In this paper, we develop an efficient Call Admission Control (cac) algorithm forumts systems. We first introduce the expressions that we developed for Signal-to-Interference (sir) for both uplink and downlink, to obtain a novelcac algorithm that takes into account, in addition tosir constraints, the effects of mobility, coverage as well as the wired capacity behind the base station, for the uplink, and the maximal transmission power of the base station, for the downlink. As of its implementation, we investigate the measurement-based approach as a means to predict future, both handoff and new, call arrivals and thus manage different priority levels depending on a tunable coefficient. Compared to classicalcac algorithms, ourcac mechanism achieves better performance in terms of outage probability and QoS management.  相似文献

IEEE 802.15.3 High data rate wireless personal area networks (HDR WPANs) have been developed to communicate with devices within 10 m at high speed. A mesh network made up of a parent piconet and several child piconets can support multi-hop communications. Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) have been expected to be the ultimate solution for the next decade wireless networking, showing rapid progress and many new inspiring applications. The international standardization organizations formed working groups to address the problem of standardization for WMNs. These groups were the IEEE 802.15.5 (mesh extensions for WPANs),the IEEE 802.11s (mesh extensions for WLANs), and the IEEE 802.16a (mesh extensions for WiMAX). The IEEE 802.15.5 standard is the standard which defines specifications for including multi-hop functionality in the legacy 802.15.3 and 802.15.4 low data rate (LDR) WPAN networks. The impetus for a WPAN to operate in a mesh topology is to increase the network coverage without increasing the transmit power, to increase the route reliability via route redundancy, self-configuration, and efficient use of device battery life. In the case of meshed WPANs, multiple WPAN clusters compete for channel time in a shared superframe. Therefore, it is essential to determine the channel time requirements of each cluster with a certain number of devices and to determine how these clusters can compete to the shared channel time. In this paper, we investigate the different resource allocation mechanisms related to the meshed HDR WPANs for the 802.15.3 and the 802.15.5 standards. We introduce the single hop and the multi-hop IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN architectures. This is followed by the introduction of the IEEE 802.15.5 standard that provides the mesh capabilities for extending the coverage area of HDR WPANs. The current on-going research issues for resource allocation, including beacon interference, reservation collision etc., in both meshed 802.15.3 and 802.15.5 are alluded to.  相似文献

Providing diverse, ubiquitous and cost-effective broadband services is a foremost challenge for the telecommunication community. Fixed WiMAX or IEEE 802.16d is one of the most promising radio access technologies, providing high performance similar to wired xDSL systems, yet superior to that of current 3G mobile technologies. Numerous deployment concepts are foreseen for WiMAX networks. They are designed to cover isolated areas, thus embodying an appealing solution for cellular networks or wireless backhaul for WiFi access. The latter concept is of interest in this paper that puts forward an analytical model based on the economical aspects to dimension hierarchical WiMax–WiFi networks. The proposed model consists in replacing a finite number of nodes by an equivalent continuum. Its key feature lies in accounting for the effect of interference as well as for the physical layer and channel characteristics in an easy and straightforward manner. On the one hand, the model takes into consideration frequency planning and scheduling aspects; and on the other hand, it provides tractable formulae of the end-user mean capacity and coverage probability in order to properly dimension the hybrid network. Last but not least, the economical facet of network planning is considered to unravel the design trade-offs between maximizing the service provider profit and satisfying the end user requirements in terms of performance.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate theIp protocol as a transport option for the user traffic in the UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (Utran), where stringent delay bounds are to be met for both real-time and non real-time traffic. We focus on real-time voice traffic and present an analytical model for the multiplexing and transport of voice channels in theUtran usingIp. The novelty of our model is that it analytically includes and quantifies the performance of the timer used in multiplexing arriving Frame Protocol (Fp) frames into largerIp packets. We then validate our work through empirical results on a test-bed emulating theUtran transport functionalities. We show the trade-offs between performance, in terms of delay and link utilization, and quantify optimal values for the timer as well as the number ofFp frames perIp packet for a given output link capacity.  相似文献
