Afterburner [network-independent card for protocols]

Many current implementations of protocols such as the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are inefficient because data are often accessed more frequently than necessary. Three techniques that reduce the need for memory bandwidth are proposed. The techniques are copy-on-write, page remapping, and single-copy. Afterburner, a network-independent card that provides the services that are necessary for a single-copy protocol stack, is described. The card has 1 MByte of local buffers and provides a simple interface to a variety of network link adapters, including HIPPI and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). Afterburner can support transfers to and from the link adapter card at rates up to 1 Gbit/s. An implementation of TCP/IP that uses the features provided by Afterburner to reduce the movement of data to a single copy is discussed. Measurements of the end-to-end performance of Afterburner and the single-copy implementation of TCP/IP are presented     

Age and gender differences in cardiac reactivity and subjective emotion responses to emotional autobiographical memories.

This research reports age and gender differences in cardiac reactivity and subjective responses to the induction of autobiographical memories related to anger, fear, sadness, and happiness. Heart rate (HR) and subjective state were assessed at baseline and after the induction of each emotion in 113 individuals (61 men, 52 women; 66% European American, 34% African American) ranging in age from 15 to 88 years (M = 50.0; SD = 20.2). Cardiac reactivity was lower in older individuals; however, for anger and fear, these age effects were significantly more pronounced for the women than the men. There were no gender differences in subjective responses, however, suggesting that the lower cardiac reactivity found among older people is dependent on gender and the specific emotion assessed. Microstructural development and mechanical properties of interrupted aged Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy

The effects of a recently developed interrupted aging procedure on the microstructural development and mechanical properties of the commercial Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy 6061 have been studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and mechanical testing. This so-called T6I6 temper involves partially aging the alloy at a typical T6 temperature (the underaging stage), quenching, then holding at a reduced temperature (in this case 65 °C) to facilitate further hardening (the secondary aging stage), prior to final aging to peak properties at, or close to, the initial aging (T6) temperature (the reaging stage). The T6I6 aging treatment produces simultaneous increases in tensile properties, hardness, and toughness, as compared with conventional T6. The overall improvement in the mechanical properties of 6061 T6I6 is associated with the formation of a greater number of finer, and more densely dispersed, β″ precipitates in the final microstructure. Secondary precipitation took place during the interrupted aging stage of the T6I6 temper, resulting in the formation of a large number of Guinier-Preston (GP) zones that served as precursors to the needlelike β″ precipitates when elevated temperature aging was resumed.     

Aspects of social and emotional competence in adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Social and emotional competence were evaluated using self-report and behavioral measures in adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and controls. Adults with ADHD viewed themselves as less socially competent but more sensitive toward violations of social norms than controls. Films depicting emotional interactions were used to assess linguistic properties of free recall and perceived emotional intensity. Although adults with ADHD used more words to describe the scenes, they used fewer emotion-related words, despite rating the emotions depicted as more intense than did controls. In contrast, no group differences for words depicting social or cognitive processes were observed. Overall, adults with ADHD appear more aware of their problems in social versus emotional skills. 结构性黄土湿陷性指标室内测定方法的探讨

对黄土湿陷性指标的室内测定，国内外都借助标准压密仪，采用单线法或双线法进行。由于多种原因，我国各部委编制的试验规程，对采用何种方法，意见尚未统一。本文首先从人工制备结构性黄土的试验成果出发，讨论了黄土的湿陷线问题，认为非饱和结构性黄土存在湿陷线，且该线与饱和结构性黄土的压密曲线重合。从而说明在此简单应力路径下，单线法和双线法是等价的。接着，从日本大阪海成粘土不同室内压密方法得出的试验结果出发，就天然结构黄土，探讨了常规标准压密试验方法的不足，提议采用等应变压密双线法，来测定结构性黄土的湿陷性指标，从而有利于实际工程应用。     

胰腺癌经动脉灌注化疗指南（草案）

【摘要】 胰腺癌是恶性度最高的实体肿瘤之一。对不能手术切除的胰腺癌，经动脉灌注化疗由于肿瘤局部药物浓度较静脉用药高，可以达到更好的治疗效果，在改善疾病相关症状、延长生存期、减少肝转移及发生肝转移后的治疗上均取得了令人瞩目的成绩。本文在相关概念、禁忌证、适应证、术前准备、操作方法、术后处理及并发症的预防和处理等方面给出了较详尽的规范化建议，旨在帮助国内同行作出合理决策，但不是强制性标准，也不可能包括和解决胰腺癌经动脉灌注化疗中的所有问题。因此，在面对某一患者时，应在充分了解本病的最佳医学证据，结合患者具体病情及其意愿的基础上，为患者制定合理的诊疗计划。
     

孤立性肠系膜上动脉夹层介入治疗五例的护理体会

【摘要】 目的 探讨裸支架腔内血管重建术治疗孤立性肠系膜上动脉夹层（ＳＭＡＤ）的围手术期护理。方法 对采用裸支架载瘤动脉腔内血管重建术治疗孤立性的５例患者，予完善的术前准备，针对性的术后观察、护理。结果 在围手术期精心护理下，４例腹痛症状患者术后３周腹痛消失；５例患者介入治疗均获得成功，术后无并发症发生，随访３至１２个月效果满意。结论 术前充分准备，术后细致观察、护理，为孤立性ＳＭＡＤ介入治疗提供有价值的护理经验。
     

综合性放射防护措施在介入治疗防护中的应用

【摘要】 目的 探讨综合性放射防护措施在介入治疗防护中的应用价值。方法 在８４例介入手术治疗中联合应用床下铅橡胶帘、铅玻璃防护屏、铅防护服、铅围脖、铅眼镜及距离等对介入操作人员进行综合性防护。利用ＦＪ?鄄２０００个人剂量仪监测Ｘ射线辐射剂量，并对相关数据进行统计分析。结果 床下铅橡胶帘防护效率为９３．４％；铅玻璃防护屏防护效率为９３．５％；铅防护服防护效率为８８．４％；这些放射防护器材前后Ｘ线辐射剂量差异均具有统计学意义（Ｐ ＜ ０．０１）。距球管１ ｍ处 Ｘ线衰减量为５８．６％，距球管３ ｍ处的Ｘ线衰减量为８６．４％。１ ｍ与２ ｍ之间，２ ｍ与３ ｍ之间的辐射剂量差异均具有统计学意义（Ｐ ＜ ０．０１）。结论 综合性防护措施在介入操作中可有效降低Ｘ射线辐射、减少对介入操作人员身体危害。
