This paper describes an effective analysis of magnetic shielding based on homogenization. The analyses become time‐consuming if the problems include the magnetic substances having fine structure. The homogenization of the structure makes it possible to analyze effectively the magnetic fields. The authors introduce a method to estimate the effective permeability of the homogenized substance. This method can be applied to any periodic structure made of magnetic substance. The magnetic shielding effects by the structures against direct‐current (DC) fields generated by electric railways are analyzed by using the present method. As a result, it is found that the overhead way and the protective fence near the railway work as a magnetic shield, whose effects can be improved by appropriate arrangement of those constructions. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have successfully developed and industrialized a solar-powered air conditioner that operates through a combination of photovoltaic (PV) arrays and commercial power supplies. In order to achieve the most efficient operation possible from a one-horsepower inverter-type household air conditioner, we selected a PV array output of 540 W under standard test conditions, based on single-day power use patterns for air conditioners as well as on solar cell output patterns. When using a 540-W PV array, we have shown that the system can supply at least 90% of the power consumed by an air conditioner during peak power periods in summer. We have confirmed that on average the power generated by the PV array can satisfy at least 50% of the power consumed by an air conditioner in summer. We also confirmed that the system functions according to system design specifications. There is little doubt that the introduction and widespread use of this system will play an important role in reducing peak power energy requirements in summer.  相似文献

An amphiphilic copolymer composed of maleic acid and alkyl (C18) vinyl monomer was encapsulated into the porous support. A series of colloidal gold nanoparticles of known size was substantially immobilized in the composite porous supports based on cross-linked polyacrylate ester and cross-linked polystyrene resin. Maleic acid moiety of the amphiphilic copolymer can act as a stabilizer for gold nanoparticles in analogy to citric acid, whereas alkyl chains play a role for the stable accommodation of the amphiphilic copolymer. Maleic acid stabilizes the gold nanoparticles by flexing the geometrical arrangement of the linear polymer. Presence of C18 alkyl chain in the poly(C18-vinyl maleate) is indispensable to act as spacing group that prevents mutual aggregation of gold nanoparticles. On the other hand, gold nanoparticles with average diameter of less than 8 nm were spontaneously formed by treatment of the composite resin beads with aqueous HAuCl4 solution, subsequently dispersed inside the pores of resin beads as observed by TEM. We have also elucidated the catalytic activity of the material with the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde in supercritical carbon dioxide. Notably, apparent size effect of gold was observed in the selectivity of the reaction.  相似文献

An 8-Gb multi-level NAND Flash memory with 4-level programmed cells has been developed successfully. The cost-effective small chip has been fabricated in 70-nm CMOS technology. To decrease the chip size, a one-sided pad arrangement with compacted core architecture and a block address expansion scheme without block redundancy replacement have been introduced. With these methods, the chip size has been reduced to 146 mm/sup 2/, which is 4.9% smaller than the conventional chip. In terms of performance, the program throughput reaches 6 MB/s at 4-KB page operation, which is significantly faster than previously reported and very competitive with binary Flash memories. This high performance has been achieved by the combination of the multi-level cell (MLC) programming with write caches and with the program voltage compensation technique for neighboring select transistors. The read throughput reaches 60 MB/s using 16I/O configuration.  相似文献

Rapidly dried onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Momiji No. 3) powder (OP) prepared from the outer layers (from second to fourth scale leaves from the surface) of onion bulbs was analysed for its quercetin and polyuronide contents, the effects of enzymatic treatment and the anti-atherogenic effect on rats fed a high-fat diet. Quercetin 4′-glucoside (50%), free quercetin (30%) and quercetin 3,4′-diglucoside (20%) were identified as quercetin derivatives, and boiling-water extraction was effective in extracting these compounds. OP contained 12.9% of polyuronides, the basic skeleton of pectin. Enzymatic degradation (cellulase and pectinase, 50 °C for 12 h, pH 6.0) of OP was effective in obtaining a slurry of smaller particle sizes. The free quercetin increased and the glucosides decreased with enzyme treatment. In Wistar rats fed an OP-added high-fat diet, the total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations were not significantly different from the rats fed a high-fat diet without OP. However, the atherogenic index (AI) of Wistar rats fed an OP-added high-fat diet was lower (AI = 3.3) than rats fed the diet without OP (AI = 4.1). The incremental elastic modulus (IEM) of the aorta from rats fed the OP-added diet was also significantly lower than that of the rats fed the diet without OP. The AI and IEM values of the rats fed the OP-added diet were quite similar to the values of rats fed the diet without OP but were allowed spontaneous exercise. These results suggest that OP intake is effective for decreasing the risk of arteriosclerosis.  相似文献

Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are used to protect the hot sections of gas turbine engines and airplane engines. A TBC system comprises a substrate, bond coat, and TBC topcoat. The development of an accurate method for determining the Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of TBC using a multilayered specimen is of importance. In this study, we applied the bending theory of a laminated plate to a three-layered material and proposed models to determine the Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of the TBC layer using the bending strain of the TBC system specimen. Three methods were developed by utilizing (i) the coating biaxial strain, (ii) substrate biaxial strain, or (iii) coating and substrate biaxial strains. Subsequently, we determined appropriate dimensions of the specimen and span by using three-dimensional finite element analysis, and numerically verified the usefulness of the three proposed methods. However, the Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio determined using the multilayered specimen with a substrate are sensitive to experimental errors. Therefore, we evaluated the sensitivity of the three proposed methods to experimental error, and we determined the most insensitive method among them. Finally, we experimentally demonstrated the usefulness of this method.  相似文献
