inactive 5-HT4 receptor analogs that possess the pharmacophoric elements (pKi < or = 6.6) did not exceed the excluded volume calculated for this receptor. In this case, the inactivity may be due to the lack of positive interaction of the amino moiety with a hypothetical hydrophobic pocket, which would interact with the voluminous substituents of the basic nitrogen of active ligands. The difference between the excluded volumes of both receptors has confirmed that the main difference is indeed in the basic moiety. Thus, the 5-HT3 receptor can only accommodate small substituents in the position of the nitrogen atom, whereas the 5-HT4 receptor requires more voluminous groups. Also, the basic nitrogen is located at ca. 8.0 A from the aromatic moiety in the 5-HT4 antagonist pharmacophore, whereas this distance is ca. 7.5 A in the 5-HT3 antagonist model. The comparative mapping of both serotoninergic receptors has allowed us to confirm the three-component pharmacophore accepted for the 5-HT3 receptor, as well as to propose a steric model for the 5-HT4 receptor binding site. This study offers structural insights to aid the design of new selective ligands, and the resulting models have received some support from the synthesis of two new active and selective ligands: 24 (Ki(5-HT3) = 3.7 nM; Ki(5-HT4) > 1000 nM) and 25 (Ki(5-HT4) = 13.7 nM; Ki(5-HT3) > 10,000 nM).  相似文献
