Chemical constituents, total phenolic content, total oxidant status, total antioxidant status, lipid hydroperoxides, total free –SH levels, and antimicrobial activity of essential oil obtained from the Ferulago sandrasica (Umbelliferae) were investigated. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus. The chemical constituents were analyzed by gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry. The main components of the essential oil were ocimene (30.5%), carene-δ-3 (27.4%), and α-pinene (17.8). The antimicrobial activity was tested by a disc diffusion method against E. coli MC 400, E. coli ATCC 25922, E. coli 0157 H7, E. colaecea ATCC 23355, E. feacalis ATCC 19433, P. aeruginosa NRRL B-2679, S. aureus ATCC 25923, B. nischenoformis NRRL B-1001, S. aureus ATCC 33862, B. cereus NRRL B-3711, B. subtilis NRRL B-209, M. luteus NRRL B-1013, L. monocytogenes ATCC 7644, B. subtulis ATCC 6633.  相似文献

Performance analyses of slip energy recovery drives during and at recovery after instantaneous power-supply failure in one or more supply phases have been carried out. Transient slip energy recovery drive currents and voltages under such fault conditions have been obtained theoretically using mathematical models which take into account the three-phase, single-phase, and disconnected power-supply conditions. A detailed set of theoretical and experimental results is given to clarify the expected behavior of the drive under instantaneous power-supply failure of a few cycles duration and at recovery. Insertion of an external bypass resistor into the dc link by the use of a static switch has been discussed to suppress the induced overvoltages and, hence, overcurrents in the rotor windings and converters, after recovery of the supply.  相似文献

Osteogenicity and osteointegration of materials is one of the key elements of the success of bone implants. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is the basic compound of bone cement and has been widely investigated for other orthopedic applications, but its poor osteointegration and the subsequent loosening of implant material limits its widespread use as bone implants. Micropillar features on substrate surfaces were recently reported to modulate cell behavior through alteration of cell morphology and promotion of osteogenesis. Utilization of this pillar-decorated topography may be an effective approach to enhance osteogenicity of polymeric surfaces. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cell morphology on the micropillar features on attachment, proliferation, and osteogenic activity of human osteoblast-like cells. A series of solvent cast PMMA films decorated with 8?µm high square prism micropillars with pillar width and interpillar distances of 4, 8 and 16?µm were prepared from photolithographic templates, and primary human osteoblast-like cells (hOB) isolated from bone fragments were cultured on them. Micropillars increased cell attachment and early proliferation rate compared to unpatterned surfaces, and triggered distinct morphological changes in cell body and nucleus. Surfaces with pillar dimensions and gap width of 4?µm presented the best osteogenic activity. Expression of osteogenic marker genes was upregulated by micropillars, and cells formed bone nodule-like aggregates rich in bone matrix proteins and calcium phosphate. These results indicated that micropillar features enhance osteogenic activity on PMMA films, possibly by triggering morphological changes that promote the osteogenic phenotype of the cells.

This paper focuses on the heat transfer analysis of compact heat exchangers through artificial neural network (ANN). The ANN analysis includes heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and Nusselt number in the compact heat exchangers by using available experimental results in a case study. In this study, data sets are established in 15 different test channel configurations. A feed‐forward back‐propagation algorithm is used in the learning process and testing the network. The learning process is applied to correlate the heat transfer analysis for different ratios of rib spacing and height, various Reynolds numbers, different inlet–outlet temperatures, heat transfer areas and hydraulic diameters. Various hidden numbers of the network are trained for the best prediction of the heat transfer analysis. Heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and Nusselt number values are predicted by the network algorithm. The results are then compared with the experimental results of the case. The trained ANN results perform well in predicting the heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and Nusselt number with an average absolute mean relative error of less than 6% compared with the experimental results for staggered cylindrical ribbed and staggered triangular ribbed of test channels in the case study. The ANN approach is found to be a suitable method for heat transfer analysis in compact heat exchangers. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper describes a thyristorized static switch which is designed and implemented specifically for frequent direct-on-line starting of medium voltage large induction motors. The circuit configuration chosen utilizes back-to-back connected series thyristor strings on two of the supply lines. Both the starting current and the torque pulsations of the induction motor are minimized by a controlled, nonsimultaneous switching of motor phases to the supply. This reduces the electrical stresses on the power system and the mechanical stresses on the shaft as compared to conventional switching elements. The optimum switching strategy is found by the use of a hybrid mathematical model in ABC/dqO form. The validity of the results obtained for medium voltage, squirrel-cage induction machine are verified by the use of a physical simulator consisting of a low voltage, small induction machine and a shaft torque measuring system. The system has been in operation successfully in an iron and steel plant since 1991  相似文献

Self-excitation of induction motors compensated by permanently connected capacitors is investigated in this paper. Theoretical analyses of self-excitation phenomenon are carried out by using some simplified equivalent circuits, and a hybrid mathematical model in ABC/dq axes, respectively, in steady state and transient state. An unusual operating condition about water pumping stations is reported, in which water within the pipeline may drive the motor in the reverse direction at speeds higher than synchronous, when a supply interruption coincides with a check-valve failure. In order to prevent the motor from dangerous overvoltages due to self-excitation, it is recommended to connect a simple static protection circuit consisting of a resistor in series with a thyristor switch between any two lines of the motor. Critical resistance boundaries, which will lead to loss of excitation, and demagnetization of the rotor core are determined separately as a function of operating speed. A suitable resistance value chosen in the safe design area constitutes a reliable protection mechanism against self-excitation.  相似文献
