Experimental results are presented on the measurements of thermal expansion (up to 1500°C), thermal conductivity (up to 1000°C), dielectric constant (up to 450 °C) and tan (up to 800 °C) of zirconyl phosphate compacts obtained by sintering at 1600°C. The thermal expansion coefficient of the samples at the temperature below 1100°C was less than 1.7 × 10–6°C–1. The samples showed a definite shrinkage at temperatures of 1110 and 1470°C due to the phase transformations. The expansion at 1500°C was less than that at 1100°C probably because of the phase transformation. The thermal conductivity at room temperature was a very small value (0.0046 to 0.0065 cal s–1 cm°C–1 cm–2). The dielectric constant was close to 9. The value of tan° (–0.0001) measured is one of the lowest values for ceramic materials.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to provide guidance on enhancing human response to emergency communication. This guidance can, in turn, help engineers improve the design of emergency notification and messaging systems, which, as a result, can help inform occupant response, reduce occupant evacuation time, and increase occupant safety. The article begins with a literature review on how people respond to emergencies. The Protective Action Decision Model, which describes the decision-making process that precedes human response in disaster events, is used as a framework for the literature collected as part of this review. This model is divided into three pre-decisional and five decisional processes. The method used to create the guidance document is then explained, including the six steps taken to review the literature collected (from 162 engineering and social science sources), generate findings from this literature, and compile the key statements found in the guidance document. Guidance on alerts, visual/audible warnings and dissemination of warning messages are provided. These are organized according to alert/warning type and dissemination method. The findings of the literature review include five guidance statements on alerts, 16 guidance statements on visual warnings, seven guidance statements on audible warnings and eight guidance statements on the dissemination of warning messages. Finally, guidance on emergency message testing, including language, readability and fire drills as a means of response testing, is provided. It is envisioned that this guidance will inform practitioners on the design of future emergency communications and subsequently enhances evacuee performance through a better understanding of the manner in which emergency information is processed and the tools available to provide such information.  相似文献

The effects of ageing at 473–573 K on the hardness, microstructure and thermoelastic martensitic transformation in Cu–Al–Mn-based shape memory alloys were investigated. It was found that hardness was dramatically increased by ageing due to the formation of fine bainitic plates and that the volume fraction of the bainite phase with ageing time can be described by the Austin–Rickett equation. The martensitic transformation temperatures decreased with the formation of bainite plates, mainly due to the composition change of the β-matrix. Moreover, the growth of thermally induced martensite plates was disturbed by the existence of bainite plates. Consequently, the transformation intervals (MsMf and AfAs) and transformation hystereses (AfMs and AsMf) increased with the progress of bainitic transformation.  相似文献

Model-based learning systems such as neural networks usually “forget” learned skills due to incremental learning of new instances. This is because the modification of a parameter interferes with old memories. Therefore, to avoid forgetting, incremental learning processes in these learning systems must include relearning of old instances. The relearning process, however, is time-consuming. We present two types of incremental learning method designed to achieve quick adaptation with low resources. One approach is to use a sleep phase to provide time for learning. The other one involves a “meta-learning module” that acquires learning skills through experience. The system carries out “reactive modification” of parameters not only to memorize new instances, but also to avoid forgetting old memories using a meta-learning module.This work was presented, in part, at the 9th International Symposium on Artificial Life and Robotics, Oita, Japan, January 28–30, 2004  相似文献

1. Nicotinylalanine, an inhibitor of kynurenine metabolism, has been shown to elevate brain levels of endogenous kynurenic acid, an excitatory amino acid receptor antagonist. This study examined the potential of nicotinylalanine to influence excitotoxic damage to striatal NADPH diaphorase (NADPH-d) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic neurones that are selectively lost in Huntington's disease. 2. A unilateral injection of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor agonist, quinolinic acid, into the rat striatum produced an 88% depletion of NADPH-d neurones. Intrastriatal infusion of quinolinic acid also produced a dose-dependent reduction in striatal GABA content. 3. Nicotinylalanine (2.3, 3.2, 4.6, 6.4 nmol 5 microl(-1), i.c.v.) administered with L-kynurenine (450 mg kg(-1)), a precursor of kynurenic acid, and probenecid (200 mg kg(-1)), an inhibitor of organic acid transport, 3 h before the injection of quinolinic acid (15 nmol) produced a dose-related attenuation of the quinolinic acid-induced loss of NADPH-d neurones. Nicotinylalanine (5.6 nmol 5 microl(-1)) in combination with L-kynurenine and probenecid also attenuated quinolinic acid-induced reductions in striatal GABA content. 4. Nicotinylalanine (4.6 nmol, i.c.v.), L-kynurenine alone or L-kynurenine administered with probenecid did not attenuate quinolinic acid-induced depletion of striatal NADPH-d neurones. However, combined administration of kynurenine and probenecid did prevent quinolinic acid-induced reductions in ipsilateral striatal GABA content. 5. Injection of nicotinylalanine, at doses (4.6 nmol and 5.6 nmol i.c.v.) which attenuated quinolinic acid-induced striatal neurotoxicity, when combined with L-kynurenine and probenecid produced increases in both whole brain and striatal kynurenic acid levels. Administration of L-kynurenine and probenecid without nicotinylalanine also elevated kynurenic acid, but to a lesser extent. 6. The results of this study demonstrate that nicotinylalanine has the potential to attenuate quinolinic acid-induced striatal neurotoxicity. It is suggested that nicotinylalanine exerts its effect by increasing levels of endogenous kynurenic acid in the brain. The results of this study suggest that agents which influence levels of endogenous excitatory amino acid antagonists such as kynurenic acid may be useful in preventing excitotoxic damage to neurones in the CNS.  相似文献
